Bugs happen, it sucks to say something is fixed and turns out someone still might have an issue. Most of the time its a problem between the seat and the keyboard though.
I look forward to your dungeon overhaul btw, can’t wait to start doing dungeons, my experience has been way too bad.
What I want to know is how they have the nerve to ask us to bug test their game when they should have it fixed in the first place.
The path is broken? I run the path every day and have never had the said bug happen. Skipping the trash has been known to bug out the boss fights starts. Kill the trash, get loot, and you can complete then dungeon.

So are you still experiencing this issue, or are you basing your comment on the original post? if the latter, then I might reconsider based on his oh so intelligent and detailed post.
My guess? Is the NPC was being attacked by mobs his group ran past, or the NPC was dead. I doubt this got past ANet, and am voting for the issue to be a problem between the seat and the keyboard for this user.

This is basicaly the problem. My dungeon party do the dungeon as Shamrocky.5036 explains (clean all trash) but when we read that ANet fix it in this changelog we think “hey, spare ourselves 3 boring minutes”.

Well, thats the unfixed bug. But also we found a new bug-WayPoint (what a surprise…) in path 2 that send you to outside the dungeon, and you can walkitteneraly over the roof. We dont do nothing special with this, just start the dungeon and the WP was there at some point (we noticed him at final, when the dungeon go broken) and walk some time over the dungeon.

Can we just delete Detha please? She bugs for me once every 5 runs of p2 or so, and she bugged today on my first run of p2 too. This is the FIRST dungeon in the game, and it’s still bugged, how?
This must be recent because I was running AC a lot and Deltha Burke (that’s what I call her) stopped bugging about a month ago and I haven’t had a problem since.

I’ve played many MMO’s and you are by far the best dungeon dev yet. Bugs happen but you guys have done a wonderful job with the dungeons.
When I first started doing them I didn’t enjoy them but that was because I wasn’t playing the game as intended.

Silly pug method. I’ve done it with 4 people not kiting. I actually really like that they have some actually challenging parts like Fractals, P3, SE P1 and that part, balances out the mindnumbingly easy dungeons like HOTW

Ok, not sure if it has been described in detail already, but I will explain what happens leading up to Path 2 glitching for me.
When we are in a rush and try to bypass mobs just outside the door before she constructs the cannons, it is more likely to happen then not. In fact, I have almost never seen it happen when you clear out the Oozes and Gravlings at the door/stairs.
When we do attempt to run past the mobs just before the door to the cannon room, Detha will engage them in combat for a bit, then after we clear it out, she will begin he normal path… only now, she stands where the ghost pops out of the ground and is supposed to say something like “A char! its building some device!” … only he never pops up.
If this does happen, we have found that leading some of the leftover mobs into the room and allowing Detha to die and then rezzing her can fix the problem, but not always. I feel as though Detha engaging in combat from the mobs outside the door has a lot to do with what is glitching her. Although I’m no programmer and cannot be sure.
OP please curse less. The guys made the best MMO in years, cut them some slack, they are working on the issues and no they are not putting bugs for fun lol. Bugs are bound to happen and I’m telling you this as a software engineer. You just can’t predict all the outcomes, that’s why your Windows OS is rumoured to have poor security. So yeah calm down, file your bug report and enjoy some other dungeon/path in the meanwhile

It doesn’t happen every time. But it is a problem that need attention. It requires certain conditions to be met, and even the, it doesn’t always happen.
Oni, thank you very much for that description and your thoughts. I will get our QA to try that a few times, and I’ll look into Detha’s scripting to try and see if there are any disconnects there.
The reason this bug still exists is because we can’t reliably replicate it, so we can’t assuredly develop a fix for it. For this last patch I took a look at some of her scripting and a few interlocking parts in that area, and found a couple gaps to close off. Without knowing exactly how to reproduce the bug though, I am shooting at the dark for fixes and just hoping I hit what the main issue causing problems are. Good descriptive posts like Oni’s above are a great way to help us.
If you run into a bug, write up a post/ticket about it with good description of what is going on. It helps us greatly when you explain what you are doing when the bug happens.

Huh, never happened to me.
My guild when running this just kills mobs in the way with little to no issue.
Maybe if people actually stopped trying to super speed dungeons, they wouldn’t have these problems in the first place.

This bug usually happens when:
1. its takes too long to reach the main objective
2. the NPC died too much and not rezzing them
3. Skipping trash mobs.
4. This happens to us frequently when we start killing spider queen and kholer.
5. When doing speedruns (15-20mins) skipping everything thats not part of the main objective this rarely happens unless we met the number 2(the npc dieing too much)
Note: this is for both path 1 and path 2
As long as you don’t spawn red oozes before finding second scepter parts you will be fine. All you have to do is hug the left wall where oozes would normally spawn. Once you get that part of the quest done you can go back the normal way and kill all red oozes.
Robert, I’m glad I could be of help in the search for a solution for this problem.
Some other pieces of information I forgot to add before was that, in some cases, Detha seemed to be more likely to glitch if she is engaged in combat while she was inside the room, near the tunnel/entrance. Since that killing her in the room via the mobs outside seems to occasionally fix the glitch, maybe it is what causes it in the first place.
This is just another semi-constant scenario I have noticed. This scenario still doesn’t always lead to glitching.
@Kenny – just wanted to second this. for Path 1, if you hug left wall, NPC most likely won’t engage with oozes / spawn more of them. though i’ve never bugged out before in AC, puggies have mentioned when NPC does fight them, it tends to bug more.

