Rune's Of holding Prices
True,
“greater rune of holding for 18 slot 2 gold
superior rune of holding for 20 slot 10 gold”
8 gold for 2 more bag spaces is just too much for me
I agree with this. Mostly because I can’t even figure out how someone makes that much gold to begin with. Maybe I’m just bad at making money, but I’m now level 80 and I haven’t had more than 3 gold that I’ve been able to hold onto at one time.
In time there will be more money flowing in the economy and the prices will not be that bad.

Can you buy bags with gems and how much are they?
Seem pretty fine to me. It’s a choice: pay Gems for more bag slots, or Gold for more space per bag, or ideally, both.
There’s also this wonderful button called “Deposit Collectibles”, salvage kits, and waypoint travel that can take you within stone’s throw of a vendor, on the off-chance your bags are really that full.
Seems like a good way to make players choose instead of just handing everyone max bag space. It should be a choice, and it is. Please also note that you can easily share money down to alts, if not the bags themselves. So while your first character might be more destitute, the later ones will likely be better off.

This but also if you honestly need more space then the 10 slot bags you’ll pony up for it. The vast majority of players in my opinion don’t need more then the 8 slot bags.
At first I balked at the high prices for 20 slot bags, but then I realized that I really don’t need such giant bags. With deposit collectibles and how easy it is to find merchants to sell junk to I never run out of space.
Anything beyond 15slot is just so you can say you have them.

Those are merchant prices, so they aren’t going to change unless ANet changes them.

Can you buy bags with gems and how much are they?
You can open additional bag slots with gems. Bag slots are per character, back slot account wide.
I’m running 12’s atm, 1 invis for weapon and gear swaps, 1 invis for kits, tools, with some space left over for things I find that I don’t want to sell just yet. I hardly find that unreasonable, yet I will regularly have to start salvaging stuff that I would RATHER MERCHANT right smack in the middle of an event or dungeon. Even though I empty my other 3 bags every time I go anywhere near a merchant.
So no, 8’s are not enough for everyone.
That said this is far better than GW inventories. I just think 2/10 gold is way too out there, especially considering that getting max gear when you get to 80 is nowhere near as easy as in GW. Most of your money and time is going to be going towards that for the foreseeable future. And god help you if you want to 400 a craft. Or you like to travel (5s fast travel fees? Really?) 1/5g would at least allow you to get decent bag space to help you in your efforts, and still have the prestige feeling when you finally get your 20’s.
who actually wants that? Do we really want to be playing those same game mechanics for
another 5 or 10 years? -Mike O’Brien

I think he meant that while the prices will still be the same, everyone will have more money so they won’t seem as bad as they do now.
While I agree that the availability of gold in the MArkets will assuredly increase, and so diligent market traders will be able to acquire more gold. For the casual players, these rune prices are unfairly high. They should scale back by 30-50% and then they would be reasonable. This may be an effort by Anet to get people to buy Gems and open bag slots, but that doesnt seem lkely, and in any case the cost of an extra 8 slot bag slot is cheaper than buying the runes. So it still makes the rune prices too high.
Similarly, equiping a legendary weapon does not make you a legend.
I hope this can be changed.
What’s worse, from a crafting stand point, is because they are so expensive people are trying to sell them so cheap on my server.
The 18 slot boxes are going for 2g 20s. After the 2g rune, all of that Mithril/mats and posting fee it’s a very small profit for something very, very few people can afford in the first place right now.
Hopefully prices will get better but I agree that the prices for the last two runes are a bit much.
You just need to wait untill the economy will stabilize. It’s only two weeks into the game, and considering the fact the trading post was not even working all the time, we shouldn’t make assumptions that it will be like this all the time.
In my opinion the prices of runes are fine, and the prices of final product (bags) will grow up in the future. Therefore the profit margin will also grow.
I do find the price jump pretty strange between 15 to 18 and to 20.
I find the 8 and 15 slots to be sensible priced, but the others seems rather sporadically set and set in a manner just to discourage using them.
I believe the first two runes are for 10 and 12 slots, not 8 and 10.
minor rune of holding for 8 slot 4.95 silver – actually 10 slot bag??
rune of holding for 10 slot 14.80 silver – actually 12 slot bag??
This has so far not been an issue for me although I will say silver/gold is tight and I’ve had to sell/farm some mats a few times.
However, the larger runes don’t look to offer great value for money I must say!
The kicker is that you gain more bag slots by just buying gems with gold, and then buying another bag slot, rather than buying an 18 slot rune. Anyone purchasing an 18/20 slot rune didn’t think things through. They really are grossly overpriced.
I have four 15 slot bags now. Probably next I will unlock another bag slot. Trading gold into gems and unlocking another bag slot and then using another 15 slot bag seems better(and I’m leveling a 2nd char that is leveling 2 other crafting professions – don’t want to switch everytime and have them all on 1 char… getting that other special bag then and need a new slot).
But I think the prices are okay. Next then probably I will go for bank slot. Maybe a few 18 bags. If you really want the top stuff you have to pay a lot more. It is not like you really needed it. So we don’t need to complain. Its just to be cool and show you have alot of money to afford it.
And it is possible to make that money. But will take time. And they probably want some people to buy gems and trade them into gold. Lol.
12/15 slots is enough to play without getting to the merchent every hr. 18-20 is more a thing where you can spent your money on when your a big richer.
But I do it strange that topic like this exist, more and more on these forums. Complaining about prices while the game is just 2 weeks out. I’m glade that I cant buy all the great stuff within 2 weeks.
But that shall only be me, it seems

I just find it funny that one Superior Rune of Holding costs more than crafting 6 pieces of level 80 exotic armor.

If you could keep on buying extra bag slots indefinately you would have a point.
But you cant – once you get to 8 total bag slots, the only way to get more space is bigger bags.
If you’re really full and don’t want to dump anything on the merchant, mail your items to a friend, and then have him click on “back to sender”, and you can grab them whenever you have room.
The prices are high but they’re reasonable.
It should take some effort to have the very best bags, it shouldn’t be a given.
Nobody needs 20 slot bags (or even 18) – they’re luxuries. Luxuries are expensive.

You start off with 4 bag slots. You’d gain 60 inventory spaces by buying slots + 15 slot bags. Around for the price of 2 18-slot runes. I’ve done the longest Arah route up to Simin (who, as of this writing, is bugged), and filled up my inventory around the priest of Grenth.
