So a long while back I was seeing all sorts of threads about Zhaitan’s boss battle being a hilarious broken mess where he did nothing but stand still & let you tickle him with artillery or something. I also recall a dev post saying that the fight was not working as intended & a fix was planned. Along with the boss, there were just as many (if not more) threads about how all the end rewards were just a random handful of Lv.40-80 blues/greens.

From that point on I made it up to Victory or Death, and decided to leave Arah until the boss encounter was working as intended.
Now that a few months have passed & I haven’t seen any of these topics come up again; is it safe to assume Zhaitan is in working order (and I assume you get a Pact Token as a reward a la GW1)? Or has everyone finished the Story-mode when it was bugged out and nobody’s ever been in there since (which solves the lack of posts about it)?

You still stand around and do nothing but tickle him with artillery for a good five to ten minutes though… Yay…?

I did it a few days ago rewards are still not worth it (a rare seriously? Anet come on). Oh and the boss fight? Just spam one like all the other dragon fights :P

I know it can be completed, I’m just wondering if the Zhaitan battle is working as intended. I believe a red post said it was supposed to be fixed in an update before Mad King’s Day, but I don’t recall seeing it in the patch notes or anything since then.
I’ve already gotten one previous story step encounter changed, so I don’t want to have that happen again (especially on the final part).

Yes, for me the battle against Zhaitan was the biggest letdown in the game, You basicly sit in a turret and press 1 the whole fight,… i mean come on, it’s the final boss, I was expecting stages and awesome mechanics, or something

I just completed my personal story a couple of days ago.

From the issues you brought up:

- I remember seeing gear which was level appropriate.

- I also got a Pact token to trade in for a level 80 rare.

- I don’t know how it was before, but for the Zhaitan fight, we still blasted him at the end, as he clung to a tower. However, I think he did fire back at us. I don't remember ever getting hit while I manned the cannon. I remember seeing AoE effects and things that spawned behind the cannons (like tendrils or something).

Yes he is working as Anet “wanted” a long time ago they said something like you are suppose to have to be fighting stuff and not just sitting on the turrets. Really you can have one person deal with them or just leave the turret and heal yourself.
