Arah dungeon.. Lupi
Watch this, learn his moves:

Tips:
Reflects/smokescreen work on his projectile.
He’s considered undead- So use undead pots and If your groups having a rough time pass them around, they help alot.
Make sure you zoom out all the way, makes it easier to see lupi & dodge his attacks.
Bring stability for p3, if you have it you can get out of the bubble.
His single target bolt (which seems to hit people most in my opinion) has no red circle, so just watch for it and dodge.
He summons a grub or two when he switches to p2, make sure you target and kill those, p2 and p3 are easier with 0 grub stacks.
1. he doesn’t need a change. The more you fight him, the more you will learn, the easier he will become, he will become the most fun boss in the game after a while.
2. what class are you? I suggest watching w/e your class is do lupi from their PoV. War, guard, thief, mes have all soloed lupi.
3. of course you’re going to fail on lupi the 1st time you try him. 3 hours on him your 1st time? sounds about right. Next time you do it you’ll kill him in about 30 mins. Ever time after that will be about 10-30 mins, depending if you wipe or not.

Im a mesmer and we had 2 other light armors, 2 ele’s one was a support and 2 guardians.
Most patient group ever but even patience couldn’t get us through.
You’re right- then first time I ran TA explorer it was a little overwhelming, but I could run it with my eyes closed anymore it seems. I don’t want to give up on this dungeon because it can be done – just need to practice more like anything I guess.
Some tips -
Generally the more new people fighting Lupi the harder it can be. I don’t like taking more then 1 new person but have done it with 3 new people.
Part 2 is generally the hardest so be on your toes.
When circles start appearing move away from him to find safer spots and try and save your dodge if possible.
Don’t rez in front of him unless you are well prepared and use to doing this.
If he chases you with his tunnel it’s basically your job to kite him while others deal dmg. I choose the back wall and go back and forth to allow space for the rest of the team in case someone goes down. When he tunnels at you you have to dodge when he gets close. If someone is downed always kite him away from downed players.
If he’s not on you, you can hug the side wall in the closed doors ways to break combat if he is on the other side of the room. This allows a moment to regen some health and run back in. Better to break off for a few seconds then become a dead player to the team. You can do this in p2 and p3. And don’t go near that door you came in. If you get another enemy in there you’re going to have much bigger issues.
In part 3 stability can save your life though i don’t know if a blink skill can get you out of the bubble. You can also block and dodge life steal and the bubble attacks. I meele him in p3 and find it easier then ranged though i can run into a bubble and rez people with out much of an issue.
Many groups go bad when they all try and rez someone in front of lupi in p2 or p3 and he downs everyone. This is a big mistake to try if you aren’t very experience with him. No more then 2 people should ever rez 1 person. You also have to watch that he doesn’t charge you while you are trying to rez. Just get out of there even if it means leaving the other for dead. I find runs hardest when people keep dropping and that stops me and others from doing dmg. He just takes practice to like anything else to survive at.
Sometimes an easy solution is to have a designated person who will avoid combat for the most part and just rez people. It’s rare I have to do this but if 2 or more people cant stay alive it’s hurts the whole team and i would rather 1 of those 2 just rez the other person.
If you can master when to dodge as he throws poison (with out the circle) you will be in much better shape.
Lastly don’t take your eye’s off him.
If you need help just message me in game.
Am I right in thinking that Lupi gained immunity to cripple in the patch? He was immune today and he previously did accept a crippled icon and did seem to walk slower (in phase 3) when crippled.
If anyone else wants to help another nub

He has -100% condition duration.
If you have no condition duration, you cannot apply conditions to him. If you have any condition duration, you can apply shorter duration conditions.
I.E. if you have 30% condition duration and use a 10 second cripple, he’ll get hit by a 3 second cripple.
My biggest issue with lupi is the ‘double bubble’. You stability or blink out of the first bubble and he immediately bubbles you again — and usually that time you’re screwed. It’d be fine if this was a rare occurrence but I’ve seen him do this multiple times in a row. I’ve tried to stay at max range but every time so far he just ends up chasing me around the room until he eventually gets me. (as guardian)

