Almost Racist
There is in some pugs but guild groups will usually have less heavies than other classes.
Just join a guild.
Edit- good guilds will (i can’t speak on behalf of every single guild)
Bad players on both sides is all I have to say.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
There is something specific thing here. Some classes are just better in PvE or PvP than other so they are prefered to be in the group. If it was me i would never take with me in a dungeon PUG who is with necro/engineer/ranger.Why?Because i know by default how will they play.
Now if we talk about friends i wouldn’t mind a lot because i know how the pre-made will support each other. But there are still some supreme classes which are better to have and PUGs know it.
Pugging daily, I stack warriors and guardians for smooth runs. They’re the least able to fail.
It’s just that those classes are seen as inferior for dungeon runs. It’s cetainly not gear supremacy since I have seen a “no guardian” LFG.
It’s just that those classes are seen as inferior for dungeon runs. It’s cetainly not gear supremacy since I have seen a “no guardian” LFG.
For PUG dungeon runs*
almost every class can do very well in a good group, but most pugs can’t play them effectively.
I don’t get why some pugs don’t like other classes. I often see LFG posts that would say “no necro, thief ,ranger blah blah blah”. Is there a heavy armor supremacist group in the game?
Because of staff necro, because of Bear bow ranger , thief is ok for stealth.
I play with anyone any class but i understand why some prefer for example zerk wars guard and mesmer, if you want to clear lots of content fast, you would be better with a nuclear bomb than a hand grenade.
Easiest thing to not screw up as long as you play decently is a heavy only zerk group. You outdps most boss mechanics to the point that you only have to avoid things once or twice, so less of a chance of screwing up. Then being heavy makes it so you aren’t as squishy.
People want what’s easiest and fastest, that’s something that’s a little of both, not quite the fastest but fast and easy.
And I wouldn’t call it it racist or professionist or whatever, I’d just call it applied statistics. I have yet to meet a ranger that can keep his pet from screwing things up. Now I don’t kick them because i want to see it, so gotta keep em to give them a chance, but ugh, I just expect the worst because that’s what my past experiences say.
I still like the Guard, War, Thief, Mes, Ele setup, you’re ready for anything =).
I usually welcome anyone in my dungeon/Fractal PUGs, but I admit that these days I won’t join a AC run without an Ele, or a CM run without a Thief or a Mesmer. >.>
because it is easier to be bad on warrior and guardian.
you’ve got to thanks wvw/ls for that
ppl farmed they toons to 80, got tons of achi..and got no idea what are they doing
at least bad guard or warrior wont be dead most of time, while bad thief will. bad ranger wont use any party support (spring, frost spirit, spotter) and just stay at longbow all the time
whenever i post lfg with my guard or warrior, it fills in seconds. when i do on thief, noone joins

QFT
Good groups will take a capable Ranger for Spotter and Frost Spirit for example.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
because it is easier to be bad on warrior and guardian.
This is the closest thing to truth I have seen. A good necro/thief/engi etc bring just as much in terms of DPS as a guardian or warrior. And often times a good necro can outlast both classes and still do tons of damage.
Most people think necro or engi=Condi damage and they subsequently think Condi in dungeons is bad (true) so they therefore think necro or engi=bad because there is no such thing as a power necro or engi which is so far from true.
Whatever…its a problem anet should deal with.
LFG filled with profession requests is BAD.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
Whatever…its a problem anet should deal with.

how is it bad? how is it bad that a group asks for a warrior (for their banners), or an ele (for FGS and icebow), or some other class with the intent of getting the benefits that they provide?
perhaps it’s futile hope since these are pugs, but how is it negative? if I see an LFG asking for something that I can run with, I join it. otherwise I join another LFG. it’s not hard.
Solution: 7 80s. (Sorry, necromancer. .. you belong in pvp hehehe)
You will always have the class for the job!
Or make your own group.
Ps. I personally don’t like Sylvari in my groups (so ya know.. Real Tyrian racism). They take all the credit for my heroic feats.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.

Lol… Just no… Necros are better in Pve than any people give credit. And often much more skilled than those “awesome” warriors, or eles that wind up telling you they are healing spec… haha

Calm yourself.

