Hi, I would like to suggest some QoL change for when you craft ; Right now, when you craft, it uses the material that you have in your bank storage first, then in your material storage. I don’t know why it is this way, as it would be 100000x more convenient that it use what you have in your material storage in priority.
It’s really annoying when you try to gather material for specific craft in your bank tab and you have to refill it every once in a while because the other crafts you make use it…
Also, when you have a ton of a certain material (looking at you mithril ingot and elder wood plank…) which you gather and use them frequently, you always need to take a stack from you material storage to fill the slot in your bank that your craft have use.
Maybe this has already been proposed but I was too lazy to look in the old forum post (thanks search engine! and yeah, I don’t like to search through google) and I think it’s a good reminder. So thank you for your support and let’s hope this could be change in the near future!
Edit : TL;DR : Change the way you use material when you craft from : Inventory → Bank tab → Material tab to Inventory → Material tab → Bank tab or have an option to choose how you want to prioritize the different storage slots.

I’ve wanted both(not at the same time of course) at one point or another.
Crafting should prioritize your inventory first, then the materials tab, and lastly the bank tab.
Definitely a QoL improvement.

Maybe we could choose where we want to prioritize the material when crafting?

Yeah, that’s what I meant, Inventory -> Mat tab -> Bank tab. I omited to mention it as it is already the first place where it takes material, we should leave it that way.
It does inventory first, bank, and then collection currently. I don’t see any real need to change it.

Would be nice to have the choice how you prioritize the storage slot and I would say a lot of people are annoyed about the current way it works.

But why? That’s what I’m not understanding. I can’t see any reason why you would need to separate out materials.
Seconding this, prioritizing the materials tab over the bank tab would be a big QoL improvement.

Material tab is the dump where everything you pick up goes when you are cleaning up your inventory.
Bank tab is where you specifically put stuff, which generally implies you want to keep it separate.

I’ve given examples in my OP but I’ll try to rephrase them.
Well, first, when you want to save for a specific craft (legendary). I have my 250 stack of ecto in my bank tab, I need to wait for other material before I can craft the Gift of Fortune. In the meanwhile, I craft timegated things that require ecto : It eats ecto in my stack that I saved in my bank tab so I have to constantly restack it with the material in my Material tab.
Other situation : I have a lot of a certain material (let’s say elder wood plank), like 2k of it. It takes 8 slot in my bank tab. I have around 100 plank in my material tab. I craft a Glob of Elder Spirit Residue everyday but it will use one of the 8 fully stacked elder wood plank before the 100 plank I have in my material tab. So if I don’t restack it, at some point my material tab is full and I have to transfer it to my bank tab manually before I can deposit the other plank that I’ll craft.
I’m sorry if it’s not clear enough, I’m not native english.
I guess i can see that. I always just used a guild bank so I’ve never ran into that issue.
I guess i can see that. I always just used a guild bank so I’ve never ran into that issue.
Using a guild bank is a solution to that, but not everyone has the luxury (even if it’s not that hard) to get personnal guild bank or don’t want everytime to : withdraw from bank, switch to personnal guild, run to guild bank, store it, switch back to normal guild.
I find the current order the most convenient, remove it from wherever it is taking up the most valuable space first. But then if I have materials outside of the material storage it’s because my material storage was full.
So I wouldn’t like a simple change of the order; more options is generally not a bad thing though.
Yah. Collections first.
If I have extra in my bank storage, it’s there because I am planning to do something with it. It’s annoying to have it be partially used up and I have to recombine from collections to get it back.
I don’t store stuff in my bank unless it’s surplus from my collection storage, so I don’t want this. I can also see where those that have TP plans for stuff in the bank will be for this and everyone else will not.
As I think those that want this will be in the minority (and I could be wrong about that assumption), I doubt it’s a viable change.
I like it the way it is.
Bump for being practical and a bug fix.
I’d be OK with either system.
But why? That’s what I’m not understanding. I can’t see any reason why you would need to separate out materials.
When you have a lot of materials gathered (more than collection cap), and at the same time do a lot of crafting and harvesting, it is more convenient for it to take from collection first. It’s just easier to restock – need to send to collection, instead of looking for a bank and then manually moving resources from inventory to bank (or from collection tab to bank).
I like as it is now. Because the bank is the extansion of my material crafting, not other way around. I have 5x collection expander, and when it’s still full, i sometimes store in the bank. I rather have those spots free again asap, rather then cleaning the material tab who never runs away.
It does inventory first, bank, and then collection currently. I don’t see any real need to change it.

