So all the devs did was changed som values/numbers for this boss and made it quite more challenging as a result, instead of the (half-)AFK fest it used to be. I like it!
I also am looking forward how pugs will deal with this from now on. Full ranging i guess or stacking reflects like there’s no tommorrow?
Also this just in: The P2 waypoint after the Spider run past belka also doesn’t activate until way later. That makes two pugbusters in one!

hmm what were these changes exactly, I used to run path 1+2 daily before the fracture patch, but now I’m running fractals 40+ more often, so did it change in this last update or in the fractured update?
So nothings changed except the damage of the boss?
Big ol bomb instantly explodes for 30k+ damage if 1 or more people get pulled from it, downing everyone in melee that gets hit by it and i think it explodes another time afterwards.
You also don’t seem to be able to avoid the Daggerstorm by just melee-“pushing” alphard anymore. It looks like they made a band-aidfix by just outright removing the casttime on the daggerstorm(the “taunt”). She just instantly starts spinning.

Why are they fixing alphard when they could be spending that time fixing lupi skip lol.
I don’t seem to understand why they did this. I like the new change but I don’t see why that was a priority over all of the things in Arah that needed fixes like the jumping puzzle/underwater exploit/lupi skips etc. I also think it was unintentional since the damage from the big ol’bomb hits you before the animation goes off (the animation goes off after a second or two). Also what was the point of removing the WP after Belka? It just promotes more people to use the exploit. If they wanted to make the content more difficult they could have first fixed all the exploits.
Overall it’s still doable. I just finished it (ranged it of course) and dodged when she tried to use scorpion wire and hid behind barrels when she used daggerstorm since you can’t interrupt it anymore. It’s also doable if you keep 100% uptime on wardens and make them eat the barrels/big ol’bombs.

You need to use the golem suit and charge it or whatever or you could just use a thief and hope none of your party members die on the run to the Abomination.

Alphard fight is pretty ridiculous. The scorpion wire move, if not dodged, will pull you and instantly deal 15-30k damage on the spot, before the AoE circle ever appears. And when the AoE circle do appear, it deal another 15-30k damage. I took about 40k dmg and was instantly dead within 2 seconds from that move.

I don’t understand why they keep messing with the Arah waypoints :S
Why haven’t we gotten the P1 Tar WP back? if u wipe lupi it takes several minutes to run back there in which I see no point. Also what I don’t understand is the WP placement after killing the entities: why does the WP spawn before the Ooze?
P2 WP removed after Belka? This falls into the same category. Good parties can still just run through ignoring the golem suit and bad parties get punished. Also this adds more redundant running that doesn’t seem to serve any purpose.

I think they did that in order to stop all the arah p2 sellers, there was really too many of then on lfg. So, since they couldn’t fix the Lupicus exploit they just buffed the Alphard fight.

The removal of the WP stops no sellers. It punishes bad parties and achieves nothing else.
Alphard is still ez mode if you know the tactics.
Managed to solo it, did take a few tries.. Now there’s a patch, I wonder if they’re going to fix it.

Good job anet you’ve screwed the path 2. Alphard is impossible to kill now.
I will say this now probably makes path 2 the hardest in the game now for average groups as that pull is the fastest and least obviously telegraphed full party insta-down out of all dungeon bosses that I can think of. Also the lack of that way was pretty awful. I was in a group where I was the only one who could make the run without a thief so I did it before them and quickly get the wp. There was no wp so the rest went through using stealth however coming within ~900 range of the conglomeration of risen by that turret at the end was automatic insta-death without invulnerability even though we were no where near the spiders attacking it.

You don’t have to dodge at Alphard and you don’t have to kill Lupicus in order to complete path 2 or 3. You can pull Alphard away from the arena and strafe back and forth while ranging, causing all of the projectiles and pull to constantly miss you. You literally take no damage. Or you can just pull Alphard to the boxes and run around one of them while meleeing and you also won’t take much damage. Or you can exploit the fight in one of the numerous ways and completely AFK the whole fight.
Wtf anet, where are the patch notes for this? If your going to change something at least give us a heads up.

Anyone mind posting a solo video on Alphard with a warr, and another w/ mes? I can do it, but it takes a fair bit of effort and I don’t often pull it off first try anymore. Show me your strategies.
It seems operative Belka has been fixed also, although I won’t complain about that; seems she can’t be afk’d anymore.
The waypoint removal only hurts people unfamiliar with the terrain/mob placement/where to run, along with classes with longer defensive cooldowns.
Alphard is still soloable in a “legit” manner, at least for my guardian. It is, however, utterly infuriating, especially considering the pull tell is obscured half the time behind vfx spam and/or damage floaters. What’s more, it’s still boring as hell.
Meanwhile, Lupicus can still be skipped; people can still go “swimming”, allowing them to activate any wp and afk kill any boss in the dungeon in total safety; there’s also the unofficial “arah jp’s” that are still, to my knowledge, fully functional. There are other, more nefarious practices which go on too.
So in summation (and I think robertul’s lampooning of the situation flew over most people’s heads) the only people which these changes hurt (belka aside) are noobs and soloers who refuse to exploit. One could be forgiven for thinking exploits were being encouraged over legit play.

It’s only a matter of time until anet finds another way to make life difficult for arah p3. Seem like anet wants to increase more path sellers because this is what it’ll eventually lead to.
Kited her behind the boxes while being heavily drunk yesterday and had no problem.
All in all a weird way to scare the sellers from the path, but it will probably work.
I doubt it’s to scare sellers or pugs. I bet it’s for job security. Similar to that SE dungeon change at the beginning where they removed the bridge. Unnecessary minor change just to show some form of productivity.
But the alphard change isn’t much of a big deal, a bit harder and less of an AFK rotation spamming fest.
Just fix that guardian burn already, the thing is just annoying.

Question guys, you say the bomb explodes instantly when not dodged, how does reflection play here? if alphad does dodge, does it murder me too?
I tried to solo alphard but i ended up killed by the spinning atack because all barricades were destroyed. When i fought her everytime she did the spinning one barricade got destroyed. So looks like the fight is a dps race too.
You can run pretty far away without resetting her and hide from the balls, which are fairly easy to dodge unless they bounce off someone.
But yeah the faster you chunk her down the safer.

Yeah definitely, that also explains why you’re picking items up and why Mass Invis is on 98 seconds cooldown And why lupicus’ quest is up.

anet, have you noticed that the more you try to fix things, the more broken it gets? prime example are the exploit users out there, benefiting them most because they actually dont give a kitten .
now, if u seen that screenshot where people are exploiting the bosses, u should understand its a FACT that you ARE NOT discouraging people from using hacks or bugs, instead you are PROMOTING people to find more of this glitches and hacks to be applied to game.
make it harder, bigolbomb x3 after pull. insta deaths. you can only dodge that many times.

atm what happens is that the pull only deals about 140 damage, you cannot reflect the pull, only projectile block. once u get pulled, bigolbomb instacast 1 time, then bomb 1 second later after u land on floor, then 3rd will explode, which is the usual big ol bomb we dodge. stability helps, but u dont have it perma, its kinda impossible to melee becuase after a pull regardless of shield of avenger you get bombed.
edit, if you dodge the initial pull, the 2 instacast bombs wont happen.

i wouldnt report him for the fact that he was obviously exploiting.
i would report him for using exploits to make himself look like he is good at the game.
@boyd: making bossfights more difficult doesnt encourage people to use exploits.
to be honest it makes dungeons more interesting.
