Now THAT’S how you do a dungeon!

-> Perfect length

-> Well designed trash mobs: not too many, not too hard, not boring

-> Great boss fights: varied, challenging, well balanced, complex enough

-> Good enough difficulty for a Story mode dungeon. I could only imagine how great an explorable mode well designed like that would be like.

In short, I honestly hope you guys are getting a grip on how to design dungeons. I am honestly not saying the vanilla dungeons are bad (even though some of them have some inconsistencies). But I am saying this is so much better designed. Even if we have to compare to other MMOs (and, yes, WoW comes to mind), they have also took their time to release good dungeons, you guys are improving just so much faster. Anyway, I am already sad it will go away so soon. I hope you guys manage to create a technology on the game that will allow us to replay past events in a future patch. In the mean time, I hope you do the same for the Southsun Secrets. Please don’t wait so long to release a dungeon. Please let the dungeon live on the game for a little longer. And please continue designing dungeons (and instanced stories) like you did for Flame and Frost.

Thanks.

PS.: I have honestly not looked for other posts about this dungeon. So sorry if this is a repeat.

Well everyone’s inclined to their own opinion.. I on the other hand think differently than you. I personally feel that this is the worst dungeon to date. I found it really boring and stopped after my third time threw it.

I found it extremely to long, there wasn’t a lot of content they just made it non skippable. Which lead to standing around doing nothing for half the dungeon.

The flame ring that the protectors use is off like most Aoe circles Anet adds. The visual is smaller than the actual skill which leads to a very long run with pugs. Not to mention the invisible Aoe on the last boss that stays after the visual effect has vanished.

Also the stomp used by the berserker is off, you have to jump and pretty much land on it instead of jumping over it. Seems like they didn’t put much effort into any of this dungeon, its just something they rushed to please all the people who came to the forums crying about people skipping content.

The final boss fight is WAY to easy to be honest. This was my third run threw the dungeon, first attempt at a solo. Shouldn’t be that easy.

I will say that they got the hp right on the bosses though, they didn’t try to add difficulty by stacking hp like they usually do.

So in a nutshell I’m pretty sure this dungeon was just added to help quite the complainers. Its far to easy with the 10/15 npc’s you get helping you, most of the mechanics are not working properly, the final boss fight was far to easy and I lost interest after my second run, the third run was just to get a solo on vid before it was removed. (this coming from someone who has done the other dungeons hundreds of times and not gotten bored of them)

I understand that maybe they want a dungeon where people have to kill everything to progress but having them stand around waiting four or five minutes for a drill isn’t the way to do it. Having a bunch of npc’s tank all the damage from trash mobs isn’t the way to do it and having the only difficult part of a final boss be the fact that the new jump over an attack mechanic and the Aoe by the first storm are both broken isn’t the way to do it.

x per faction x, did it ever occur to you that most people are not ‘dungeon runners’. I don’t want to grind dungeons, so if its too easy for someone who spends their whole time running dungeons then its probably about right for people like me who just like playing casually.

I didn’t find it hugely difficult, but that meant I could pug it without getting frustrated.

What they need for people like you is a hard mode I think, let me run the easy one for fun and you can run something with a real challenge.

BOOM

i think:

1 – good difficult for a Story Mode
2 – 30 min is ok for a dungeon
3- yes we need a hard mode

If you repeat the dungeons hundred of times you are going to get bored. No matter what. I understand your opinion and I respect it. You’re one of those players who don’t enjoy the content anymore. You simply want to run dungeons as fast as possible in the most mechanical way in order to get what you want. No lore, no story, no progression. Let’s just finish this.

I think a dungeon meant for something called “Living Story” they got it right. And you must agree the bosses, even if they are not so difficult, they are much better designed than those Arah bosses (for instance) which you should just jump on a lamp or on a rock in the corner and nuke them down. In fact, most vanilla bosses have exploits like that.
