People should just learn how to dodge the scorpion wires. SOHARDCANTDOREFLECTSPLSHALP
I’m playing on a terrible laptop cause my computer broke down and I get about 5 fps at that fight. It’s basically a slideshow and I can still manage to dodge the scorpion wires and kill her in melee range (both coordinated and solo). What really annoys me about this fight is the fact that those haystacks/barrel things don’t respawn and you have to hide behind the pillar for her daggerstorm if they’re all down.

You know, I don’t even think it’s Alphard that I’m complaining about anymore. It’s that stupid waypoint after the spiders. I do need to increase my skill level, true, but I don’t see how this path is soloable w/ warrior anymore after this patch. Please, if someone much better than I am would show me how it’s done, I’d appreciate it.
It’s actually much easier to do solo than with a group. The pull is pretty well telegraphed, and without all the particle effects from your teammates blocking the way you can see it coming every single time.
I dont know what they did to the turrets at the waypoint.. I’ve no problem going past it when soloing. However in parties if someone has already past it I would need shield block or endure pain to get past if running through the turrent. Or you could just stick to the left and instead of going through turrets, jump up the slope beside on the left, there’s a hole you can go through without aggroing the spiders. Dont use the golem.

Dear lord, I was cursing the kitten out of Anet a few days ago trying to do that on mesmer, with a bunch of spiders piled up around the turret.
Interesting… Really want to watch someone solo it to get past that wp location. I seem to pull some spiders every time I get past it and they don’t de-aggro.

They also made it possible to dodge in a patch a while ago. I think it was the August 25th, 2012 one?

as soon as you turn the corner, hit the stability and the pain defiance ability, have a gs on you and do the spin move to get past it quick. Super simple.
Already said, new tafu, arah p2 will be deleted 6 months/1 year down the road and swapped with a new one. RISEN SCARLET?!?! Maybe. Mark my words.
Anyway… after having a few days to try Alphie out consistently…. a pugbuster, a bit more challenging than usual for regular teams. The pull likes to go through reflects randomly. I always dodge, just in case. I saw it going through feedback, swirling AND shield – a messup on our part – soooo, yeah.
It’s also true what was said… easier to duo than to 5 man it, because you can see her tells clearly. I happened to duo her once and 3 man aswell, it was much easier.
Fight her in open field, far from the centre so you have time to take cover when she does her spinning move.
About the spider skip… annoying as kitten because I suck at skipping, but when I finally found that dang hole on the left it became much easier. If you’re on a mes you can do it in basically perma stealth and portal the others. I mean, hell, if I made it… You have no idea how much I suck at skipping. So look for the hole, mang. Always look for the hole.
And if there’s none, better take your fingers away from “her”.

I made the mistake of trying to do the spider run on my thief today after someone already activated the turret. The radius of the turret extends too far for me to shadowstep past it without it killing me instantly. :/
Alphard is still really easy though, it just requires a lot more reflects if you have a party that can’t dodge the pull well enough.

It’s still solo-able on a warrior, just more difficult. By difficult I mean you cant AFK all the bosses anymore.

It’s not the radius of the turret, it’s the range of the darn spider bites, so instead of taking the normal path, stick to your left and you’ll find a hole you can go through and jump past the turret taking no dmg.

It was the turret that was killing me, actually, seeing as I used stealth to get by the spiders. But I did not know about that hole there, that should make things much easier. Well, at least until they inevitably close it off.
