Karl Marx: “Go away! Last words are for fools who haven’t said enough!”
You’re mistaken about the interaction of the order of field placement.
Edit: to better explain I can drop a fire bomb first but If a necro puts a well on top of it before the bomb explodes even though it was laid down first the field started second. and given that the dark fields for many wells last for 5 seconds while fire bomb’s fire field only lasts for 3 seconds it can completely block the fire field from blasting.
No I play an engineer and the fire field I generally use is from the bomb kit, to maximize blast finishers in the bomb kits fire filed I drop the thumper turret first followed by big old bomb, fire bomb, then magnetic intervention, overcharge the thumper turret, detonate the turret and then use rumble…I suppose the problem is coming in that after I explain this to the necro(s) in the party they still often do it, the fire bomb once laid down a necro can put their well over the top of it as it last longer than the bomb kit’s fire field it essentially cancels it out. I don’t place these directly in melee or onto of mobs either I generally try to set these all up before a mob is pulled.

He understands what’s happening, it’s just the terminology.
Infamous: just FYI the field that is on bottom takes priority.
Sorry I must really be explaining this horribly and sorry about that. I understand that the field on bottom is the one that takes priority, but when a fire bomb is place it doesn’t immediately become a fire field, it has a delay before it explodes, and that is when I keep getting dark fields put over the top of it, once it has been set but has not yet exploded. LOL perhaps I’m just whining too much.

Nah it’s a legit complaint, but to be expected when pugging with necros. If they don’t have the presence of mind to bring a better class to a dungeon they probably don’t have the faintest understanding of utilizing blasts to stack might. They probably also think spamming area blinds is pretty awesome despite fighting Dredge.

Don’t be daft broad… blinding mobs is an OP strategy.

Part of the problem also I think is that engi is a really underplayed class, so while many people will recognize the ele fire field, it might not be obvious that the fire bomb is a fire field. Same with healing turret and its water fields. Unless you’ve played or played a lot with an engi you probably recognize those as fields, since they are so short and don’t have an obvious radius. You could attempt explaining it, but I’ve found in general pugs are allergic to suggestions about how to play their class.
I feel your pain though. I usually console myself with the fact that at least he’s running wells, and not minions. I’ve all but given up on getting blast combos off in pugs, which is why I run staff on my ele and not s/d.
If it’s any consolation, the necro is almost certainly dropping either well of suffering or well of corruption. Suffering is an attempt at damage, corruption is an attempt to cancel the boonspam on a group of dredge.
If they’re dropping well of darkness on dredge, even I wouldn’t blame you for just kicking them from the group.
Of course, it’d be nice if they alternated their wells with your fields.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
there are only 2 area combos in dungeons:
area might
and
area table flip
P.S. and i totally understand OP, my warrior’s fire field and blast got delay too, and usually i launch them at the same time, so if someone casts field in the landing area before my fire field hits the ground, my blast finisher gets wasted

The only time I bring my Necro is when I am showing people how to play a Necro or I am just dying to play it because I enjoy the way it plays, and I always make it a point to let the group know that I will be hurting team dps a bit by bringing my Necro and only bring it if they’re okay with that. That said, layering fields in an intelligent way is the number one thing I teach my friends (who are all dirty casuals, bless their hearts) who want to learn how to play a Necro. It is critical that you watch it as carefully as you can. Still, in spite of that, sometimes it’s hard to predict when your S/D Ele is dropping their 4 or when a Warrior is going to swap to a LB and F1. Sometimes mistakes happen, and make no mistake: When I see “Area Blindness” in the Dredge fractal, I die a little inside (even more so if I am the Necro).
Don’t you just love it when you have the enemy all nice and balled up in a big pile of AoE and along comes Mr Mesmer or Ms Necro and fears/illusionary waves them out of all the damage dealing sparkly spells.
