I think i’m a little confused.

So…Let’s say i want to do higher fractals, i will need agony resist on my gear right?

Now let’s say after doing fractals for a while i want to go do a dungeon or a raid, obviously the agony resist on my gear is worthless for those so what do you guys do? do you salvage these things OR do people keep separate sets of gear for whatever they are doing? i really don’t know..

On ascended gear, there’s a slot similar to the runeslots on normal gear where you can put your agony infusions. They don’t take the runespot.

No you just play with Agony Resistance all the time. They are useless, but don’t hurt you either.

You could replace the AR infusion with +5 stats infusion, but that would only give you like 70 more stats points, which is not really high. Most people don’t bother and keep their AR infusion all the time.

You use the gear you have. There is no reason to salvage infusions unless you never plan to do another fractal, ever again.

In regards to the Versatile 5/5 infusions, you don’t gain much from them, especially when you consider that at best you 70 points total, divided among Offensive, Defensive, and Utility.

However, some people, like myself, found it easier to have one character just for Fractals, and another just for Dungeons. IE: I have a Warrior for Dungeons and a Guard for Fractals, and while I can use them both interchangeably, it was just easier to put all the right potions, and dungeon meta-gear and such on the Warrior for dungeons, not to mention, Dungeons are fully doable in Exotic, so, it was just easier to make an Exotic Zerk Meta Warrior, then it was to make a second set of Ascended for my Guard.

But everyone can play their own way.

In the end, Infusions are mainly a non-issue outside of Fractals, for all but the most painfully hair splitting min/max players anyway.

I have yet to find a place in the game where I “needed” to replace agony infusions with something else. The sole exceptions imo are:

  • Soloing dungeons — extra stats can be important.
  • Anchoring a training group — if the rest of the team isn’t getting the DPS or coordination necessary to succeed, the extra stats can help.
  • Very occasionally in WvW, as a crutch, extra stats can help.

Accordingly, I never swap out the agony infusions for offensive or defensive stats. There is simply no need (again: imo).
