With this Cooking Guide you should be able to get to Level 400 for about 1g 50s without having to explore for karma produce. Prices can shift very rapidly, so I’d like to start a weekly guide for the lowest-cost path to Level 400. Many players likely have most of the early ingredients. If you’re stuck in level 40-60, and you want a worth while level boost, sell some of your materials you’ve saved up, and do some cooking!

You are correct. The next best thing then is Chocolate + Orange to make… A Chocolate Orange!

The Griffon Egg Omelet comes from a karma vendor (Hylek) after a dynamic event where you guard him as he steals griffon eggs.

by those numbers it is approx 1g 28s to max out chef assuming you don’t have any of those materials. That is pretty cheap.

Having essentially nothing, this cost me well under 2g to do just now. Can’t thank you enough. One step closer to Master Crafter now, you rock! ^.^

btw level 0 and 225 discoveries didn’t work for me.

Just “tried!” to skill up to 400 with that guide:
can you change that stuff with “Discover”, if it´s already discovered (loaf of bread)?
also, Griffon Egg Omelet- needs a recipe, so need sth. different for 225
price is “much” more if you want to buy the items instant, so maybe 1.5g for ppl, wo can wait some hours to get that stuff ^^
tomatos=have to buy 2 (2×25)
toast with 50 (wtf, which toast?), had to craft it on my own..pls add to list or to craft (think it´s 25+)

I appriciate that you used your time to make a guide, but next time pls check for mistakes like these above (I´m only at 225, so there may be some more ^^)

that guide is written for ppl who use crafting boosters, right? because some time I get only 24 lvl with 25 items…don´t know why, had to throw in a booster

I just took a character from cooking 0 to 400.

Only ran into 2 bumps, otherwise it was a smooth run:

1. You need to add 25 sliced buttered toast to the shopping list. You might have forgotten it.

2. Take out the griffon recipe for 225 and just put in chocolate bar+ orange = orange cake x25. The crafter will need the 25 orange cakes for 275 anyway!

Other than that, perfect. Thank you for making this guide, it was a lot FASTER, EASIER, AND CHEAPER than the previous cooking guide I used for my main. Thank you.

Also to respond to the poster above, this guide wasn’t written for people with crafting boosters. I didn’t use one, and this guide worked perfect. There’s a bit of RNG involved when you’re crafting, I don’t know the math, but on a rare occassion, you will have to craft an extra 1-2 things to hit 25 instead of 24. Simply buy more of the ingredients and craft.

Once again, great job on the guide OP. I’m referring this guide to all of my guildmates!

Really awesome guide. 1.5g for an easy 10 levels is amazing. I just went through the shopping list, bought all the items on TP and followed the guide smoothly. It was almost perfect except for 1 or 2 items. But it’s pretty easy to figure out a cheap alternative.

Also at the time I did this Cayenne Pepper were close to 2s each. So I just made Peach Tarts instead, they were really cheap.

Best cooking guide on the internet to date. Costs virtually no karma or any exploring. Did it twice in less than 45 minutes.

p.s. People looking to do this for quick leveling look up Artificer guides, you can do that for ~1g too using potions.

I just found this guide today and used it with two characters. Not only did they level quickly, it helped me clear out a ton of stuff from storage.

Cost me less than 2g, but i had some ingredients with me. Still, it shouldn’t be more than 2g.

how can i make the bowl of roux, when i put stick of butter and bag of flour in the discovery boxes it says " 2 possible recipes " and that i need to put another ingredient.

What you’re missing is that you don’t discover it. You learn it automatically. Just look in your production tab.

I notice the prices on the auction house or 5-10x higher than what is listed in this guide. Was there a change recently that would account for this?

Hence my pt. about real world markets nerfing this…everyone ‘discovered’ this guide, hence driving up prices.

As i want to start cooking i started to apply this guide.
Went to the AH, the 75 stick of butter already cost between 12 and 13 silver.

Very good guide for those that want a quick way to get to 400. Me I want to bake/cook everything but that’s me. Very nicely done.

If u are looking for a guide, go write on google Gw2crafting or something like that, u’ll get a lot of results.

And I just leveled to 400 for about 10g using an older guide from elsewhere. Just my luck. :[

I didn’t have much gold but used this and it worked just fine, super fast to max out. Now I can move onward to more chef recipe discoveries, still very enjoyable!
