Amber Dipoles and Golem Pet Parts
I agree. That droprate is just pure bullsh:t. I would love to know who has invented and is responsible for this.
Do they drop at all? Been doing fractals almost every day and never saw anyone dropping one.
Farming the mobs at the beginning of a lvl 6 or a lvl 19 might actually be worth it to try to get these. You can farm Vials at the same time while trying to get the Amber Dipoles.
The other issue with this collection is that you actually need an extra of each to actually add it to your Wardrobe as throwing them into the Mystic Forge does not unlock it in your Wardrobe like when you forge weapon or armor skins you don’t have. Adding it to your Wardrobe consumes the Mini which you then no longer have to throw in the Forge.

One would think that the groups farming for mist essence/ shards etc would turn up a lot of these, but their drop rate seems far beyond even those. It would be very interesting to get some details on them.
Currently, the trade post lists 85 as available for sale. I think we are looking at the new “giant eye”.
I’ve gotten one ever (the 14g version), from the final chest of some random fractal a long time ago. I’ve never gotten the higher level one.
Beyond that, nothing, and I do at least 6 fractals a day:/
The droprates are fine, otherwise it would be too cheap to complete this collection.

LOL – best troll post since days.
For the record, I agree with the OP that these collection items are pretty painful to acquire… especially considering how many dipoles you need to finish the collection.

Interesting. I had no idea they dropped from the end boxes, and always assumed they were a mob drop.
Yea, not sure if they also drop from mobs, but I’m pretty certain mine came from a chest.

How is it a troll post? You can buy these on the trading post for cheap. 14g each is not terribly much and adds valuable drops to fractals to have these.
Its over 225 gold for the achievement at current prices. It was more than that. I think the problem is the high cost item is the low tier item. It wouldnt be so bad if the higher tier collection items were expensive and the lower tier ones were more common and cheaper.
Saying it adds valuable drops to fractals is a pretty silly. Yeah sure it does add a valuable drop to the easiest fractals. But why should the easiest fractals be the most rewarding. And when its this uncommon it can hardly be counted as an influence on average fractal drop value. And in reality the reason its so expensive is because they rarely drop. Ive never seen any of the collection items drop myself.
All that said. I dont really see a problem with an achievement being a big gold sink like this. My only gripe is that the main value item is awarded on the easiest fractals (albeit very rarely).

So 150g for a collection which rewards a miniature is much? If you want the miniature farm the stuff or pay the price. Stop feeling entitled to get everything cheap. If it is not worth it to you skip the collection.
It is already bad enough that they devalued the “Professor” collection by reworking the fractal encryptions.
Sorry its actually over 225g. Prices are about 16-17g and you actually need more than 9 total due to collection consuming. You need 13 in total.
Also did you totally ignore my last paragraph. I said i dont mind achievements being big gold sinks. I just dont agree with where the value and cost sits.

It makes sense to add them to low level fractals.
1) Gives a reason to play low level fractals at all
2) Rewards new / casual players who need the gold the most. Transfers down gold from the rich to the poor players.

Both points are stupid, you know that.
First, the drop rate is that low it doesn’t make sense trying to farm low level fractals for the item and second, casual gamers don’t win here. Also, I have never seen an lfg for “amber dipole farming”.

This statement is a joke and a slap in the face of every usual GW2 player. So many things since HoT are behind grinding collections and most of the fun and spirit of the old game has gone.
To be clear, GW2 was made against grinding, now it has turned to be a grind fest.
Players with no life, 30 k AP and 101 titles shouldn’t be the main target by Anet, that’s all.

I dont find it stupid at all. Of course you do not see “amber dipole farming” runs. If that would be possible the price of these would be less than 1 gold.
It’s a stupid mini. The price should be less than a gold.
How about buff this drop and then someone will sell it to Maledictus for 200g+, so he can continue feel himself special. Win-win.
