you will yell at people for having garbage DPS .
Don’t worry that’s nothing , there’s some
level 10 elitists that will yell at people for not
using food
The guard refused to swap to melee , constantly died and ended up causing the party to wipe. So I left the party (was instance owner), called the guardian a kitten for not meleeing a simple fight and he messaged me this.
Hum… if he couldn’t stay alive ranged, it was best to leave him dead. Not meleeing doesn’t seem to be the problem, but dying constatly is
Saying bad things to him was wrong imo, you should avoid any kind of contact with that kind of player
No, you’re not a scumbad because of that
Crusher is a kitten nice fight. Meleeing is easier than ranging.
Sounds like you both acted like mature, friendly adults. Yep. That’s what that looks like.
I’m not sure what you’re expecting us to say. Yes? No? Sounds like you both could have done better.
If you’ve already left a party after someone was giving you trouble, just don’t say anything. Chances are, you’re not going to get anything out of petty sniping after the fact, and they’re not going to get anything out of it.
I just leave without saying anything when that happens.. Dealing with people is a waste of time.

Need a bit of background here. Joined a p3 Arah “experienced” only group. Got to the crusher, only myself and another warrior were meleeing him while the rest were camping ranged. The guardian that had aggro kept kiting him around the place, playing it “safe” while the mesmer and other warrior swapped to melee around the end of the fight after me constantly telling them to swap to melee. Am I doing this right?
yes u are :p , next time dont start the dungeon if u are a “rage quiter” , i for example if i am dungeon starter i wouldnt leave no mather how group sux or how many times we died (this is not always the smart thing, but i hate to start the dungeon all over again…)
You can see from the thread everyone has different opinion over doing anything. Generally, don’t tell people what to do, if they don’t ask, is the way to go. Melee or range crusher, who cares, as long as it’s done. Unlike certain bosses, I don’t think one player down in crusher fight will cause the team to wipe. What causes the team to wipe usually is from some players arguing with each other, making the run unpleasant and eventually fail dungeon most of the time.

I play melee 100% of the time, but I force anyone else to melee. Every fight in arah can be done as melee or ranged. Everyone has their preference and has to deal with the risks of each. If someone who prefers to range, died while ranged, they would have probably played worse as melee cause it’s not their preference. Let people play the way they want.
I honestly hate when someone who doesn’t melee ever, follow me into melee range just because they see me doing it, and die repeatedly cause of it. And I hate when someone tells me to range cause they don’t think melee is possible, cause they can’t do it. Just let people play the way they want and deal with the risks of their decision. Then again, I’m also someone who doesn’t get mad if someone dies or if the group wipes, and I don’t see it as any more of a waste of time, than actually playing the game is.

You joined a group yet you’re the instance owner? :o
Anyways, I’ll assume you “created” the group, not “joined” – you could’ve given them some chance. You’re the owner – you’re holding their time.
It’s a PUG – all of them may be experienced, but we all have different experiences/tactics. Take time to know the group and come up with a good tactic that everyone agrees to.
If you’re really really kitten ed (eg: they’re dying tons of times already and nothing seem to work…) – just politely say something like “guys, it’s not working – we may need to find someone else to run this”.
If they badmouth you after that, block them.
I always start instances and at a certain point you just know its longer smart to continue on with a certain party and you should just leave. When I do that I don’t say anything to anyone. Some parties will just keep on failing and become a major waste of time

I’d say it’s gonna take you one more person angry when you tell him AH dps guardian is not being actual dps flagging you or one ‘LOSing is exploiting Q_Q!’ thread.
Your pick, personally if I knew I was gonna get my sig confiscated I would have done it in more style. Maybe some graphically offensive GIF’s or something raunchy.

If you’re prone to rage quitting, don’t start instances.
Especially if you quit after the first wipe, as an instance owner you should own up to keeping the group together, at least to some extent. If they don’t listen after the second-third wipe I find it justifiable and even then you don’t need to call them names, just say something like “sorry, I don’t have time for this” or even less personal “sorry, I gtg” and quickly leave without arguing further.
You don’t need PUG if you are good all by yourself. And if one pugs so he can complete the instant and laughs at their shortcoming then that person is sick. Narcissistically sick.

I never considered ending it all with a bang! In your honor I will do something raunchy and maybe add some GIFs when the time comes to destroy a casual or someone in 14/14/14/14/14 spec

So, you left the group fully knowing it will kick everyone out. Then, you whispered the Guardian who kept dying and called him a kitten?
Yeah, you’re a scumbag.
You punished the whole team for that one guardian, yes you are.
So many hurt butts.
Nah you did the right thing, gotta love morons who say “experienced only” then end up being terrible themselves, hypocrites.
Well, this is ambivalent. On one hand, you had no indication that anyone in the group was non “experienced” except for that guard. You asked the guys to go melee, 4 of you did (ok, after a while, but still… they did). On the other hand, it was “experienced”, and not “speedrun”.
Yeah I would have just kicked the guardian and replaced him. You had a mesmer, which will provide all the reflects you need for path 3.

+1 i agree with you!

