2.6 Silver and 17.7k XP?
This is a bug with our new anti-speed clear tech, and we’ll have it sorted out soon. Sorry you (and others) are getting hosed by this.
Its almost like a PTR could have prevented this whole thing. Then again, I just play MMOs, im not a content designer,
I got a around 2 silver and 6k xp, ick! – glad to hear it is a bug and not someones idea of how it ought to be.

More testing always helps ( I was a tester in QA long before I was a designer). Better to be safe than sorry, and there was a ball dropped in this regard.
A test realm isn’t needed, however, testing IS needed. I still want to know how Zhaitan went public. Or is he legitimately supposed to just sit there as we beat him to death for 5 whole minutes as he doesn't move or do anything at all other than bore me?
I actually got up, went to the kitchen, got a drink and came back mid fight. That happened.
Sean, glad to hear I was not the only one this happened to… so that wasn’t a glitch? He is supposed to just sit there for the last 85% of his health? When that fight started I though, man, this is going to be rough. Then he just sat there and let me afk kill him.
Mr. Hrouda as you seem to be active in this thread, many of my guild members, myself included are curious as to what exactly is a sustainable way of making income currently as the dungeon rewards are admittedly broken and the “anti botting” tech is making it hard to farm in 80 lvl zones. Any info I’m sure would be greatly appreciated by myself, guild and many forum members.
Yeah I just did a second run, different path, not within 30mins or w/e and i got 9 silver… everyone else got way more. Really frustrating and unfair.

I hope that you can announce on the wiki/official post rather than replying random posts about bugs in the game. It’s frustrating for not knowing it is a bug or a mechanism.

Appreciate the acknowledgement that it is a bug. This was the only thing bothering me about the changes.
I’m pretty sure everyone is hoping for the Zhaitan fight to be changed dramatically. Everyone who has run it, anyway.

It is frustrating and unfair that it is happening, and we’re working on it (it has happened to me as well, and I share your pain). As a dungeon designer, it’s pretty upsetting to see dungeons being thrashed to pieces on forums due to this bug.
People are rightfully upset, and we have the best tech-priests on this side of the Imperium, and we’re all working to resolve this thing ASAP.
EDIT: Let’s keep things on topic, people.
It’s good to have an acknowledgement that this is a bug. Thanks.

Your last sentence was amazing. Bro love man, bro love <3
I don’t think people are bashing dungeons only because of this bug, Robert.
It’s just adding insult to injury really.
I’m glad to see you working on this issue at least, maybe next you could focus on introducing the dungeons (and skills they require) to broader audience instead of saying wide and loud they’re not for less experienced players, because it’s a waste of your effort if many people don’t even want to try them.

I"m really happy to hear some developer feedback, not to mention one willing to admit his mistakes!
I hate to ask for a suggestion Robert, but do you know if dungeon rewards will be upped? A common topic I see is people thinking dungeons are simply not worth all the effort.
after a couple of death, you should be kicked out of
the dungeon.
and, make the rewards better.
zergling forever and low reward just make angry players angrier and zergling more.
Your reward for completion is the satisfaction of taking 2+ hours, spending more money than you made, and not having fun.

There was a ball dropped every where in this game. lol maybe you should go back to testing.
Better just to get rid of the mechanic entirely.
If you think that people are thrashing the dungeons on the forums because of this bug you need to learn some reading comprehension.

It’s frustrating when you make certain parts of a dungeon that were already irritating exceptionally more frustrating while leaving the already existing easy sections … EASY. It’s far better dungeon design to have a consistent, or slightly ramping difficulty curve as your progress.
Not faceroll simple, to bothersome, to downright ignorant, to faceroll simple again.

