Hey guys, I have a question. When buying a path 2 arah from someone selling in lfg, but the quest to kill lupicus is still there, is it always an exploit? I thought that it was, that they must have gone underwater and skipped him using an exploit. Some random recently showed me how to skip lupicus using the jumping puzzle in arah though and, tbh, this doesn’t seem like an exploit to me. If there is a jumping puzzle that enables you to skip lupicus in arah, that seems legitimate. Opinions?

It’s an exploit, fact.

Why? You’re not breaking out of the map, you’re just jumping through the maze. I completely understand why going under the map is an exploit, but jumping puzzles are a part of gw2. Lupicus isn’t necessary to progress in the dungeon, you get rewarded whether or not you kill him. This kind of points towards it not being exploitative. Has a GM made an actual statement on using this being an exploit?

You are jumping over walls of the map, which you are clearly not supposed to reach…

Jumping puzzles often go over walls and other random scenery. I don’t see how, in this situation, you’re clearly not supposed to go over these walls.

Except that the jumping puzzles have one clear path that is intended, unlike in Arah, where there are numerous ways to jump outside of the intended path. Anet already tried fixing some of them, but people just keep finding new ways to jump out of the map.

It’s not a jumping puzzle, it’s leaving the map. I think they got the JP monicker but they’re not genuine jumping puzzles.

Definitely an exploit, you’re skipping major sections (lupi) of the dungeon.

Never give these people business. If you’re ever buying Arah paths give the people that actually do the path your business. They deserve it a lot more than these Lupi-skipping noobs do.

And to answer your question yes it’s obviously exploiting unintended map breakouts to gain an ingame advantage. It’s bannable. You won’t get in trouble if you’re just exploring but you can potentially get banned for doing what you described in the OP; selling without completing the path.

Yes, it’s an exploit. ANET has said they will ban people selling paths (but it’s ANET, so I have no faith in their enforcement mechanism working reliably), and in the past they’ve put up invisible walls throughout the dungeon to try and prevent people from skipping “required” bosses. The only problem is there are so many possible off-the-intended-map paths throughout the dungeon that you can’t reasonably close them all off.

If you see someone selling an exploited path, please don’t buy from them, and also please report them. Support legitimate sellers who have put in the time to develop the skill to actually solo/duo/whatever the dungeon. It’s going to cost you the same amount of gold in any event.

A not uncommon criticism you’ll find here is that ANET should have just made the bosses that they want to be required, actually required to get the reward for completing the dungeon. If only they’d actually do this.

In regular jumping puzzles you don’t walk through walls and fall through terrain…

Doesn’t the LA (i think) pirate JP have walls you walk through?

Really though, The OP seems to agree with glitching under the world to be an exploit. Logically that would mean that using unintended methods of avoiding barriers they surely put there with the intention of stopping you is wrong, correct?

Why wouldn’t that allow apply to the bosses and major events of the path?

Using a JP to skip trash I think could be argued either way. Using it to skip bosses seems pretty strait forward exploit.

What about the lions arch jumping puzzle that has that sick skydive at the end.

That’s the pirate JP.

But those walls are marked with lit torches to aid players finding them. Unlike in Arah.

No no, there’s a magical jp that sends you on a skydive adventure in LA.

Always make sure Armada WP is on the map, otherwise get the HECK out of there, cuz’ they be exploiting, or scamming.

As someone who can legit solo Arah p2, and on a Necro no less, I can confirm that you needn’t exploit to run people this path, and there are many willing to sell you a legit run.

If Lupi hasn’t been killed, leave and dont buy from them. Report them if you wish.
There are no JPs in Arah, just bannable exploits.
