Hi folks,

So I’ve reached lv400. Expensive and I hope worth it.
I wish to know what awaits me from here on out?
My warrior has full Knight’s gear from the TP but naturally I wish to eventually craft my own unique gear. It will take heaps of expensive mats I know, but it’s a nice goal to set out to achieve. How do I go about it from 400 onwards please?
No need for too deep an explanation. Just dot points would suffice.
I read that from here I need to seek recipes as opposed to discovering?
I seem to be collecting rare and exotic mats now (lv80). Just don’t know what to make of them… Draconic seems like a descent start. I should perhaps get my hands on the recipe for the items or the box?

Any help would be appreciated. Consider me clueless and having only discovered up to the Rare Gladiator Set (80).

Right now 400 is max for armor crafting. The cap will be raised some time in the future to 500, therefore noone knows the exact details yet.

Going by weapon crafting though, it would be a safe bet to say you can increase from 400-425 by refining oricalchum and gossamer, then 425-450 by discovering exotics, 450-475 by refining asc. materials and finally doing exotics again.

Start gathering materials…

Or, if not patched by then, take advantage of the glitch that let’s you get XP by discovering greens and yellows. At 497, you still get 5k discovering rares.

ANet fixed the glitch where you get experience in the non-ascended crafting professions a few weeks ago.

Also while the discovery of Rares does grant crafting XP, it’s very small. You’ll have to make 100’s of Rares as opposed to roughly 20 Exotics to level to 500. The same for the ascended materials. It’s fairly quick to go from 450 to 460, but after that the progress is very slow. Easier just to push out a few exotics to finish your way to 500.

Easier but probably cheaper for the first week or so when prices are high. You must be thinking something else because the glith I was referring to was the one where discoveries or rare weapons and below still give you crafting XP after level 415.

For armorsmithing, I guess it stops here for now. I’ve made a Knight’s Draconic Set which was the initial goal. Next will be the acquisition of dungeon armor.

For weaponsmithing, I suppose getting to lv500 is a good first goal as Bezayne suggested. Then crafting my first Ascended Weapon, and finally further down the track crafting a Legendary.

so for now, wps to 500 and gathering mats. Sound about right?

Sorry to break this to you mate, but if you found 400 armorsmithing expensive, don’t even think about weaponsmithing 500. It’s about 200g to get the last 100 lvls.

Yorick, you plan sounds good. Especially the gathering the mats part, for if you buy those it does cost a lot of gold as the person above me stated.

It is quite possible to get it done mostly just gathering though it does take time and effort. I am working on my fifth weapon craft (two separate accounts) so I know it is possible. It does mean I am constantly broke though.

I hope they will create more possibilities to get ascended armor so we will not have to lvl it to 500. It was terrible to lvl weaponsmith and i dont want to experience it again.