It’s rather difficult to get anyones attention because if you have an issue and you speak about it on a forum you are the “Vocal Minority”
Kinda cool, just slap a dismissive title to a growing group and bang, low PR impact.
10,000 posters 8,000 agree and they still are the vocal minority. So, not much one can say or do that will have any kind of impact here folks.
Thanks for the feedback Robert! Hope it gets sorted soon, I really like the dungeons I’ve done so far
At least hes bothering to update us on whats going on Anyone else tired of these spoiled W.O.W. kids spamming the forums with useless complaints that have already been asked and answered. I’m all for pointing out errors when there are errors to point out, but for christs sake people; give the man some time to work it out, no need to brutallykittenthe staffs eye-balls with “QQ W.O.W. DID THIS WHY CANT YOU QQ”. They are completely different games with I’m sure is completely different game engines and scripts.
Keep up the good work ANET staff and don’t let these spoiled W.O.W kids bring you down!!

You get 1 copper from chest not the real reward. Well that’s another problem, 1c seriously

just like the “bag of gold” containing 4 copper, guess its fake chocolate gold with copper foil
also, people aren’t only thrashing the dungeons because of this bug, it was just the last straw not to overlook the poor design choices anymore.. the only exception being crucible of eternity, that one feels just right and has interesting mechanics in exploration even if the paths don’t even differ that much

Id like to award you 10,000 nerd points, but the diminishing returns system is malfunctioning and only awarded you 4. Sorry about that.

I’m sorry but if the vast majority of people can only enjoy a dungeon because of it’s reward, there is something seriously wrong with the design of the dungeons themselves. They should be a fun experience on their own, and I hope ANet can make it one in the coming months.
Take a look at Urgoz Warren for example: it was hard, rewards were not that great, took long but it was a lot of fun. No one had a problem with it, and a lot of people enjoyed it. That’s how dungeons should be: deadly, risky, fluid and team based. Increasing the rewards is only trying to heal the symptoms instead of the cause.
Reducing monster hp by a LOT, slightly increasing monster count and removing waypoints ( no more corpse running ) would go a far way in making dungeons much more fun.

Might have been the chest, not sure, but as you said… 1c… for a dungeon… You get more from mobs on lvl 2.

The bug is still there, and now it also affects tokens at the end.
For clarification.
The run took over 30 minutes.
It was the first in 5 days.
Still got reduced rewards.
Just tried another dungeon over 30 minutes later and got even less rewards than before.
Please ArenaNet, fix this bug. It’s pointless to run dungeons now because the rewards are less than I get from doing a single event.
A test realm isn’t needed, however, testing IS needed. I still want to know how Zhaitan went public. Or is he legitimately supposed to just sit there as we beat him to death for 5 whole minutes as he doesn't move or do anything at all other than bore me?

Now this I can agree with. I mean you literally stand there hitting 1 button for 5-10 minutes. I mean, if he’s not going to do anything then make it take 30 seconds tops. I’d just use the auto-cast feature, but it doesn’t work on abilities like that so I am forced to hit 1 button over and over again.
I tried run an explorable mode on an alt and seemed to get normal rewards there. Unfortunately the level of the alt is too low to run most of the dungeons my friends want to run.
i would like any kind of confirmation as to whether the reduced rewards will be compensated?
If i was told yes. then i’ll happily start running through more dungeons with the guild…
edit: mainly i’m interested in the emblems (screw the money, there are far superior ways of getting that)

Tried the Butler path in CM with 2 different groups, both 45+ and some 80s. Could not complete both times. I think we died about 30 times before giving up in one run. Oh and the repairs are lovely.
This reminds me of Office Space. Michael Bolton misplaced a decimal somewhere in the coding. 2.6→26 and 17.7k→177k. Simple fix; find the misplaced decimal!

“Simple” fixes, usually require lots of code changes, and testing…and as we’ve seen, have other unintended consequences. But there are definitely the rare errant fix, which is a missing comma, or period, but it can be the difference of getting as mentioned, 6 tokens vs 60 unfortunately.

This is the type of post that deserves praise, not retribution. THIS is what sets AN apart from the likes of Blizzard. In my eyes a humble and well meaning apology goes miles farther than whatever shady BS tactics they teach in PR school. Please continue to be upfront with the player base just as you have here.

I feel like the devs are really active in the dungeon forums lately. I like it! :-)
