AC exp anyone experience this?
Yes, it’s happened to me before, in AC em only though where the time was slower. I had a group who would skip the very first graveling burrows right before the spider boss, which was a total pain because glass cannons die a decent amount to it, not to add the fact that some players weren’t full geared exotic and level. I don’t see why people don’t kill the LT seeing as he spawns the waypoint for closer teleporting.
I guess pugs will be pugs
It is really simple.
If the group is not proficient (which one can tell from Spider Queen), the party should avoid skipping. Just to facilitate running back. However, if the party is bad, they are as likely to wipe on bosses as with trash mobs (scavengers).
If the group is good, skipping is totally fine. I will leave Kholer up to the rest since he drops silver and bags. There is now additional incentive to kill him.
Just take everything in stride. When in PUGs, you should adjust your expectations accordingly.
This happened a lot in Diablo III before they put in Paragon levels. Trash gave you nothing, so people didn’t bother with it
Instead of nerfing speed runs, or nerfing the reward and increasing it back by killing trash, i’d rather see either trash capable of dropping tokens, or the end reward increasing relative to how many trash mobs and bosses you downed.
I agree with Servanin. If the Trash dropped decent loot or even tokens I for one would be happy to kill it. Currently I’m running AC for the token gear and i would prefer to run past everything i can even Kohler. Its simply a matter of how fast get I get the tokens. And the bags don’t even give a decent amount
guard,mes,thief,ele,engi, warr sidekicks.
The World isnt fair. the same can apply to a game
Over the past two days I’ve had to pug several AC groups. Every group skips every single mob they possibly can and usually wipe on just about every boss at least twice. Then they have to run back though said trash mobs they skipped and usually die to them too. Am I the only on experiencing this? I know that no one wants to kill trash but it’s trash, it’s not that hard. They even skip bosses when they can (guy near the troll spawn, can’t remember his name). What is the point of that?
When I run AC with my guild we kill everything, and we still finish faster than these pug groups I join that skip everything. So my question is, why? Especially when the group wipes at a boss and has to run back though that trash.
i’ve been running AC very regularly for about a month or two (two chars leveled from 35-80 basically through AC alone). and before the bag o wondrous update, i routinely voted to skip kholer and any possible trash mobs. why? because trash mobs drop nothing that isn’t dropped somewhere else, really, and i don’t run MF because MF doesn’t work for chests (why??? if you don’t want players switchin armor, then roll the chest’s drops WHEN IT SPAWNS). it’s really usually just a waste of time, even after the update.
but post-update i always vote to kill kholer and the troll if it pops up, unless i’m in a team full of noobs. i’m probably never going to kill the trash mobs, since they massively buffed dungeon loot for almost everything but them. most of the time the mobs are boring HP sinks (especially in AC). i want my bags, i want my 10s from bosses. but the spider trash? the graveling trash? nope and nope. i’m going to make a cool gold off the dungeon run + tokens + karma + xp. i want my three runs down as quickly as possible. the bag of wondrous goods works because it made fighting bosses one of the most profitable exchanges of time for reward available and bosses are usually at least engaging encounters.
that said, skippers should make it clear up front they want to be skipping things. it’s not fair to try to make a level 35 run through things because they think it’s “easier.” it often requires a knowledge of the dungeon most newbies simply don’t have, of its timings and rhythms and twists and turns.
i think what’s most important is players communicating before hand and deciding what to skip and what not too. there needs to be compromise for the sake of everyone being on the same page. and that way, you can find out beforehand if someone is deadset on skipping past everything, kick them, and find a replacement before you waste any time.
Oh, I know why people skip, I just don’t understand why because it’s not as if the dungeon is hard. Even killing every trash mob, a normal guild run with my guildies and maybe one pug takes about 25 minutes if not shorter. If we run all three routes, that’s about an hour and a half. Do people have that much of an “gimme now” attitude that they can’t invest and hour and a half in AC? What’s funny is that skipping actually makes it take longer in your normal pug group, it just doesn’t make sense. Every pug I’ve been in that skips content, ends up wiping later on in the dungeon to said skipped trash or a boss. Then the nearest spawn point is at the beginning of the dungeon and you have to run back though the trash and probably won’t make it in time before the rest of the group wipes. This is counter productive and makes the dungeon take longer then it should. Last night we did the ghost eater route (easiest route) and the turrent building part took almost 40 minutes because they would run too far away from mobs, said mobs would agro the NPC and kill her, then get killed and have to run back though trash to get there. Then, they wouldn’t DPS the mobs in the correct order (necro, ele, ranger, etc…) and would try to rez the npc instead of killing off the mobs first. Even though, when you rez her with mobs around she instantly attacks the nearest mob instead of working on the turrent. When I tried to explain this, I was instantly greeted with a bunch of F-bombs and told that I didn’t know what I was doing. Even though I’ve got 3 level 80s and each one has a decent amount of AC gear (mainly weapons).
Sure some pugs might not know the fights, but that’s hardly an excuse to skip. Actually, that’s more of a reason to run the dungeon like it was intended, killing everything, so they learn the “twists and turns” of the dungeon. It’s actually more confusing for people new to the instance to skip mobs IMO. Trash doesn’t drop much yes, but that’s why it’s trash. If you want it to drop tokens or better loot then Anet needs to buff trash. You can’t have your cake and eat it too, as they say. Besides I’ve gotten some rare and even exotic drops off trash before. With a omnom bar I’ve even got 5 or 6s before. Not a lot, but it’s trash.
Sorry, this was a rant spawned by a couple pugs in a group I was in who didn’t know a kitten thing about the instance. All they did was skip and refuse to rez anyone, forcing the group to run back. Couldn’t focus marked targets, couldn’t kill mounds, two eles’ who wouldn’t summon ice bows at first, and them cursing up a storm at me when I would tell them how a particular boss fight or mechanic worked because they clearly didn’t know how.
one of the main differences is what each person wants out of the dungeon run. if you’re looking for a speed run, then specify when you join a group. if you’re looking to take your time, then specify that as well. i’m down to do anything, i can skip, i can fight, i enjoy myself either way and going with the majority saves a lot of trouble and grief and make the runs generally smoother.
one thing i can’t appreciate though is if you’re going to skip, do let people know ahead of time, and not afer you’ve aggro-ed all the mobs. this is mainly for those who don’t know the dungeon as well.. for e.g. you run, you aggro the scavengers, they charge up, people who don’t know what’s going on are already a second late to react, they start running, for some reason, don’t dodge, and get knocked-insta-downed.
if you’re looking for a quicker run, if you’d let people know what your plans are, it’d be that much smoother. doesn’t help when you have to wait on 2 or even 3 out of 5 members caus eyou’ll just end up waiting and wasting more time. which is.. counter-productive…

[CDS] – Sanctum of Rall
I remember being in some noob party that wanted to do a speedrun (before the upgraded loot). We would skip everything, including the spider and the gravelings on the traps. Even after I de-activated the traps, there were still 2 people continuously dying on that group of gravelings, it was insane. And every time they had to run back from the starter waypoint. I bet we could’ve killed everything in the time they finally made it through alive.
Now it is no point skipping boss like spider and the one in tunnel, because u get reasonable reward for waisted time, the only boss we skip is the central and troll because it is just waist of time and to annoying boss( I dont say what it is hard to kill but this bosses are just waist of time and wary easy to skip for pugs).
sorry for bad English
