Antherealle – Asura Engineer.
Trucy Millers – Human Warrior.
+0.1 token/karma multiplier for each group member that happens to be within 15 levels of recommended level.
+0.05 multiplier for each party member that happens to be within 30 levels.
Level 80s exempt from token multiplier under all circumstances.
A person’s multiplier contribution is reset to 0 if he/she switches character midway through the dungeon.
The first checkpoint is put somewhere after selecting a path to allow for last minute changes. If you enter the dungeon after this point, you can not switch characters without forfeiting your multiplier contribution.
So 5 players below level 50 running AC Explore will get 1.5x multiplier and will each recieve 90 tokens.
2 80s and 3 60s will get 1.15x multiplier, and every person will recieve 69 tokens.
2 80s, 2 60s and 1 45 will get a 1.2x multiplier, and each person will get 72 tokens.
>:D
Rewarding people for contributing less? No no no. It’s like the MF fiasco all over again.
What about CoF, HoTW, CoE and Arah?
Level 80 players would simply get more tokens, as they are within “15 levels” range.
I like well thought ideas.

If you read carefully you would see the the team would get the benefits, not just the lower-leveled players. As that is the case, is there a downside to this?

Yes. Completion dosh is unaffected by this “fix”.

Hmm. You don’t want to make the 80’s unaffected by the multiplier. Otherwise that would just perpetuate the problem and unbalance it otherwise. Instead have it so they are affected by the multiplier but, in turn, cannot affect it. Their presence does not change the multiplier but if there are lower-leveled players in the team they would still all get the benefit from it.

I’d like to think not. Lowbies will level up, 80s will get higher token count.
From watching a lot of MMOs grow over time, once you’ve introduced a mechanic, adding in penalties later for “not doing it the way the devs want it even if it abides by all rules” generates more player backlash than it does to improve the situation.
Ultimately it’s up to ANet to see what ideas fit and what doesn’t though.

Completion dosh? Umm … elaborate?

This is exactly how it should work, I may not have typed it clearly. 80s don’t add to the multiplier, but they do get the extra tokens for running with lowbies.

Probably means Gold currency you earn for completing the dungeon, which I overlooked. Would you guys rather have it in? I mean it’s a great idea for players overall.

The dosh you get for completing a path.

As the token rewards are already in the end rewards dialogue, might as well have the modifier affect everything from it. Gold, karma, and tokens.
Simplist way to make sub 80s more welcome in a team is to either penalize stats more for scale down from higher lvl or tone down the dungeons themselves.
I’m not sure if penalizing 80s even more would work, players will just complain and find other excuses not to take sub-80s.
run to last boss with 80. switch to lowbie alts. profit. seems legit.

Link me to the dev who said this was intended, thanks! =)

Some will but most people won’t.
You don’t seem to get that most of the current “excuses” are valid which they would not be if what I propose actually happened.
I’m just pointing out an easy and feasible way for devs to resolve a large portion of this issue since they’ve already adjusted the scaling system so it’s something they have experience with and can implement quickly and with relatively low risk.
Your idea is too arcane and might have alot of unintended consequences. (Such as exploits)

It doesn’t matter what’s intended or not. It only matters what is and what to do to fix/work around the issue.
He gave a perfectly valid way to work around the issue.
My sentiment with the biggest problem in dungeons is that as an 80 I don’t want to play with lower level players who will slow me down. I presume this isn’t the problem you are referring to, because it wouldn’t affect me at all. After this weekend, all 8 of my characters will be 80 and I have no intention of ever making another character and likewise I will have no intention of ever dungeoning with a sub 80.

My condolences, since you will not be able to benefit from the rewards multiplier. ^^
Or you could just enforce borders; only characters of a certain level are able to enter certain areas.

Nah, then certain areas would be ghost towns. A lot of areas already are, but imagine how much worse it’d be if you couldn’t enter areas not your level or dungeons not your level? You’d only be able to group with people in your range, no more or no less.
I still stand by my idea to expand dungeon content. The dungeons feel like they have more potential, and if more events proc’ed determined by the level range of your party members (events that gave modest-good rewards), people would be more inclined to bring those low levels for extra events.
Also, if bosses could be more difficult, having more attacks to swap between, and the likelyhood these bosses would have these extra attacks goes up by the number of lvl 80s in your group, that would enforce 80s to use more skill/utility to accomplish rather than the same static boss encounter regardless.
Basically, more dynamic and randomness for dungeons and scale it by level.
