AC EX Lvl 35 complete (See other thread)
Good luck! I look forward to watching the run.
I look forward to seeing the second streak of endless tears on the forum.
ButbutBUT you had the sigils on your WEAPONS! You died ONCE! You’re not in blues!
IT’S NOT FAIR!!!!! AC IS IMPOSSIBLE YOU CHEATED!!!! Wahhhhh….

It’ll be fun to watch. Both the stream and the forum, I mean. Buena suerte.

This is just a baseline test of whether or not it is POSSIBLE for those levels to do it.
Keep in mind the people in the team already have extensive experience running AC so it’s not a valid test to see whether a normal pug team can do it.

Of course, Anet never intended the explorable mode dungeons to be easily doable with a normal pug team, so I think our run is going to be a fairly good test of how well their intentions have worked out.
Also keep in mind that while we may all know what’s going on in the dungeon, all of us are playing professions that we are unfamiliar with. In other words, we’ve only had 35 levels’ worth of experience playing these characters, and I think only one of us has had actual dungeon experience with his/hers (AC Story so he/she could unlock Ex for us).

Knowing the mechanics and encounters makes a huge difference. Even full teams of 80s with best possible gear can still wipe if they don’t know the mechanics first time around.

Of course. But I’m not sure the dungeons were ever designed to allow players to go through with 0 risk of wiping, even if they knew the encounters. That’s what makes them challenging and fun, after all.

The point is, your team is going in with preknowledge of the mechanics and events of that dungeon as well as preparation time and voice chat.
This gives you an advantage over normal pug teams which usually don’t have very good knowledge meaning it’s not a valid test of whether or not a normal pug team can do it at 35 but rather if it’s POSSIBLE for a lvl 35 team under ideal conditions to do it.

Why are you continuing to insist that it should be possible for a normal pug team in blues to do it? It clearly wasn’t Anet’s intent for that to be possible, as has been their platform from the start.
Good luck guys, I’m looking forward to the stream.
Scrub Logic.
Thanks for all the well-wishes everyone!

I never insisted that.
I was just clarifying what your test is for and what it’s not for.
If you fail, then it’s an indication that lvl 35s just simply can’t do it even with organization.
If you succeed, then it means that it’s possible.
But that still doesn’t mean a lvl 35 pug team in a real gameplay situation will be able to do it.
So basically, I was clarifying that your test is what is known as a boundary test.
That’s the clarification.
Can’t wait to watch the hodgins/burrow part.
Can’t wait to watch the hodgins/burrow part.
Yeah, that part has us the most worried as well. We’ll need to do some creative thinking because we can’t just quick-DPS down the burrows anymore. We’ll see what happens!
lol now I wanna come too bad I don’t have an alt at 35. The real issue is if troll spawns is it better to pull it to kholer or kill it separate : P
I suggest you all go glass cannon style just to keep the challenge going : O

We won’t be doing anything glitchy or things that can be counted as “exploity,” so if we do run into the Troll we will likely be pulling it to a safe place where we can’t get sent off edges to our deaths and fighting it there.
Just as matter of full disclosure, I wasn’t aware of the no Rune/Sigil restriction. If it’s that big I a deal, I re-gear.
Going to be That Guy. Can’t help but notice you have a Guardian. That itself makes this attempt much more bearable. Even at level 35 you have access to all of the guardian weapon skills to get protection stacks, on top of the shouts you can unlock by 35 for more regen and protection. Most groups I run, both all 80 or all lowbie rarely have guardians and that makes a hell of a difference.
I figured I should post my build. Took some pics of the gear and stuff just now. Sorry, I have underleveled gear, so call me a n00b.
I also have a lvl 35 masterwork greatsword and a lvl 29 masterwork shield I might occasionally swap in. I was also unaware of the no runes part so swapped in some talismans and marks. Some of the gear already had runes in them too so yeah…
[EDIT] It goes without saying, I’ll be swapping utilities where useful.
PS: I’ve run AC around 4 times since it was changed (2x on path 1, 1x path 2 and 1x path 3) so I’m not that polished for this dungeon.

