CDI Topic: Rewards in PvP
All i want from Pvp reward is proper place in Grand Masters league
Maybe it could be a good idea to push this thread into the General discussions for a day or two and get some input on what PvE-ers would want from PvP?
Since that does seem to be part of the goal?
Personally I would like some ascended gear (or materials) and some new PvP unique-skins to combine with my PvE sets.
This sounds like a good idea to me.
Theres no such thing as “too much feedback” (as long as its varied, ofcourse)
Warning: link may contain traces of awesome.
Lyssa’s Grimoire – a guide every Mesmer should read.
Would you keep rank acquisition the same as it is now?
Yes, I really like it as it is now. As others said i like this kind of lifetime achievement that lets me progress at my own pace, even if I play just 3 matches a day.
They can not grant gold for previus games becouse that would ruin market. Same thing in real life. There is plenty examples in judical system where judge say that one should get compansation, but this would harm sosciety too mmuch- taxes, goverment money etc.
Thanks a ton for all the feedback. I wanted to let you all know that I’m going to close this thread out tomorrow.
Also wanted to say that I’ve been having a great time playing PvP with many of you today.
I think you should compensate players who played soloq/teamq in the past because today is easier to pvp rank up than before, like you did in gw1.
And the arean for 200 k glory is amazing like that stuff, but i’m a little dispointed by the amount of glory to pve lvl up my char 1k5 the book is too much. I think 500 points is fair
I just wanted to add one comment given the recent patch.
I see that the daily pvp no longer rewards a glory booster. This is a good thing given that people need to use them. Is there any chance that we can get it further modified so that pvp related stuff drops as the other? IE: I just got a merchant express. That’s worth even less than a stupid glory booster for a pvp-er.
I do not find unlocking skills at such a slow pace fun compared to the fast pace of gw1.
You made it too confusing where spvp players needed to buy wintersday gifts to sell on the tp and then use 300k glory and 40g for enough skill points to buy all the skills on 8 level 2 classes, which many players bought character slots under the assumption that spvp would remain on equal grounds. Personally I need to get my skill points in pve or not play with the new skills because I’m r39 with 140k glory left after converting half of it to gold by buying winters day gifts to get ~50g which I plan on using for aesthetics only. So I won’t be playing much of spvp seeing as how pve is the best place to get skill points in my situation.
Everything else about the rewards imo was fine.
What I personally would like to see:
~ Improved & reworked rank finishers to make them look more astonishing and incredible, with better animations and graphics (currently only shark is cool). Phoenix and tiger from gw1 are better than gw2 finishers.
As an improvement for rank emote, its animation should be tied to character (instead of placing on the ground) so you could take your tiger/bear etc on a walk … GW1 Tiger finisher was even more awesome because of this
- I’m talking only about the /rank emote, finishers are ground placed ofc
Stressing: It’s just a fact that for most people there exists only one path of aesthetic progression, and associated prestige.
Why was it assumed that e.g. Nightmare armor would be regarded as the super leet skin in sPvP just because it has inhumane rank reqs, when it can be comfortably farmed out in PvE by a casual group in a weekend and is therefore dime a dozen to be found in LA?
The separation also meant that a player wo invested 95% of his time into sPvP but got bored and wanting to check out the other parts would suddenly be … nowhere in GW2, despite them being a regular GW2 player. They couldn’t participate in your Living Story updates without significant catching up — Ascended items are entirely out of their reach even — or WvW.
So they just quit, because the thought of starting over or eternally catching up to the rest of the game is too much for many.
Thinking your sPvPers want or need a complete separation was one of your grossest misjudgments of player (and human) nature.
I’m glad you’re finally switching tracks (mostly).

Thanks again for all the great feedback. We heard a lot about what rewards you would like to see, what motivates different types of players and some concerns about some of the changes.
As a result of this discussion we have already decided to keep ranks in some form to represent a player’s long term investment in the game. This discussion has factored heavily into our internal discussion as to what that form will be and adjustments that need to be made. We do agree with most of you that changes need to be made especially with the attainability of the ranks towards the end.
Thanks again for the great discussion!