Hardly. Bank tab is where my overflow goes.
Keep it as is.

I specifically put my overflow into my bank tabs MANUALLY because I have to keep my Material Tab EMPTY in order to use the “Deposit Material” tool.
If the system was changed to use the Material Tab first, then they would be eliminating the UNNECESSARY MANUAL step of moving the overflow out of Material Tab.
You’re doing the same thing I’m doing (moving overflow to the bank). If we fixed this so that Material Tab was used first then you and I BOTH would have a LOT LESS manual overflow moving to do.

No, actually. We do the SAME amount if we’re smart (one time, when the store gets filled). What changes is I don’t feel like I have to craft in order to keep remote-depositing (not true), versus you not feel ing that material storage items are reserved for their purpose (also not true).

The store gets filled more slowly if you are also using it when crafting, thus your premise is incorrect.
Sorry, but there are no valid reasons to be against this suggestion.

First of all, this type of baseless claim is not constructive to any discussion.
Second, yes there are/is: The current system (coincidentally?) prioritizes materials by the value I assign to the slots they occupy so the more valueable slot is freed up first.
The values assigned to the slots are, of course, subjective but I order them like this:
Inventory: Is where loot goes so I’d want to have a good number of open slots.
Bank: Anything can be put in the slots so they are more valuable than materials slots.
Materials storage: Can only hold that type of materials so is of lesser value than the others.

Material storage allows you to free up your inventory, so by your own definition it is more valuable than bank slots due to the ability to automatically transfer items to it.

By my valuation a bank slot is worth more than the material slot, you can’t argue that’s not true because it is by definition an opinion.

You are in luck! This suggestion would reduce the number of overflow stacks significantly and would over time minimize the amount of inventory cluttered by those stacks!
The amount of improvement depends on the relative rates of acquisition and use, but over a pretty wide variety of conditions the result holds – drawing from the collections first minimizes inventory usage.
The logic here is fairly straightforward – when you consume from your storage first and create a new stack whenever you overflow, you’ll frequently have a situation where you have a small stack in your storage as well as a near empty stack in your collections. This wastes a slot.
When you draw from your collections first, the stacks in your inventory tend to stay large longer. This wastes less space.
This holds for behaviors that are generally acquisitive – where the number of stacks increases over time when left to its own devices – and the usage is fairly systematic. You can get the trend to reverse, slightly, with a combination of huge collection sizes (1000+ in storage) and very swingy usage (basically, letting it build up, then crafting everything in collection back down but no to the point where it consumes storage). There is no situation I can find where the status quo is preferable to a collection-first usage without the use of multiple collection expanders.
In general, under most usage parameters, switching to a collection-first usage system will save general storage space. If you value your collections being freed up before your general storage, you’d prefer usage to pull from collections first; if, on the other hand, you value your inventory being freed up before your general storage, you still prefer usage to pull from collections first. It’s a win-win.

Wow, this kinda went a bit bigger then intended ^^’
What I see from those post is that both system is valid for certains players. Thus, instead of imposing a system, we should have the option how we prioritize item slots when crafting ; so drop down list that let you select :
Slot priority 1 :
Slot priority 2 :
Slot priority 3 :
For myself, I would set this with :
Slot priority 1 : Inventory
Slot priority 2 : Material tab
Slot priority 3 : Bank tab
for another person, he could set it like that :
Slot priority 1 : Bank tab
Slot priority 2 : Inventory
Slot priority 3 : Material tab
You could find that when you open up any crafting station and would appear somewhere under a “gear” icon