I bumped to this bug 2 times and I think this has something to do with how Detha is following the group.
1) The bug happens to me when our group split up to reach cannon area from the trap event. (1 goes to Kholer WP -> bridge, the other run through the right side of the map)
2) 1 person AFK after Kholer (in WP) while 4 of us finish the trap event.
I haven’t tried to reproduced it, but so far, these are the two times Detha bugged for me.
I can say at this point some in my guild choose not to do the Path any longer
Granted we can try to train through and do it which more often then not will now glitch her. Before this wasn’t really an issue but almost every time I have been in lately it happens.
We have attempted to let her die with no fix we have also gone back and killed all the mobs no fix.
My only suggestion would be to have her set to interact when she is in the location much like a retry attempt with the traps this might resolve the issue and allow people to progress.
Without knowing exactly how to reproduce the bug though, I am shooting at the dark for fixes
The event objective is “go with Detha to the Hall of Champions”. Simply trigger it when a) that event objective is being displayed and b) Detha arrives at the Hall of Champions.
And if players make the mistake of dragging a ton of enemies into the Hall of Champions (causing the ghost event to start before all the oozes / gravelings are dead), well, they’ll just have to deal with that (and they’ll learn to take care of the gravelings before leading Detha to the map marker, next time).
Alternatively, make it so that when she arrives she simply gains a new dialog option (“We are ready, you can start building the cannons.”), to give players some control over the triggering of the next part (ghost spawns).
The current scripting seems to be looking for a lot of hidden conditions instead of sticking to the actual event objective. Keep it simple (but reliable) and players will learn to deal with it.

Get rid of Detha, that voice actor is the worst anyway.
In my experience, Detha seems not to start the event, if she is under the impression that some enemy has aggro on her, or Detha has aggro on a monster she cannot run to.
This usually happens if you run past all enemies after the “trap event” and some players attack the mobs while bassing by.
Usually you can fix Detha by simply killing the enemies you skipped, preferably only the last group of gravelings, preferebly pulling them into the mortar room so Detha will participae in the attack. After you kill one mob chances are good she snaps back into “must build mortar mode”.
You could also take the two minutes and fight your way from trap room to mortar room, but is suppose that is unacceptable.
I find that she bugs out at mortars when people skip the mobs comming up to it. The oozes, the gravelings. The best way to avoid this bug ( and it works!)
is this: As you run up past the oozes, NO ONE enter the orange circle on the map.. you know the big one indicating where Detha has to put her mortars?
Stand outside of it and wait until all the mobs chasing you have reset. Wait until detha has caught up to you and isn’t agro’d on anything. Then proceed to enter the orange circle and she will be fine.
Now because this solution works, I wonder if the issue itself is because Detha is torn between her mortars and fighting mobs when she enters the orange circle, and this breaks the chain of events, leaving her just standing there like a potato.

I’ve had staying out of the orange circle bug that zone more often than any other ‘idea’.
Seriously, just get rid of Detha and make the objectives triggered by hitting a button.
I will make it simple to replicate this. Keep doing this and you are bound to run into the problem. I have ran into this problem many times and have to kill Detha for her to reset and unglitch.
When she is about to or while talking to the ghost in last part, if she detects an enemy (this means the oozes outside if you ran through without killing them), she WILL go and attack it. Whether she wins the fight or not, she WILL glitch 90% of the time.
This glitch is fine. No worries. I can fix it.
You know what pisses me off? The glitch with path 1 NOT finishing after killing the last boss. I tried everything and it does not trigger the end. So I get no loot. Happened to me twice already. Please fix. I think it started happening since last patch.
killing the oozes seems to prevent the bug rather effectively so far, but yes, taking out npcs in most dungeons look like a good idea

Yes, Detha is still bugged. It happened to me twice with two different groups. Each time we skipped all the mobs leading to the cannons. And also, each time at least one of our team members were downed by the mobs on the way there. I’m not sure if Detha was following the person who was downed, but that was the scenario. Also, getting Detha killed by mobs and reviving her didn’t fix the problem.

I think I’ve run path 2 around 100 times and it has bugged for me ONCE and that was like 2 months ago. The ooze skipping issue is a known culprit, so do yourself a favor and don’t skip that fight, it takes what 20-30 secs to kill max?

I don’t know what kind of speed runs you are doing if it’s taking you 20 mins to run path2 skipping spider and kohler. I kill spider and kohler and it’s taken me 19-22 mins.
Just happened to me. Sure enough, skipped the trash mobs that lead up the stairs to the last part. The stalkers and the oozes. The event bugged and wouldn’t start.
Edit: If it helps, I noticed the mobs fought each other at one point near the gate, but inside the room. Also, I went back and killed all the mobs after the fact.
Nothing happened still.

Once I stoped skiping mobs, Detha stoped bugging for me.
The ooze previous the cannon room seems to be the issue. If she goes for them in the middle of the cutscene she wont resume it. Just kill everything and stop being a speed runner and you won’t have problems with it.
Zerk is the average Joe build. Don’t pat yourself in the back too hard.

you don’t see a path and avoid… you simply just run through which is not the same. Detha don’t think its the same, so she engages the enemies attacking her instead of running out of combat.
