Ok so we are getting 500 weapon craftings. Cool. The currently legendary weapons will become ascended. Cool.
No new legendaries with the upcoming patch (at least nothing mentioned about it). Possibly very uncool. This mean that I’ll probably need to craft ascended weapons and then later dump one to my 2nd legendary. This is why I thought you guys were going to do armorsmithing stuffs first and put out the new legendaries in between (which would have been a smart move).
I’m really hoping that I will I at least be able to use the new ascended weapons as part of the mats to craft my new precursor (whenever that comes out). Otherwise the same sort of “what do I do with this now?” problem will come up as when we upgraded from exotic->ascended backs.
Another possible issue (which I haven’t seen any response to) is if we’ll be able to level up multiple crafts at once, or if they’ll share a similar time gated “charged quartz” like item which would prevent that (and make me cry).
Feel free to post your thoughts/concerns about the upcomming change.

The only thing I don’t like about ascended weapons and change to legendaries is that we will loose sigil slot for infusion slot. While cool I believe that +4/5 power or something instead of sigil is a bad deal.
I mean some specs rely on sigils. Some sigils give you way extra damage than mere +5 power, right?

Legendary Weapon Updates
Legendary weapons are getting a stat boost and an Offensive Infusion slot to align with the new Ascended weapons!

Legendary and Ascended weapons will have sigil and infusion slots.
Has anyone received any info on how we’ll be crafting up to 500 in regards of mats needed?
400-475 I can field excellent guesses but what about 475-500 and what will be needed for a full ascended?
Curiously, I wonder what tossing 4 Ascended weapons in the forge would yield… a precursor mayhaps? Seems a bit backward, but….

My biggest concern is how significant these ascended weapons will be. Will they be outrageously priced? I, personally, despise crafting in this game (now don’t jump on me! It’s subjective and I’m ok with that!). Instead, I sell all my mats on the TP to bring in a cash flow since I can’t really do dungeons due to having young children, a wife, and a demanding job. (Or it’s a lack of confidence for dungeons as well, who knows?)
I just keep worrying that when it comes out, I won’t be able to keep up. I’ve accepted that I’ll never have a legendary, due to crafting and no dungeons. I’m ok with that so far.
I guess I’ll just have to wait and see how Ascended Weapons go!

So, you have to waste a 100 craft points worth or resources crafting exotics you don’t need just to get to 500? Brilliant planning. Didn’t they say they wanted to stay away from this “pointless” crafting?
It also seems to me that a huge number of T6 materials and ectos is needed, so is crafting ascended weapons only for the rich people?

You need to salvage Exotics anyways to get ascended materials. So it is not wasted. Too bad for ectoplasm.

After watching the stream, I’m also wondering what the point is of getting to 500. Maybe there will be new achievements. Maybe one day it will be needed for precursor crafting.. maybe you have to have crafting at 500 to actually make the ascended weapons.

You’ll also note the inclusion of a cooldown timer on the Ectoplasm Refinements. Each one can be refined only once per day, per account.

I have a few friends who spent tons unlocking all of the exotic recipes even ones from special events to have that stripped of their account seems wrong. Is there any word on reimbursement to people who want to keep their discoveries even if it makes crafting from 400-500 more difficult. it sounds like this was either poorly thought out or you guys really dont like your fans.

Honestly, given the current lack of value in crafting nothing really chances except that you can sell ascended materials. And exotics might actually go up since you need them to craft ascended gear.
Your thief scenario, seems more like a balance issue than a crafting issue. Based on your scenario, a thief is still going to win either ways, it wouldn’t be the ascended gear that make it so, it would be the lack of balance that makes it possible.
Honestly they should make change the weapon scaling dmg AND reduce attack spamming AND reduce damage to minimize power creep.

When the update goes live, the three weapon-making disciplines will find that they can now level up their crafting from 400 to 500. In order to do this, you’ll need to refine Tier 6 crafting materials and craft exotics. To facilitate this process, we have reset everyone’s Exotic weapon discoveries so that you will be able to re-discover them and get that sweet XP bonus once again.
I swear 4 ascended (equivalent to 8 weeks of work) better produce a precursor.
