Extremely disappointed that Rodgort apparently isn’t sharing in getting an overhaul. I guess not many have it, and since the minority wasn’t very vocal they just ignored us.
It amazes me that some of the legendaries that already had over the top effects like Bifrost and Moot get updates whilst a barely noticeable rodgort gets absolutely shafted.
“we felt they were awesome already.” that’s a giant slap in the face. Is it awesome that my non legendary cobalt gives off a brighter flame than my legendary torch? Is it awesome the arm flame is covered by armour and aegis? Perhaps its awesome that the footprints barely last long enough to be called footprints. Maybe the barely noticeable throw torch (only skill change) effect was awesome.
Don’t get me wrong, the effects on rodgort are good but barely noticeable to be called awesome! Make the arm flame bigger, bigger / longer lasting footprints, make rodgort blow a bigger flame (atm it does when you attack but its barely big enough or noticeable enough as you are moving around and attacking), make the glow / light brighter, make the character burst into flames or something…

I don’t get why you should craft a legendary that you don’t find “complete” and then complain because other legendaries get “buffed” and yours doesn’t.
They are doing a good job on legendaries (stats swap,upgrade to ascended and even transmute reverse).

Agreed it looks good but imo its not on par to the other legendaries and now the gap is even bigger with legendaries with already great effects getting more love than rodgort. It doesn’t need much work but as it is the effects are barely noticeable and it definitely needed more attention than moot or bifrost.
I think the torch needed something extra but that is just my opinion. I don’t actually own it though. I think all of them should have foot prints even if the main hand over rides the off hand. (does the shield have footprints? cause it’s not getting changed either, which I agree the shield already looks pretty awesome)
On that topic, most of the foot prints don’t seem to last very long. Moot got an upgrade and it’s foot prints didn’t seem to last that long either.
Most of these upgrades will probably not even be noticeable. And just think you could be an engineer like me.

Don’t get me wrong I love rodgort and still do. Crafted it months ago because it looks great and suits the character well. But it does have flaws. The effects are good but not noticeable enough. Aegis and armour hides the arm flame, skills aren’t changed, footsteps dont last long enough to be seen. Flaws that stand out much more than some of the legendaries that got work done to it like moot and bifrost. And that’s what hurts. It’s not on par with the other legendaries and is barely noticeable as a legendary weapon.
But the harsh truth is that it’s unpopular and not many have it, and weren’t as vocal as the other legendary holders.
I got Rodgort on my ranger, and I’m pretty happy with the current state. One thing I’d wish is that when it’s sheathed, it would still glow bright orange, like when equipped. That would make it much more noticable.

Maybe but legendaries like Quip and Minstrel are being upgraded. Don’t tell me they are popular legendaries.
In fact is your opinion that the animations are not made the right way and can seem unfair that your legendary doesn’t get an upgrade but that remains your opinion.
You should not take that like “omg we are unpopular they don’t listen to us!” because they don’t listen to anyone in this case.
i can give you a point on aegis animation thats very ugly imo for every offhand legendary not just rodgort.
Legendaries currently have up to 4 categories of effects (based on my observation):
1) Attack animation or movement animation on the weapon itself (i.e. Rodgort, Frostfang)
2) Sound effects
3) Footprints
4) Glow/aura
Right now, it seems that Anet is trying to make sure all legendaries are on par based on those 4 qualities (disregarding whether or not you agree with the asethetics). Look at the Dreamer, clearly a noticeable legendary after one update, now will get a glow and footsteps. Rodgort I believe has 3 of the 4 (not sure about the sound effects), so I wouldn’t lose hope yet of having Rodgort getting a polish eventually.

Well at least it kinda glows when you pull it out, right? Oh yeah. I don’t understand why it’s taken 1 year to even get legendaries on par with each other. It seems stupid to me that this wasn’t a larger priority. Mainly due to the fact that to players, it’s one of the largest priorities, especially one of the most time consuming. If players spend this much time on it, so should developers.
I completely agree with this thread. I think they could improve it’s flame effect, better landing footfalls and a flame trail when walking with it. The Dragon breathing concept is awesome though.

Rodgort actually has a special animation. At least on Guardian. When using Zealot’s Fire instead of throwing a ball of fire, you throw a dragon head.
It’s pretty cool, but the problem it’s kinda small.

I couldn’t agree more. When she said, “I don’t think Rodgort got any upgrade” I was extremely disappointed. That doesn’t mean she could be mistaken (I’m holding out hope). The fact is, its similar to the Juggernaut or the Moot in terms of footprints. It’s sad that people can do skills and generate more flame trails then someone wielding a legendary TORCH. And skill 5, (breathing fire animation) should be unique. It shouldn’t be like every torch in the game. Other than those 2 things, the overall look of Rodgort is awesome and shouldn’t be changed.
It would be awesome if they did an animation like the Kamohoali’i Kotaki (the shark spear legendary) does when a shark comes out when using a skill, if rodgort a dragon came out and breathe’d the fire instead you breathe a blue flame like every other torch in the game

Agreed. The way I see it, Rodgort looks great, the moving dragon is fantastic and its effects are much better than some of the others like minstrel (which was just bs that the released it like that).

By saying “we think it already looks awesome” I hear that as being – it’s fine we are not going to change it ever especially since rodgort and fsp (which also should not have been left out in the revamp) were put in the same line of awesome as sunrise and twilight which it clearly is not.
IMO anet should have set those 4 things you mentioned as a standard for every legendary then make those effects etc unique based on the weapon type and skin. Then every weapon would be on an even playing field of being legendary. Otherwise change the recipes.

I never knew it did that I made it for my mesmer and I wish I could use a skill to shoot a dragon head!
Atleast the Guardians get something out of rodgort, Us mesmers dont get any different animation from it, How about Letting us vanish in a Dragon Flame when we use the 4th skill?

Your opinion that Rodgort needs an overhaul is not evidence that Anet is ignoring ‘us’. Anet is generally doing a pretty awesome job with GW2 IMO. If you seriously think there is something wrong, I would suggest a more mature approach to expressing it.
im going for rodgort now and i hope they dont ever change it, its my 3rd (and curse myslef hopefully) final legendary a legendary in everyslot, dont mention underwater >:C…… well
maybe i could get the trident because thats just down right sexy but my point is, rodgort is the more piece of art weapons that are elegant and not all up in your grill (no pun intended) besides its footfall doesnt stack anyway, and the smoke that comes from it is just awesome
Get legendaries for other characters too!!. I got Juggernaut and Sunrise on my guard, Dreamer on my ranger and Kudzu on my warrior. Will probably do either Frostfang or the Moot next for my warrior. Then I just filled in my other 6 characters with ascended weapons and made my guard(my main) full set of ascended armor so now hes full ascended with ascended scepter and focus