Sometimes one person in range can wipe the party. AC spider queen, CoE Alpha, Etc.
But I get what you are saying.

lol look at this elitist assuming pug mesmers use reflects

That’s one thing that I don’t get. Anet talked about how ranged combat is supposed to be the ‘safe’ alternative, and yet they design these bosses that so strongly discourage it. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
Why would anybody kite the crusher… that only HELPS it hit you. If you circle it none of the hits connect because of how long their cast time is just like that shotgun guy in CM.
Leaving instead of kicking the guard was kind of unnecessary. Whispering him afterwards was just mean for the sake of it. So yeah I’d say your being a scumbag. Kicking someone who isn’t keeping up is fine, but gratuitous insults aren’t particularly constructive. Some people call me a care bear for that attitude, though.
Just when you form party let everyone know that you are leader of party, you decide what tactic and that you will kick everyone who will disobey you.
You have right to ask for anything when you form party, it is up to players if they will accept your conditions and if they will they should stick to it. And if they dont they can form their own party with they own conditions like ,,Range every boss, dont want to melee anything or have zerker in group" and so on….
I understand your problem, some people just hate melee combat, zerker groups, fast runs or just think they are the best so much that they destroy others enjoyment from the game by they behaving and play style.
But seriously did you had to leave? You could just kick the bad one take someone else and continue.
I hope this gets some attention.. this is basically how elitist create partys for “difficult” dungeons and then leave when they dont get their way. causing the whole party to get kicked out of the dungeon..
This is pretty much how every group of pugs that ask for experienced or gearcheck.
Those kinda ppl disgust me. Only reason I would ever ask for something like that is in fractals when they have far below the required amount of AR. In arah I dont mind if they are unexperienced, most of those unexperienced groups are actually better than experienced
Yeah I would have just kicked the guardian and replaced him. You had a mesmer, which will provide all the reflects you need for path 3.

Good point. If I had to pug arah I would do it on my mesmer so I knew at least the group would have reflects covered. That gives the pug at least a fighting chance of success.
Then again, assuming someone has multiple classes geared properly is probably being elitist too.
If I had to PuG Arah I would simply have to go Thief to trivialise trash skips, granted I take a Thief on casual p1 and p3 guild runs anyway. I would also leg it from Lupi’s Phase 2 AoE’s unless the Mesmer proved to be exceptional thus far.
But really, at least once a week there’s a “oh my god this happened in an Arah PuG” thread so I doubt I’ll ever man up enough to risk it.

Mesmer may not be as good as thief, but it can pull its own for aiding in trash skips (also doesn’t carry the risk of pugs running out of your SR)
p1:
- first skip is mostly on them, but veil + mass invis towards the end to leash anything chasing.
- second skip, continue running to where you fight the abomination on p2 place a portal take the waypoint run into range and get the team across.
- post lupi mesmer can get through the risen without drawing aggro (veil the first turn, decoy, mass invis, prestige, blink the second) from after that there’s a safe spot before the drakes to set a portal to bring your team through. Focus pull the drakes/gorillas forward to keep the party ooc for quicker running and the spiders normally prove no problems.
p2
- getting to belka is pretty much on them, but stealth just before the deadeye helps.
- stealths and blinks to get to the waypoint after, if the group has problems after that, portal to the abomination
- really hilarious when you get to rotten armada waypoint first on mesmer
- at brie if go up the ramp and get into the far back corner, you can portal from just north of reza’s waypoint
p3
- more portal magic from the hill above the mage crusher from the starting area
p4
- focus pull the spectral weapons/risen on the run to the melandru, alternatively stealth
- can portal from starting zone to hill for lyssa
- interrupt the spectral weapons again with focus, or stealth. stealth through the last room after the water.
I mostly take normal skills the first time running, but I’ll find the 72/90 second CD is worth it over watching another player fail the run 2/3x times after the first attempt.
Lol many neat tricks there. On a sidenote if you are PuG’ing, some do not like taking portals. Even if you willing to do it, other might not be willing to use it.
I just did an Arah p2 which involves portaling to Abomination once and portaling to Brie twice. I had to portal twice to Brie as the last guy refuse to use my portal until s/he was close to rq’ing.
That is some next level PuG carrying right there xD
I don’t have an 80 Mesmer yet but from what I’ve seen with other players is trash skipping being an absolute nightmare, especially dealing with back aggro from more mobile classes (e.g everything but Mesmer.)

yeah trash skipping with a mesmer is so annoying and not fun at all. it’s like rp walking all the time.

And then you realize that you can use a warriors banner to run with, and your life is changed forever.
I never thought about that, holy kitten. Too bad the rush isn’t as good as the GS rush

Because that makes a whole lot of difference. O.o It actually may be worse.
I think no, you are not. I had the exact same situation a few days ago, I only know it wasn’t the same party because I was the instance owner and the one who left lol.
People seriously need to stop lying in the LFG descriptions. And if they wanna pretend they are experienced, they should at least go watch a guide, it’s not that hard.
Elitism in GW2 dungeons is so silly. I can understand it more in competetive PvP because you’re being outskilled by an actual person, but getting an angsty ego in PvE is just bizarre.
Anyway. From these actions, I don’t think you’re a scumbag. You quite possibly are one, but not from these actions alone. Depends what it was you whispered him I guess. “Kitten” could be anything from cringe-worthy gaming slang to racial abuse.
I also think it’s lame of you to post his name here, as if you’re somehow naming and shaming him, when you look just as bad, if not worse.
