Hi, yesterday I did Arah with a PUG of good players, we had no problems with most of the trash like Illusionists, Hunters, Mage and killed Lupi in first try but there were some encounters that I did not understand and wiped us SO HARD it hurts, so If anyone has the knowlegde and would like to share his knowledge – please do

What caused problems.

Veil Oozes – I hate those mobs they hit like crazy and give condition like crazy. We had no problems while they where 2 or 3 but in one part 6 jumped on us it was a nightmare.

Big Ooze Boss – another “We hate melee” boss his knockbacs are insane and it kills in 2 hits and it cannot be blocked by aegis or using “block” abilites. For phase 1 I took as many Immobilizes as I could (Guardian scepter 3, signet, sylvari racial) and used them when he started to “shine” before the jump it was a boring fight but hey… it has to be done. Phase 2 is… I don’t fully undestand maybe, loads of aoe that cannot be migrated via mesmer Feedback or Guardians ‘wall’ we somehow did it but I don’t like it.

The Tar Boss… ok him I don’t understand at all, the whole fight he was focused on me! I run like and idiot and dodge his atack that knockbacked me even if I dodge – why ?
Some of us got immmobilized with the tar but I don’t even know wich ability does that. And the 300 year old wisky with ‘only’ 3 second cast… i could not cast it once – I think it’s for removing the tar from players but not sure becouse I could not cast it even once! Every time I try casting 2 seconds and knockback, knockback, knockback, knockback, knockback… (almost like at dredge with daze, daze, daze, daze, daze, daze, daze, daze, daze, daze, daze, daze, daze)

I don’t even want to talk about the gorilla boss he’s so fun we skip him always.

But the next room with spiders, we attended carefully not to rush in there, and after 7-8 deaths we managed to kil most mobs and left with 2 champions, 3 silver. The whole room jumped on us as soon as we attack one spider, we used Guardian staff ‘5’ so they could not pass for a coupple of seconds, wall of reflection for the poison, mesmets time wrap, 25 stacks of might, 18 seconds of protection, we had +10% damage to undead -10% from them and the whole room just jumped on us 2 champions, 5 silvers and 15 normal mobs we were killed in an instance… the champions just 1 shotted us it was impossible to focus on the champions almost insta kill abilities with so many mobs on us. It took us 7-8 wipe-run to kill most of the spiders and left with champions only…

Thank You for the attention.

This is why people skip trash, because of a lot of these encounters with little reward. It seems like you tried killing everything in your path at least, therefore the increased difficulty of the path. Veil oozes bring a lot of condition removal and don’t get hit (so range) Mesmer aoe condition removal, necro well and staff 4 works well, feedback and reflect work on their ranged attacks.

The boss is anti melee friendly ofc, the oozes he leaves are a pain but if you must 4 take out the silver ones while a more tanky character ranges the champion.

Tar boss must be kept burnt or he’ll cover you in tar and spawn adds, preferably with the whisker’s long burning duration, if there are adds they should be primary focus and you can rally off them, again condition removal is optimal. If Tar boss is focused on you of course you don’t want to be one casting the whiskey skill on him.

Spiders are tough, Aoe as much, feedback/reflect and timewarp work well. Again you can use the tactic above to take out silvers before the champion.

These are actually pretty challenging fights I would do more often but people always skip it because the time vs. reward thing.

On my signature there is a link to my dungeon guides (text) if you get problems with another path.

With Vile Oozes it is important to focus. They split at 20% to two Lesser Oozes which combine to Vile Ooze if they reach each other. If you kill multiple Vile Oozes at the same time most likely some Lesser Oozes reach each other.
CC-skills (stuns, etc) are very effective against Silver-enemies. Kiting is also useful against melee-enemies. Run in circle, keep hitting and dodge if Ooze gets too close. They stack conditions fast so avoid getting hit (Weakness (10 s), Crippled (10 s), Poison (10 s) and 3 Vulnerability (10 s) per hit).

Ancient Ooze is a tough one to melee (random behavior). You can melee but you need mobility skills (leaps) to quickly get on range. Dodge back once/twice when you see it glowing. Try figure out who is it trying to hit and stay behind Ooze (so that Ooze moves to another direction which you dodged).

Key to beat tar-boss is to keep it burning. If it burns its attacks just do some and burning, otherwise attacks spawn enemies and “stun” people (if you walk on AoE). Whisky can be used to keep up burning but much better if you can do it without (elementalist, longbow warrior).
Also it is important to control small tar population. Quickly go stand on springs when boss disappears to prevent most of tars (and keep boss burning). However you don’t have to stand on them when boss is out.

Spider-room is also skippable but you need to be able to grab those crystals. My groups rarely kill them but you can try have 1-2 guys just kiting the champions while rest of the players kill other enemies.

Trust me, if Anet decides to implement 1 rare per silver, 1 exotic per champion, the mobs will be completely annihilated and have no place to hire.

People are too serious of their knowledge.
