Guild Wars 2

This post is a followup to another thread where other players replied they had interest in joining together with other players in Arah on a regular basis. That interest inspired the creation of a new guild (thanks Obal!) with the sole purpose of offering that.

This isn’t a recruitment post. This guild will serve as more of a list of players with the same interest. Experience isn’t necessary to join as there are people willing help players new thru Arah.

Requirements for joining:

-Your characters are on a NA server
-Have full exotic gear
-Have a ranged weapon on you (warrior- rifle, guardian – scepter + focus or sheild, theif – bow)
-Have a good attitude and respect others.
-Don’t be pushy or elitist

Make a post here for an invite to guild and you will be added. It will make it easier to track. Please dont whisper Obal in game for an invite. Someone from the guild will give you an invite. If you like you can give some general info that might be helpful to others (kind of like my post below).

Thanks goes to SkyChef who was nice enough to put together a website to help groups coordinate together.

The website has good tools and has much to offer in the way of coordinating group runs. Or you can feel free to changing your ingame status to LFG if you feel thats better or use GW2LFG as some people have suggested to coordinate groups.

Time: On most week nites and try to run a daily, usually path 3 usually just as the dungeons are resetting. On weekends I try to run paths 1 thru 3.
Other: I’m dont consider myself a speed runner but I defintely dont mind skipping trash mobs.

Gear: All exotics, a mix of PVT, Zerks, Valk’s, Knight’s for strong survivability while not sacrificing damage or support
Experience: I’ve done path 3 once.
Time: Tues-Fri : 6:30 PM EST – 2AM EST
Sat-Mon: Can be on anytime, usually a large portion of the day.

Good guild, and yes I am one of the ones willing to take people on Arah who are new. I don’t mind teaching, you can PM me anytime. Bear in mind though, I farm other dungeons and fractals. I only say no if I am already doing something though, =)

I had some thoughts about the guild when I made it that along these lines and with my thread. It’s kind of a work in progress now as far as they go though. I just need to talk things over with a few people and maybe we can get some stuff going that will benefit the community more . There will be a huge emphasis though on Kumakichi’s last 2 requirements though for sure.

a thousand times this! i really really would like to know how to do Arah runs! I will be patient and listen to what needs to be done. Even as a newcomer, i would like to get through it as quickly as a vet would. I will even work on builds to do these runs. If its okay, i would like to join this guild to learn then do regularly.

Warrior – Zerker (cause i do CoF runs) w/ rifle
Elementalist – D/D PVT gear. Also good with a staff
Thief – D/D glass cannon (not really geared and more for fun. i hear the shroud is good for getting past mobs you dont need to fight)
Availability – pretty much whenever.. not a lot going on.

• Thief – D/D and dual pistol – Traited 0/10/30/30/0 in a mix of PVT and Knight’s gear. He’s not squishy and keeps the fights on the caltrops. Usually also stealth heal/ rezz ppl when they need it. Will swith to bow if needed. Will switch traits if needed.

• Availability: Central time zone, can only really play on the weekends. I’ll log in on the weekdays but will afk frequently due to real life issues and such.

• I’m not really one for speed runs (though I don’t mind them either), I’m in it for the dungeon atmosphere. When I’m learning a new dungeon, it just makes it so much more enjoyable in an atmosphere where exp ppl are willing to teach new ppl the ropes. Less drama too.

truth be told, i am really close to getting my req’d 500, so i am trying to hurry and complete that for the Gift of Color. i would like to eventually lead a guild team in the future with my found knowledge.

i find arah to be my “new flavor of the months”, since i have not returned into Orr since completing my story. i have been going on Path 3 runs, and learn something new each time. i have spykits to help myself cap at the last altar part, i listen to instruction if given early enough, but i lack in jumping skills (for the first part with the jumping on the lantern thing) and the running part (with all the mobs, after the lantern part). when running path 3, i am currently trying to apply what i have learned so far, and feeling out groups to apply where necessary. i have the base idea down (where bosses are, lupi phases, where to stand), but still come up short where i mentioned.

Traited: power/toughness/vitality (in that order, for ele)
primary skill: fire, but i run earth in dungeons, with little bit of fire. earth shioelds help me some during lupi.

equipment: has ascended rings, recent amulet, back piece, plus re-skinned exotics. uses primarily staff due to high level areas.

availability: M-TH 9-11pm PST, fridays until 11pm (short break for dinner between 7 and 9), sat after 2pm, sunday all day until 11pm

Is there an easy way to get a group going once in the guild when needed? Since most don’t rep, only way would be to whisper each person individually, which could be a pain…

It could be solved this way, if the guild is structured to run in certain time plus 15m-30m of latency (whatever the best latency needed to set up a group), ie 7-7:30PM EST, 11-11:30PM EST. During that time, whoever wants to run Arah, has to rep the guild so guild channel can be utilized to broadcast message. If you don’t rep, then you will miss the message, unless somebody want to whisper to you directly.

Time: On most week nights, though I focus on doing Arah on the weekends due to my guild’s current lack of experience and needing time to get through the dungeon.
Other: I can be a speed runner or go at a steady pace depending upon the group. I like to have fun and joke around, and am usually the one who carries my guild through boss encounters (like Alpha). I also have a guardian who is fully equipped for running Arah, if armor is needed instead of a glass cannon.

Sent out some invites. Some of you were max’d out on guilds already so we couldn’t invite. I’m not sure about the best way to build your groups. You might have a good idea about rep’ing at dungeon reset time. But until we get familiar with everybody I think we are going to have to whisper some too.

I think the best solution may be to put that lfg status to some use. Is there any other use for it that I don’t know of?

good idea, if you’re available for a group invite, change your status to LFG, so ppl can just invite (or pm first) those ppl with blue icons next to them. I don’t think there is anything useful about those status icons other than that.

We have a few people to help with new players, including me. I give them different guild ranks so we can identify them and run with them a few times to show them the ropes and put them to the normal rank after.
