Since many of the posts in this forums seems to discourage in trying almost everything, I’d like to share my recent experience on Arah p4.

Last Saturday I had a PUG of 5 first timers, for 1 of us (a ranger, shame on us) it was also the first time in Arah, but we manage to complete the path.

Two of us did our homework by reading and watching guides, the others were kind enough to follow our tips.
We obviously weren’t a speed clear group, it tooks about 3 hours with few wipes (on thrash mobs!) to finish it, but it was not the tragedy I expected by reading the forum.

TDLR
Don’t be discouraged by negative experiences, you can play your class the way you want, also with casual groups. You will be able to get the results. It may only require more time.

PS: no player has been hurted, kicked, flamed, chilled and so on during the run

Simin has been nerfed to the ground which was the only real “hard” part as many comps didn’t have the dps and coordination to break the invuln/out dps the heal. Congrats on getting the path done though

Im amazed all of you had the patience to stick it out for 3 full hours. I remember my first arah run, was getting close to 2 hours and we were all about to give up.

Gz on getting it done and sticking it out though.

The keyword here is 5 PuG first timers. Three hours isn’t that bad considering if you hadn’t done it before + PuGs. Who knows what they gears they bring. Congrats.

First timers of Arah or First timers of P4? The description isn’t clear. If they all are 1st timers of Arah and trying p4 as the first Arah attempt, then the majority (at least 3) are very competent players and it’s remarkable, since they haven’t been wiped at Lupi at all. And once you are competent player, you know darn well that you are. No BS about that, even the thread’s title said “incompetent”.
On the other hand, there isn’t anything remarkable about 1st timers of p4, pug or no pug. You got lucky w/ pug (or not) and you got poor players in regular guilds (or not). Just watch the videos, guides etc, and following the instructions, anyone can do it within 3hrs.

3 hours!? I could have made 30 gold in CoF in that time! Granted I would never do CoF beyond receiving <20 tokens per run, but the point still stands. In fact that run probably cost you money in armor repairs, stuff and that.

We all know the place to make gold is CoF, but that isn’t fun after about 5 minutes. The OP, along with many other people who play this game, like to enjoy all it has to offer and not mindlessly monkey our way through CoF for 8 hours a day.

I’ll never understand why people ragequit. If you spent 3 hours with random people in a dungeon you’re practically lifelong friends.

And you just might have more fun then when you try to speed your way through the dungeon.

Took me 4 hours to do p4, two hours on simin because he was bugged, seriously, he couldn’t go under 50% hp, he just went into regeneration mode, we had to reset 2 times, apparently, that was the solution if we ever faced that bug, and reseting means collecting a whole lot of tears, and 4 of us, (including me) were inexperienced, 3 of the party members got dungeon master after that run, it was a good experience.

yeah the “play the way you want” part is the giveaway.

we believe in that too, by the way. it’s just that the way we want to play is not with 3 hour runs.

FYI – We take engies, thieves, rangers, necros… heck we take any professions available on runs all the time, and they never take 3 hours. My guild did it with only 1 war and one non-DPS guard BEFORE the nerf patch (2 engineers… lol).

I think the longest run we have ever done was CM, which is a hilariously terribly designed pile of steaming ridiculousness. That maybe was 3 hours, but mostly because we had never done it, and had to figure out spawn order and kill order. Talk about a long slog for almost no rewards.
