Oh Aquatic Ruins I know lots of you feel the same way as me, every time you see it as a daily you start wondering why is this here….. It is boring and quit frustrating at high level fractals, my skills seem to go everywhere since I don’t have the feeling that they ‘re actually hitting something. Now this is just the tip of the iceberg because I haven’t mentioned: Terrible underwater weapons (specially on engineer and yes I know you can use kits), losing your rune 6th bonus since I know tons of players rarely have a decent water breather, extremely limited use of utility skills, etc. There is definitely potential for underwater combat but in its current state I don’t see it going anywhere, only thing you can do is pray to not get caught by those dang kraits when you turn into and adorable dolphin. Anet is there any way you can remove this particular fractal until is reworked like you do with a number of content that seems to not be working and makes player have a bad time? Is there any way to replace this particular fractal for the new one you promised us months ago?

None of the things listed here are bugs, so this would be more appropriately placed in the Fractals/Dungeons/Raids subforum.

I’d just like the dolphin path to not be a suicide run where the goal is to just res the dead as you swim rather than avoiding the krait and working your way stealthily through to the boss.

The 2 skill needs to stealth you with the decoys and the 3 skill needs evade frames. Additionally the fact that you have to double dodge to avoid the krait is BS. You can dodge and get the evade frame, but if you don’t dodge again you still get sunk. A single dodge should do it.

Other than that, Aquatic is fine.

I am running condition Reaper. I should say I can soloing all the first part of any level of that Aquatic Ruins fractal. And can reach the last group of kraits before die.

That said I have zero problems with pugs doing that fractal at any level. And never hear any complaints doing the first part. Sometimes takes us 2-3 runs before reach the boss room, someone ask for doing that sync and depart at the same time or something like that. Last part is just resing people (on a not too amazing pug) cleanse conditions, sending back those, cc and done. Sometimes it is slow, sometimes it is a bit slower, but all good and then rewards.

Yes, it is my own experience, but looks like a l2p issue. Fractal is good as it is and nothing no fix about itself.

There’s only one anoying thing about this fractal to me- and it’s the same with every other underwater fight in this game- inconsistent hitboxes. Having to guess where the Jelly really is since you can’t rely on what’s displayed on the screen is incredibly anoying.
But that’s a common issue with underwater combat in general and nothing exclusive to this factal.

It’s boring at Tier4 because the jellyfish boss is such a huge hitpoint sponge, it’s just 5 minutes (feels like) hammering away until it’s dead.

I can’t agree with the OP’s premise or with their request. I like aquatic; it makes a nice change (mind you: I don’t want to see any other underwater fractals). Of all the existing options, this one needs the least attention, in my opinion.

Oh Aquatic Ruins I know lots of you feel the same way as me, every time you see it as a daily you start wondering why is this here…..

No, my group likes having this in the rotation, as it’s one of our easier ones. We used to be afeared of it, then we changed tactics and now it’s one of the quickest ones.

It is boring and quit frustrating at high level fractals, my skills seem to go everywhere since I don’t have the feeling that they ’re actually hitting something.

It’s a lot more interesting than underground in my opinion.

Now this is just the tip of the iceberg because I haven’t mentioned: Terrible underwater weapons (specially on engineer and yes I know you can use kits), losing your rune 6th bonus since I know tons of players rarely have a decent water breather, extremely limited use of utility skills, etc. There is definitely potential for underwater combat but in its current state I don’t see it going anywhere,

There’s no question that underwater combat is in a “pre launch” state and needs to be adjusted. However, that shouldn’t be an issue for an engineer.

only thing you can do is pray to not get caught by those dang kraits when you turn into and adorable dolphin.

If your team does a congo line and is just a bit better than terrible at finding a safe route, then someone’s 5 is always available to rez. I won’t say it’s easy for a lot of people (I know most of my team still struggles), but it’s not that bad.

I hope that they don’t remove any of the fractals — even if they added five more, I feel that there’s too few right now.

This is actually one of the easiest fractals to learn. It’s not particularly enjoyable for sure, because underwater combat is rubbish, but it can be learned in two or three successful runs.

Like Illconceived says, just use the buddy system, look out for downed members and use skills appropriately and it is smooth sailing right up to the boss (and that fight is a cakewalk).

There isn’t enough fractal content to warrant removing one, no matter how dreadful you find it.

I don’t have problems with UW-combat and engineer is very strong UW. But I dislike the dolphin part in this fractal. It’s a hit or miss. You just dodge and if you are lucky you evade. But you have no idea when you have to dodge. The ’skill’s don’t really help you. Terrible mechanic.
