Okay… So I have completed him before but, this time I noticed he could literally spam his shadow walk – KD – kitten attack. We wiped a bunch on him this time around and just quit. Other cases of this are the spider queen in AC who is now able to spam her poison attack and mage guys able to spam the fire line thing in CoF as if these things have absolutely no recherge. I dearly hope that these are bugs and not intended. If it’s intended then you might as well call the game Dodge Wars 2.

P.S. I’m not even kidding, it’s literally one after another after another.

I had lupi vomit bubble traps hit me three times in a row yesterday(still downed him on first attempt). But i guess it’s just bad luck. Was he switching aggro multiple times? Or chasing someone possibly running a little too far from his range?

If it only spams shadow walk it should be really easy. It should take quite many of those before you run out of your defenses. Unless there’s like 0,5 secs delay. :P

There are some bugs that can happen with Lupi, but generally speaking it’s a well designed, balanced & fun fight.

I’ve not seen any bugs with lupi while playing with him, He does tend to pick some random person to harass though (Why did you target me 5 times in a row Lupi?! Why ;_;) but yes, from what I can tell it’s pretty random though I think there are factors involved that give certain people a higher chance to be targeted but again I get the impression it’s a % chance to each person given depending on their stats.

From my observation warriors seem to get targeted more with toughness/vitality than the more squishy professions in our groups but I’ve been targeted quite a few times myself al though in general less often and I have 20 points in vitality. So I’ve come to the conclusion that specific stats probably give a person a higher % chance to be targeted over another person, that different things give people different percentages.

I could be completely wrong of course but that’s the impression I’m getting from the Lupi fight. The single target though seems random entirely, He also targets my clones so I keep them up to make the chance one of the group gets hit a lot lower.

I usually never rant, but yeah, this boss is ridiculous.
I always get a bad party who simply can’t live longer than 1 min of it’s stage 2
Only guardians and tanky builds can last longer than 3 hits without healing.
Inb4 learn to dodge, it simply spams skills so much that even vigor won’t get you endurance fast enough

Learn to dodge. This includes not dodging attacks which don’t have to be dodged. Single shots, keep strafing and simply change direction. This leaves only dash (dodge) and multi-shot attack (try dodge only once).
With some defensive skills you should be able to survive full focus.

For Lupi Phase1, its usually best to have 1 or 2 people focus on only Grubs and Locusts. Make sure Lupi gets 0 grub buffs.

For Lupi Phase2, he will usually fixate on whoever did the most damage in P1 or one of the 3 people who were on him in P1. If possible, make sure that person is good at kiting, dodging, and has plenty of extra evade type moves. You generally don’t need to dodge the red circles on the ground, just move out of it. You do need to dodge his shadow step. Sometimes, his single target range attack can down someone if they are unlucky and already low on health.

For Phase3, just keep your distance and kite him, throw out snares and roots. He will usually life drain the same person the rest of the fight, stability/blink can get you out of bubbles if you are trapped.

Also, if you run to the opposite side of the room from lupi and kiss the wall, you will get out of combat and heal up. This is risky, because if no one is in range of lupi and he has no conditions on him, he will reset.

It’s also easy to reset Lupi if you cleared enough space in the prior room.
If you get any grubs, its safer to just reset and try again.

On phase 1 spend 2 minutes learning infection animation and then just dodge it. Then some melees on Lupicus when it roars to kill Locusts before they can even move. Phase 1 should take about 2 minutes (+ 2 for learning).

Or just be bad and stack all players on one position, don’t dodge and pew pew.

I run guardian against lupi. Guardians definitely seem to be one of the easier classes to deal with him. I personally run “retreat” and “stand your ground” along with renewed focus (I think that’s the elite name). This give you 2 aegis to use instantly, and invuln and then another aegis. These help when you’re out of endurance. It’s important to use dodges first then aegis when low on endurance. Stand your ground helps on phase 1 and phase 3. I you’re too slow on phase 3 hit stand your ground and aegis to gtfo of the dome of death.

*Edit: Important note, all those aegis abilities are given to party in earshot as well. This adds to the survivability of the whole group and one of those aegis could save someone from a bad dodge and instakill.

Wow okay. So I guess the people on the forums are illiterate. I state that he was spamming his shadow walk attack which he had never done before and, for some reason, a bunch of people reply with guides on how to do Lupicus? Err… Okay?

Anyway. After this most recent patch the problems in these dungeons with bosses spamming attacks seem to have been fixed so I request that this thread be deleted.

P.S. I question the usefulness of the GW2 forums given the responses found here. Perhaps get rid of the forums to save server space or something?

You posted complaining about dying a lot on Lupicus in the dungeon forums (not the game bugs forums) if you thought it was a bug then post in the game bugs forum.

From what I can read though the shadow step is behaving normally, he always targets one person till they’re dead. So the reason why people are giving you advice is because you’re having trouble with the fight (dying) thus doing something wrong (most likely) and you just need to practice rather than instantly assuming it’s a bug because you can’t do it.

If you still think its a bug as I said you can report it via the in game bug report system or in the game bugs section and describe each occasion of this happening in more detail as you aren’t really explaining exactly what happened, in what circumstances. The dev’s would need to know this in order to fix it.

The boss is not bugged. It’s a simple l2p issue. That instant chained attack he does on a “random” party target can be dodged. You just need to time it. /thread

Lupicus can’t be done by simply following some instructions. He/it takes a LOT of practice AND luck.

The reward is the prestige of prancing around in very hard to acquire gear.

Working as intended.

Nobody at Anet loves WvW like Grouch loved PvP. That’s what we need, a WvW Grouch, but taller.

We also noticed after this patch he seems to have been hit with the nerf hammer a bit. He ate a grub, which we usually run away and reset him to try again, but this time he had already started fighting and didn’t immediately down anybody. Before if he ate a grub and you got hit, it was instant down state. Now, it’s not so bad. Maybe half your hp.

GL fight really just requires people to have a good enough frame rate to see when to dodge, and be able to avoid the red circles. Phase 3 is really easy if the person he is chasing just keeps out of range and runs away the whole time. Hardest part is surviving phase 2. Took us a while to figure it out when we started running arah a few weeks ago, but now, my team is outfitted with the armor and getting weapons. Just keep at it, once you learn him, he’s easy.

I wasn’t complaining about dying. I was stating that he was spamming his shadow walk attack.

To make it clear; He was ONLY using his shadow walk attack. With me so far? He was using nothing but his shadow walk attack. NO, he didn’t use the AOE circle thing. Just… The shadow walk attack. It seemed to have a 1-2 second recharge as he used again in that time frame. Still comprehend what I’m saying? He spammed his shadow walk attack and nothing but that every 1-2 seconds.

The purpose of this thread was to see if anyone else had the same problem or if anyone knew of any changes to Lupicus to make him do that or if it was a bug. I have beaten Lupicus numerous times before and he never did that.

Again, I’m not having this type of problem in dungeons any longer.
