Ac path 3
Would be nice, but knowing ANet…
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Make all burrows appear at the same time!
Make all burrows appear at the same time!
Ya know that would break most people who only run that dungeon right? I second this plan. Anet make it so!

Good, or make them spawn in groups also.
I think they should spawn itty mini Lupiciae instead of gravelings.
Imagine, a half dozen little lupis shooting their boogers everywhere. Awwww…

They would make it longer and put more mechanics into it to make it more “interesting” which would end up being plain annoying at that point.
To OP: Don’t complain… It leads to bad places…
They should just speed it up slightly and randomize the order in which they spawn to make it more dynamic. That would be sufficiently exciting.

They never do simple fixes… Anet has a history with these things…
I think Dusk has the right idea. Shorten the duration and randomize the burrow spawn locations.
Nah ac p3 is a great time for a toilet break.

Not sure about shortening and randomizing at the same time. Even if most people play it with 80s, it’s a level 35 dungeon after all.
Only randomizing it could be enough (maybe randomizing the spawn times too so a couple of burrows can spawn closer in time while keeping the average spawn rate untouched).
If we want the dungeon to be balanced for 80s, then a lot more changes should be needed.
To clarify, when I said “shorten the duration”, that also meant fewer total burrows would spawn.
I vote for mini-lupicae. I just want to read the combat log, “Mini Lupicus critically hits you for 100 using mucus overload!”
But really, if they would change the spawn times so that the burrows spawned immediately after the previous burrow was killed or at the current timing if that burrow is still up, I think that would make the encounter more interesting. You might actually have to, you know, kill some gravelings :P

^ And this is why we can’t have nice things.
I agree that this part is boring. We sit back and look 2 ele solo it without difficulty. Or we gang these burrows in second.
But the problem is that at level 35, this part is super hard. Its easy now because we do so much more dmg, but back in the days it was view as almost impossible for level 35. It’s been a long time since I last did it with a group of 5 level 35. Someone know what it looks like now?
It would not be a problem with me, all my character are level 80, but it could be a huge obstacle for new player. Its the first dungeon after all.
I don’t know. I’ve done some super casual new-player runs with level 42 characters in greens and it’s still pretty much a breeze because:
- You know where they all spawn next
- There’s so much downtime between each burrow
I mean, even if you do get overwhelmed and can’t kill all the burrows, a lowbie Warrior or something can easily kite all of the Gravelings away from the ecto collectors.
GW2 has done the best job I have ever seen in applying the principles of dynamic level adjustments. However, the system is not perfect, and unfortunately this is an example of where it does not quite work. As Thaddeus mentions, this part is actually quite hard if you are doing it with an ‘at-level’ squad of new people but for a group of experienced 80’s, ya, it’s far too simple and needs some tweaking. Randomizing the spawn order, as some have suggested, would be a great start (and a viable one).

Did it with 3 upleveled, one non meta guy, and myself as a guard and it was just as boring. Kill time wasn’t really slower, never had 2 burrows at once.
I think ac p3 should be changed; the part where you have to defend the asura from the burrows spawn is just easy and boring.
What about make it shorter? 2 minutes instead of 5 would be good.
Don’t use ice bows then.

Don’t need them anymore. Post-ferocity nerf, any party comp can burn them down in a few seconds, tops.

Seeing as critical hits do nothing on burrows…
Both pre and post any class can do it solo without too much trouble.
Personally I aim to pick up as many icebows and immediately drop them as I possibly can. kitten timegates.
That was worded a bit confusingly, you’re right — it wasn’t the ferocity change itself, but the low level dungeons got nerfed hard in that patch to make them easier for lower level toons.
I think it was that patch anyway…hmmm…my memory is slipping :/ Can’t remember if ferocity + trait revamp were the same patch. shrugs
In any case, icebows weren’t ever really needed to trivialize that encounter at level 80.

You mean the update that adjusted how stats were scaled?
Yep, if I remember correctly. I seem to recall AC getting nerfed a couple of times in the last year or so. Now it’s just super ezpz to burn down the burrows

It’s a must!!! XDD

Yadda-yadda or, you know, Anet could’ve just made HM versions of the same old dungeons. Leave current ones to leveling and newbies, maybe even nerf them; AC can be extremely frustrating for a party of first-time scrubs learning their ropes.
In HM’s designers can and should go ham with all the crazy stuff. Be it mini-lupicæ or whatever. Hardcore players will munch that content with a great deal of joy. Anet also should not be afraid of making HM content too hard; we all know there’s always someone who makes it through, however absurdly over-the-top hard it is.
Too bad we can’t have nice things.
