Many players were saying that dungeons had become too easy, and as a result many dungeons became desolate while others were only run because of their exploitability and quickness to complete.
Anet responded with an exceptional answer to this playerbase, releasing a dungeon that grew harder as you progressed, as well as serving up an additional element to its difficulty in the form of agony.
Also, to keep avid dungeon runners coming back for more, they incorperated multipule “fractals” into this dungeon, which added an even greater level of immersion and flavour that helped keep the dungeon from growing old too quickly. Anet also said they plan to add even more fractals to this dungeon.
But they did not leave older dungeons to wallow away in stagnation and disuse. They added a new variety of dungeon-specific drops, and bags which contained wonderous goods which rewarded the player even further.
