Gift of Wine
or it could require a pile of elonian wine :p
There are plenty of grapes on the TP.
(edited by Khisanth.2948)
10k grapes is plenty? When every gift so far requires 250?
You could be right about the elonian wine though. It wouldn’t surprise me if we need both.
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
250x elonian wine
250x elonian wine
I think you mean
250 grapes, you can get a minimum of 16(or 17) a day per character. So that is around 2 weeks. Seems to be the same schedule as other ascended materials.
If we are crafting a gift of wine that will mean ascended cooking next patch…
(edited by Khisanth.2948)
Yes, I was thinking that too. Gift of Wine = r500 Cooking item? I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this means that Ascended Chef/Jeweler is coming in the next patch.
Well grape prices sure skyrocketed. Did someone invest perhaps?

I wouldnt mind cooking 500 coming in the last LS patch next week but did Anet actually confirm that the Gift of Wine will be available next patch?
It would make sense to put ascended cooking/jeweler in the feature patch after that and if the Gift of Wine is actually a cooking recipe, it could be introduced then.
As it gives a color scheme to the backpack, maybe ascended cooking will focus on giving color features to ascended weapons (which are colored by stat anyways) and ascended armor effects.

They haven’t confirmed it, no, but logic would suggest that the Static/Dynamic/Synergetic variants of the Spinal backpiece would come by the end of this Living Story. (After all, we have Taimi, who is probably where we’ll get the choice to pick our particular Power Core from.) It would therefore make sense that the Gift of Wine would come in the same update so we can get the different colours.
I don’t know for certain that Gift of Wine would use cooking though (after all, where’s the sense in being able to craft metal blades using cloth or leather??), but it just seems like a good candidate.
I dunno, time to see if the implementation for changing the color is costly (big business feeding their greed) or trivial (realize players already made the tempered blades and don’t need to repeat a similar process just to change it’s color).
With such lopsided costs on making ascended materials (tailoring being the most expensive in mat count and mat cost), its just not fair or fun.
It can take 8+ hours dungeoning just to get 20g+ when you have no funds and unlucky drops, so when it costs 194g to get 15 bolts of damask (meaning you have no leatherworking 500 toon) and you need that many multiple times, you end up farming your time away instead doing what you enjoy in the game.
(edited by KingZmaN.6473)
It is actually cheaper to level a character from 0-500 leatherworker then buy the Elonian Leather Squares than it is to get the Bolts of Damask. That is assuming you are buying both the Elonian Leather Squares and the Bolts of Damask.

No.
In the spanish client the Core said that needed “Elonian Wine” in spanish, i dont know what localization is the right, the one in english or Spanish…
lol grapes touched 5s. Man that’s ridiculous.
lol grapes touched 5s.
Which was likely the point of the OP’s post. There’s absolutely no basis (besides the name, but that is very weak connection looking at the kind of “logic” Anet employed so far) to think grapes will be used at all. And the “10k” number being mentioned is taken out of thin air, with no basis in any data (or even hints).

Only becuase Anet has a history of requiring an inordinate number of materials for the “nice” things. Why not throw 5 gold at grapes on the off chance it will save you from spending 50 gold on grapes when you get home from work on patch day for the 1000 grapes you MIGHT need.
If anyone had faith the system would be reasonable in not creating a market catastrophe, this wouldn’t happen.

Yes, they have to be level 10 before they can reach 500.

I just finished crafting to 500 leatherworking (used crafting boosters from the start) on a new toon (toon was level 2 when I started crafting), my new toon made it to level 10 on the way to 400 crafting – so it’s possible to level to 500 crafting starting with a level 2 toon, don’t waste time trying to level your toon first.
Hope this helps others ;-)
Hopefully grapes don’t tank before I get home and have a chance to capitalize on them. I’ve got a TON of them because they are part of my daily farming circuit.

17 per day per character. 1 in LA at the end of Troll’s End JP. 1 patch in Lornar’s and 1 patch in Fields of Ruin.

Had you started with a level 0 character, you would have been level 10 upon reaching 500.

You have to get through the first mission to get to a crafting station. Atthat point, you are lvl 2.

So with the 10 levels you get from crafting, all players are required to be at lease level 12 then.

It’s actually a bit easier to get to now but 1 extra grape is probably not worth the effort unless prices go crazy.

You can still build them with influence and you can still buy influence with gold.
Also, I believe grapes are not time-gated. They are not T6 items like ori, ghost peppers, omnom’s, ancient/orrian wood, etc. so they’ll be available for harvest a lot more than once per day.
It just depends on how much OCD you have in your system to collect them and how paranoid you are to believe that the upcoming patch will involve grapes at all, when in reality it could mean Elonian Wine which is readily available through Miyani.
Having said that, I’m gonna harvest me a stack, just in case.

3 grape nodes in the Edge of the Mists, too. Don’t forget!
You think ANet would have added grapes to the EotM map if they would continue being useless in the future?
That run the other night happened purely on speculation. Not one grape was consumed. Guess what’s going to happen when we get the Gift of Wine recipe?

Yes, most likely people will start farming/buying mats for the recipe. Which possibly be account-bound LS-limited drops. Not grapes.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Thank you for pointing out the price increase in grapes. That makes grapes worth farming and selling. I collected 120 or so grapes and sold them for some quick gold.

That seems more like ‘add one of everything’. There are probably some nodes in EB as well.
Stock up on cherries also, there are a few different types of wine. Cherries could be used for the red version of the back piece.

Why dont you go and harvest any kind of berries. And you better buy some packs of yeast from the Master Cook because i saw a post on reddit that he might run short and purchases will be timegated to 1 bulk per day.

The only grapes I know of are all in patches. These are typically time gated.
Yeah, grapes are a node farm ingredient. They are restricted to once a day.
That said, I’d caution against investing too much into it. Remember when Halloween 2012 was coming out and people invested heavily into Sugar Pumpkins, only to find out that the recipes barely required any?

Why would any T3 foods require time-gating?

It’s not t3 foods per se. It’s the fact that any cooking node patch is on a 23 hour timer. The grapes in EotM for example are not so gated.

Three patches or three nodes? Three patches would be a lot. Three nodes would be just the ones near the southern tower.
Patches, nodes, whatever. So you’re saying the ones near the south tower can be harvested more than once daily?

A node is an individual grapevine.
A patch is a rare occurrence at specific locations where there are multiple grapevine nodes in a compact area. These nodes do not reset every hour but instead on a once a day basis. For reference, you can find a grape patch in Lornar’s Pass behind the pirate base in the southwest corner of the map.
He’s asking if the grapes by the south tower are just nodes that reset every hour or if they are part of a grape patch and thus only reset once a day.
Hmm, are patches server-specific? For instance, you harvest all the grapes in Tarnished Coast, then guest to Blackgate. Would the grapes still be harvested?
If not, then you could possibly get grapes each time in EotM from that patch as long as it was a different overflow each time.
I’m not sure if Anet have woken up to that yet, but I think node harvesting is per character, regardless of server. If not then yay for us.
I might try this tonight.

This doesn’t work. I regularly guest to Desolation for large scale PvE events and lately while I’ve been there I go get the grapes in Lornar’s Pass. When I go back to my home server, they’re missing as well, until the next day.
I’ve also tested this with the Strawberry patches, which are a lot harder to get to.
