I’m so thankful no LFG tool (beyond the existing one that no one uses, thus it being their own faults) has been added. WoW-style dungeon finders killed a large part of the MMO experience for me.
Without the lfg-site I would have quit a while ago. The chances to find a group via mapchat are probably zero percent for some dungeons. If that site goes off, there would be a huge impact on the game. It seems kind of careless not to bring an own lfg-tool into the game as fast as possible.
They don’t need more than the one they already put in.
it’s not a big deal. think about swtor and how quick they got a lfg tool in. yet it still sucked cause it wasnt cross server. at least we have that in place. using a website isnt that much of a pain. most already use one for dragontimers. big deal
Is there some reason gw2lfg.com isn’t working for you? I don’t see any reason for the devs to waste time and effort on something that has already been perfectly and successfully implemented. They have many other important things they are working on and bugs they are fixing. This would just be a redundant waste of time.
Whether or not someone think gw2lfg.com is successful or not is all relative. You clearly feel that it is a good tool and don’t want to “waste” dev time and energy on an in-game LFG tool. I, however feel that an in-game LFG tool is very much needed and very much worth dev time & energy. I can’t stand gw2lfg.com and is a waste IMO. Anyway, that’s my 2 cents.
why can’t you stand it? i know a lot of EU people have trouble with the tabs but beyond that it seems pretty simple to use.
The fact that is has ZERO tools to protect you from abuse as i and Dante mentioned above is more than enough reason to never use it IMO.
how could an ingame system stop them from putting your name up on a 3rd party site and doing the same thing?
If there was a in game system no one would use the third party site and it wouldnt exsist.
that wouldn’t happen.

If the devs do ever add a lfg tool to the game there is a 99.9% chance that they are just going to copy the website and add it to the UI. So i suggest you learn to like it.
It’s simple, functional, and effective, if they don’t copy it then it will be a failure in the eyes of most people.

hahah good one, you obviously don’t do fractals
100% agree with OP.
However i think A’net also has to really improve the fun factor of the dungeons.. I haven’t got statistcs but i bet less then 30% of the players actually do dungeons (and i mean explo modes).
OP is right..I mean who cares about refugees, laurels etc.etc. nothing is more frustrating then to go back and spam for people... oh and for those that clearly never done pugging much.. almost 100% chance that 1 or more pugs will leave in any dungeon run.
And also clearly for those that never had to spam mapchat to complete your team.. after a few post your chat funtion gets disabled.. try to find people then...
really a LFG system is very needed in this game.
Dungeon Finder is indeed a must have. It takes hours to find a group for Arah explorable.
7 months after the game has been released and I still have to visit a 3RD party website to find a dungeon group. Honestly this should be top priority on the update list not laurels and living 3achievement story.
Everytime it gets brought up “a team is hard at work blah blah blah” how about you step up and actually get it done because this is one of the most important updates this game needs to survive.
If you successfully ran 2-3 dungeons with other players, then you should have atleast 4-12 players in your Friends list.
Part of being “social”, as you mentioned, in GW2 is keeping good players you played with in the past in your friends’ list and run a dungeon with them again later.
The fact that you’re not keeping friends is hardly ANET’s fault if you choose not to be “social” regardless of how they advertized the game.
Your friends’ list is a great LFG tool.

i don’t add people i don’t know irl to my friends list, i’m not doing dungeons to make friends and i’m pretty sure a majority of the players are the same way
GW2LFG.COM is leveraged by a minority of the population, so we have a smaller pool of people looking for groups, longer wait times, etc. It’s also a pain to tab out if you’re on an older computer.
Not having a LFG interface is pretty kitten embarrassing in 2013.

It’s also embarrassing to not have Dx11 in 2013.
But the fact that there is already group finding tool and they won’t that why do one is still true, tho it’s shame. (It surely comes still, but later)
Just like the game is already bought by people they don’t “need to” make the performance of the game any better by adding Dx11. (They won’t get more money by adding support for it)
Just out of curiosity, but how long should someone take on average to build a group full of randoms? In theory and with few exceptions (eg. speed-farm groups), it should take less than a minute since there are no specialized individuals to wait for like a dedicated tank or healer.
Attached is a screenshot of me posting an LFG request for a less popular dungeon, Caudecus’ Manor, some time around 8AM Eastern and waiting for about 23 minutes for a response. I honestly think 23 minutes is way too long, despite playing during a time when people may still be asleep or getting ready for work/school. Personally, I’d say 1 minute during prime time hours, and 10 minutes during the slow parts of the day would be the acceptable times I’d take.
In a grand scope of things, how many people, in comparison to the entire GW2 player base, actually know and use GW2LFG.com? I’m willing to bet that it’s not that many. And if they do know, some probably don’t use it because of “security concerns”. I know a handful of people who would not even post their LFG request on that website because of that.
I think if an in-game LFG tool were to be implemented, then you wouldn’t have to rely on this website much to find people. It would also be easily accessible by all GW2 players without having to alt-tab out and use a web browser that may eat up CPU resources that could be better utilized in actually playing the game.
I dont feel to heavily either way with this but its starting to bug me there a a few big things people have consistentlly asked for since back in the beta and well anet seem content to keep ignoring people. It would be nice to see a ingame system but i doubt that it will be seen anytime soon. I think basiclly they have there own plan on how there doing things and no matter what the players feel about it there going to stick to it. Which is shame sd any mmos focus should be keeping the majority of players happy
