I understand that people are upset over the lowered/eliminated rewards from dungeons, but I have seen very few people who have said they enjoy dungeons for things other than the gold they got. Are there really that few people who actually had fun in dungeons and did them for entertainment rather than gold?

I ran dungeons for enjoyment about 2 1/2 years ago. Of course after you’ve run the same content over and over and over for that long the fun starts to wear off.

Bristleback can’t hit anything? Let’s fix the HP bug instead.

Why do the content?

  • Content can be fun.
  • Content can be rewarding.
  • Content can be fun and rewarding.
  • Content can be fun if rewarding.
  • Content can be rewarding if fun.

Pre-patch : 5/5
Post-patch : 2/5

People will still do the content but it accommodates less people post-patch.

I really enjoyed some of the paths. Especially the ones that weren’t run en masse like CoF1 was. AC P2 in beta for the first time might be my favorite in-game memory.

I think a better way to nerf dungeon rewards would have been to UP the gold reward, but like x10 every enemy’s health or something. So you could still do that odd run and feel like you got something out of it, but no one would farm it.

Edit: Actually I take that back, they could make the bonus chest once per week, or even once per 2 weeks. Then people could still enjoy the content they love from time to time, and anet would also get their wish of killing it off.

A lot of people had fun but very few wanna do stuff for fun without any rewards.
A full tour is still more rewarding than doing fractal dailies and is more fun but hey, that’s just me…

Nope OP you’re not the only one.

It’s just that after getting kittened so many times in a row, you get to the point where you realise “maybe I should just not bother anymore.”

Games tend to be more fun when you feel rewarded for the time you invest into it. That’s really all there is to it.

I liked them at release and slowly became less and less interested… now with the lack of gold I’ve lost w/e motivation I had left to bother all.

Doing dungeons with friends/good players was where the fun was at for me. Now, friends & guildies no longer want to run them because there’s other content to do and the rewards are kitten, so there’s not really any reason for me to run them anymore either.

Dungeons are still there. They still give loot and tokens: but ya most people doing them I’d imagine are people new to gw2 and lvling to 80’s. You can still do them for fun if you want. Anet has said they really don’t want people considering dungeons part of core endgame now.

I just wish Fractal rewards weren’t so terrible. They wanted fractals to be the new 5 man engame but apparently nerfed the rewards. Kinda weird thinking. Guess we’ll see how it plays out in the next month or so