Lol… Just no… No serious speedrunning guild brings necros except when on casual runs, because necros are terrible. The only time they were ever used in serious ones was back when people did FOTM 70+ IIRC, because 1 condi class was nice for dredge.

Be that as it may, I bring my Necromancer in pubs because it’s fun, and since it’s a pub I contribute more to the team than most of the random Warriors or Guardians or Elementalists I run across. I do agree that they have no place in actual speed clears, but in the pub-labeled “speed clears” they’re totally fine. Every pub run is casual, regardless of what the players themselves think.

I have to say I completely agree with the bolded.

That’s true, but if you brought one of the better classes you’d obviously be more useful.
I’m not saying that you shouldn’t bring a necro at all in a casual pug (hell I’m gonna bring my engi in full ruby orbs and nobody’s going to stop me), but that other classes contribute more in almost every case, which would be the biggest reason for not bringing a necro if you wanted to optimise.

Ok, I’m not as cool as you guys with premade. But what’s wrong with wanting to do 12 minutes cof pug run instead of 20 minutes?
I try not to discriminate the class. So I just put melee only. Out of all the runs I did this week, 5 of the ranger use bow and 1 use axe and none of them are meleeing(Even if I specfically says melee only!)

How is it bad you are out of a huge part of the game because you choosen a different profession or because you don t like the meta build?
And its not only PvE….you should hear what my guild says when i go ele DD in WWW <.<
PvP ruined the game…now its time to fix it.

This drives me up a wall. Ranger melee is the most enjoyable way to play ranger, yet I’m the only one I see doing it in my fractal runs. Everyone just loves their bow too much to bring a GS/ Sword and an actually useful pet.
I’ll never understand the infatuation with bears, either. Why bring a bear when you can bring a vuln stacking cat or a lizard tank with burst f2? Are bears REALLY that interesting to most people?

Most people roll a ranger simply because they think they can just camp way out back with their longbow and having the pets (usually the bears) tank for them.
Also the only place where I can think of a bear being useful is tanking Old Tom’s poison volley.

One of the classes I play in fractals is Necro. And if you know how to play the class, you get some amazing numbers out. Obviously we don’t go speedclearing, since we do fractals mostly for fun. Regardless you won’t see my necro go down before any other class.
Saying they’re terrible means you never even touched the class, other than maybe craft leveling it… Shame…
That being said:

They “think” they know it. By doing this they perpetuate the myth that they “bring nothing” to a group. Does nothing for your friends that do play those Professions well.
If you would accept your friends in any Profession in pre-made groups, nothing gives you the right to think other random players must by necessity be “inferior” because they “didn’t qualify” to be your friends/guildies. You just don’t know them. In that way it is like racism, because people tend to be paranoid about the things they don’t know, and be biased against it.
(Also, many of those players that only want “heavies” are pseudo-speed runners anyway, or people coming from other games, having a cursory knowledge of the meta, and making their own “meta” in their heads about what “works best” in Dungeons. CoF1 farming is gone. I think you are giving too much credit to the exclusivist pugs, and far too little to the pugs who play the other Professions.)
However, to be fair the title of the thread and thread itself is unnecessary, no offense to the OP. I am 100% that not all players that do this would be racist in real-life, so it can be offensive to many. This bias is wrong both ways.
You should never care for “being excluded” because you don’t want to hang out with that type of player anyway, regardless your skill or experience. Make your own group and have fun-you don’t have to let what others consider “fun” get in the way of your own enjoyment of the game.

There’s a distinction here I think is important and I disagree with your thoughts on guild/friends versus pugs. A guildie or friend will be vocal, might be in voip, knows how you play and can adapt to the situation regardless of their class. A pug just doesn’t have that. I’m fine with taking a friend necro and I tolerate guild necros (because I like my guild and don’t want them to think I’m not a team/guild player). There are differences that really shouldn’t be ignored… and saying that a person has no right to exclude specific classed pugs if they would accept a guildie or friend of the same class is just not accurate.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?

It’s terrible, man. No one should ever have the right to choose what they want their groups to be like. We all should just type “P1”, hope for the best and never kick anyone, regardless of profession, level, gear or performance, because that way they wouldn’t be playing how they want.
Yup, that’s clearly the way LFG was intended to function.
Is there a heavy armor supremacist group in the game?
WarDians has a nice ring to it.
