Hi there. Did you ever had the feeling that some classes are wanted more than others in dungeons and fotm?
Is this a balance issue or just the other classes are terrible at playing their own class ?

are we going to do something about it, or let it pass like this ?

It’s a balance issue. Some classes bring more to the table in terms of DPS and utility and others bring little to nothing and are more of a liability or dead weight. Warriors for instance offer the best DPS in the game in dungeons while also having innate tanky-ness and great utility. Guardians are the undisputed kings of utility in Dungeons. Mesmers are more or less used as fluff for the Warriors through time-warp, feedback is also a really great utility skill.

While Necromancers suffer from the bleed cap, poor minion A.I, and all-around lack-luster traits and skills. A full glass cannon power necromancer will still do pitiful damage in comparison to a glass cannon warrior and in a game where bosses and mobs are more or less just gigantic damage sponges, and there is no “Trinity”, groups tend to prefer more dps.

Its the same in WvW and PvP. Any class that’s not a Mesmer, Thief or Ele is basically just fodder for the above classes.

Class balance is essentially non-existent in this game.

While I agree with the OP, lets not get carried away here.

A grenade Eng, can pitch nades 1600 range and keep between 20-25 vulnerability on enemies at all times, that’s a 25% damage increase to the whole party, compared to a mesmer’s timewarp which is 27% increase.

Ele has great utilities in scepter/focus for some fights, and decent AoE damage in staff if built correctly.

Thief mass stealth is great utility in a few fights, and they deal single target damage comparable to a warrior.

Necro… ok necro’s useless.

Ranger is good to have in two fights, and essential if you’re going past 40. That pet res crap is pretty much the only way to bypass the agony cap.

There is balance in this game, it needs to be tweeked… but lets not carried away. I’m on fractal 38, and I’ve never turned someone away just cause their class doesn’t make a fight trivial.

Hi everyone,

We have this thread about class balance (not inly in Dungeons, but in every aspect) going on the the general discussion subforum https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Class-balances-on-Feb-26/page/2#post1489363.

Please feel free to join in and provide us with any feedback that we might forward to the team.

In the interest of keeping the forums organised and being able to track everything with more ease, we are going to close this thread.

Thanks for your understanding.
