Will asc. gear reduce value + purpose of crafting?

There are multiple types of Infusions and Infusion slots. In November, we’ll introduce Offensive, Defensive, and Omni Infusions of Fine rarity from new Mystic Forge recipes. Infusion upgrade types must be paired with their like slot, with the exception of the rare and versatile Omni Infusions which can be slotted into any type of Infusion slot.

Infusions really come in different varieties. If they were just for agony resistance there wouldn’t be a need to have three distinct types with different naming (offensive, defensive, and omni). Now, this doesn’t necessarily entail different stats, but it does entail a difference. It could be the offensive infusions increase damage against mobs with a special defense that only occurs in the dungeon, defensive is for agony reistance, and omni does both..
Well there are going to be about 200 new recipes and new gathering nodes if i read the stuff correctly, so i’m sure Anet had crafting in mind for this patch. So i think crafters will be okay.
Edit: maybe not 200 new recipes but there’s new stuff for crafters.

I really hope that Arena Net thinks about all the people that invested their time and money and lets us use our crafted exotics as materials for the next tier.
Arena Net messed up big time making Legendaries such a far away accomplishment I hope they go with more of a stepping stone approach without punishing the people that reached the previous gear max.

Lost Shores is introducing a new “resource node”, and 200 new recipes, so my belief is that this new resource will allow crafters to craft their own Ascended items and Infusions. It’s just speculation at this point, but it just seems like a logical step. (Or if not, then we can always petition ANet to include this functionality at some point in the future.)