Hey bro, you know?
This big Lupi guy had already been toned down a great deal!
His mess aoe does not hit you outside of red circle anymore (used to be even if you’re not in red circles, his mess aoe still hit you), and his attack damage had been dropped significantly.
Plus Lupis is one of the bosses that has an extremely slow attack pattern.
So having a guardian or two that can provide blocks and keep on Lupi’s argo, the fight could be “extremely easy”. (This boss is easy to the degree that it becomes like a faceroll now compare to what it used to be)
There are other ways of surviving his bubble other than using stability to get out. You can block, evade inside of it, use invulnerability etc. It just takes some practice.

From my own (limited) experience it seems more about making sure he doesn’t get any grubs to him in phase one and the rest is just kiting him and picking up the downed people.
I read somewhere that he targets the person with the lowest vit…..not too sure how true that is though.
I have most of the Arah armor set on my necro which I got pretty much entirely with pug groups of people I didn’t know, and I think I’ve wiped on Lupi twice. Both times we respawned and killed him immediately after. Lupi is one of the few really good bosses in this game and I would hate to see him get nerfed for the crime of not being another “stack up, time warp, and melee dps” encounter.
He already is a “stack up, time warp, and melee dps” encounter for some groups. It’s just a matter of how comfortable you are fighting him.

@Snowhawk
The most common mistake I see people make is when the kiter get’s downed. People all rush in like a school of crazy piranhas to get them up. Lupi throws in his AOE attacks and the entire group is downed.
If your kiter get’s downed and lupi is still on top of him. Let him die! When lupi starts to follow another person, that person kites lupi around while the rest has literally ages to get the dead guy up. Rince and reapeat till lupi is dead.
As a fellow mesmer. Make sure you’re using “Blink” to get to downed people faster. Together with the trait “Medic’s Feedback” it will make getting people up easy for you. But still do NOT get people up when they are laying under Lupi unless you’re really comfortable with lupi and know what to do.

uh… you know that under lupi is the safest zone you can be right? While there he can’t hit you with his single target aoes and he doesn’t shadow dash, or if he does to someone else, it doesn’t hit you. His melee, while damaging, is HIGHLY telegraphed so easily avoidable. Only thing to really watch out for (which definitely ISN’T a problem for warrior, mesmer, guardian, ele, or engi) is when he does his aoe, the projectiles land instantly. This you’ll have to pop blocks, immobilizes, or best of all, aoe projectile block/reflect… so mostly just the 1 auto attack.

I’d appreciate some more advice on dodging the red circles. Do you get splashed with damage even outside of the circles? I swear I’m taking damage from the AOEs even when outside the circles, and I don’t think I’m being hit by his single target spit, either (I do know he does that during his AOE spray).
Do his circles further away land after the ones closest to him? If you have to dodge, is it best to dodged toward him, away or to the side? Can the AOEs be blocked or reflected?
I think Lupy is a fair fight, and I don’t think he needs to be nerfed. But it is frustrating to repeatedly wipe on him, since Arah is so time-consuming and you get utterly no rewards for getting to him (and there’s not even a waypoint near him for when you wipe).
There’s a splash outside the circle so you have to be quite away from them to not get hit about a 600 range at least.
The aoe hits the circles closer to him first then the farther ones, best to dodge where there’s no circle, he summons fewer circles the further away you are, if you are really watching sometimes another circle has already hit before the one you are on so you can dodge towards that one. Also if you’re playing it safe and keeping your range if you run outwards where there’s no circles you won’t even have to dodge.
Yes the AOEs can be blocked/reflected, actually the fight will go faster if his aoe is reflected close to him. of course if people aren’t close to the reflection field they can still get hit.

Lupi is a ray of sunshine in dark dungeons. Once you learn the event and do it a couple times you can appreciate just how good and fun it is.