And because I was curious, I logged into my other lvl 80 Asura warrior to compare stats. The Asura is wearing a similar gear angle as my lvl 35 (basically power build with an additional focus on condition damage) but since this isn’t his normal build (which is a knight’s armor build for hammer/GS) so only has rare trinkets. The Charr warrior is almost full berserker + exotic trinkets built for axe damage and regen banners (he has legs and shoulders with healing for the regen, I also do extensive soloing with this warrior).
Compare and contrast
No way! Does that mean that downscalling actually works?
Could just mean I don’t have the lvl 80 warriors geared right(one is all exotic but crit damage scales horribly…he’s getting only 1/3 of his crit damage and that’s 1/3 of all his stats. The other warrior has exotic weapons/armor but rare trinkets)…but then even my lvl 35 warrior doesn’t have runes.
Exotics at lvls 60-80 should be compared to rares at lvls 30-59.
The community will never be happy becouse You are trying to prove that is doable where most fail at 80, so You will prove them tha it they lack skills or something, and this is something You should never ever tell/show/prove the community… so the community allways know better when they say it’s undoable it must be undoable period.
I cheer for You guys that You waste Yout time just to prove something that is allready doable to the “screen or didn’t happen” peaple. Unless You do it with lvl 33 naked characters without any trait point spend the community will never ever be pleased – that’s how the community always is
I’m seriously waiting for all the “but You had greens not blues! but You had guardian warrior mesmer setup OP classes, but there is snowing outside!” etc.
cheers!
I am the same as Mourningcry, I can also re-gear as needed.
And I (a man) was the one who ran through AC story and it was a breeze, didn’t down once and had 3 newcomers, all at 30-45. I think I have a semi-grasp on my mesmer.
edit 2: If we’re using voice chat is it ventrilo/mumble/raidcall or something? Just mail me the info.

I made a change to the Rune and Sigil requirements since Karma gear already has runes and sigils on it. Just don’t put separate ones into the slots.

Lol too late for me. Already replaced the runes. I did put that sigil of corruption in the bow as that’s a rather cornerstone of conditions….but yeah, I’d have to go back to each karma vendor and repurchase (can’t even remember all the ones I bought from as I was practically buying new gear after every heart quest and for 0 cost!) as well as transmute some of it to keep my Asura looking cute and awesome.
I’ll stick with what I have and hope there’s no objections as I’m too lazy to recollect T_T
It is so funny see those who scream in the forums that AC its impossible at lvl 35 saying now tons of silly excuses to deny the fact: AC is perfect doable at 35, period.
If green, if yellow, if blues, if sigils, if runes, if knowledge… Jeez, this game is about skill and use your brain to defeat the dungeons nothing else.

Tbh I have only seen one “silly excuse” (the guardian one), everything else (actually only 1 person) has simply been clarifying in this thread.
I am just now getting back to GW2 after some months of away time in order to focus on classes in my final semesters, so you will need to excuse me if my following suggestion has been patched.
There used to be a pattern in the way that the burrows in that path opened up. The only major threat spawn from a specific branch of the pattern. Once you knew that, you could have a couple of people tank the of the burrows while others took out the others. Then, when you were done with the easier to handle branch you could then all focus on countering the harder branch of the burrow spawns at once rather than being spread thin.
I know it was not as much of an accomplishment then, but we completed it as a level 35 pug quite simply once we discerned that pattern. Maybe that will help if it wasn’t already common knowledge by this point/isn’t updated to have changed the mechanics of the burrow segment.
Good luck with your run! If I’m back home from Atlanta by that time I may tune in.
Oolune :: Engineer — Arrow Of Oolune :: Human Ranger -- Shadow Of Oolune :: Human Thief
Box The Turtle :: Human Warrior — Bolobuns Of Steel :: Human Guardian
Don’t worry about rune/sigil usage. It’s all a hodge-podge anyways.
70 – 90 % of pug will not be able to do that. But its a amazing video to watch.
Change de Ele for a Engie or the Guardi for a Thief (or change both) and maybe i take this seriusly. Not all the pugs has an Ele and an Guardi so conveniently for the icebow and the stability that they may bring to AC.

Well then, not all PUGs would have a thief for their stealth or an engie for their amazing versatility now would they?

Actually I think he just shot your point down, which was that you didn’t have a point, you’re just placing pointless stipulations on this.
In more positive news: Stream starts in 2 hours guys!
Good luck. I expect you’ll succeed. A different type of test would involve 5 players with little to no dungeon experience running exotic gear 80’s. I think we can predict with some degree of accuracy that knowledge of the dungeon, communication and coordination will trump any differences in stats.
Run’s in 10 minutes!
Starting now, stream link here:
Hey guys, I’m just letting you know the stream is working. I’m watching it right now.
Good luck!
EDIT: Just watched your run of Path 1. Excellent demonstration guys.

First path cleared. Time was about 42 minutes, essentially no skipping, only one player ever defeated that I noticed (who managed to be revived during the fight) and an all around solid run.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
Thanks for the group and thanks to those in the stream.

That would be me, the absolute nub ranger who’s not used to managing pets and playing a mini-RTS in the middle of a fight. I got overwhelmed T_T.
But I’m glad we didn’t wipe!

Lots of fun guys, look forward to play with you all again. New thread for more recognition?
