Arah rushing ? authorised or not ??
To my knowledge A-net hasn’t every said one way or another if engaging in jumping techniques to bypass dungeon mechanics/content is ok or not, someone please correct me if i am wrong.
I could have misheard, and this is not answering your question, but I think I heard that if you keep doing the same story mode/finish a dungeon under 30 mins/do the same EM branch again and again, the rewards get smaller. I know it’s off topic but I say this because this might be pointless if rushing through the dungeon works against you.
8 tokens = 10 min with this rush.
but i have said for the futur of the game token reward up ?
no 10 minutes but maybe 15 ~
you are bypassing large portions of the dungeon to gain rewards much faster than intended. It’s essentially the same as the cof path 2 exploit.
If you run past monsters and they leash, I wouldn’t consider it an exploit.
If you are jumping up or around walls to get to areas that would not normally be accessible without clearing things, I think you’re tip-toeing into exploit territory.
It’s a very fine distinction, but it’s there. I don’t know if it’s punishable by Arena Net, but it’s certainly enough to warrant them looking into and fixing. And when something seems big enough to warrant fixing in a timely fashion, it is questionable to do.
I wouldnt think they are too worried about it since it hasnt been fixed since launch yet soooo………..
Get a Mesmer and a Thief and just stealth and Portal your way around if you feel its and exploit…
Or is the irony in my solution ?

This is what I was thinking. I took my time getting to 80 and I soon completed Arah story mode.
Before I even knew what a shard was I went into the dungeon for loot and money in exp mode…The first group I was ever in had me follow them and do this and to this day I have never been in one group that did not do this.
I eventually just got to bored to do it anymore. I still have yet to find a explore group that wants to do it normal and really I can’t blame them…
It is boring but it is fast and the shards only coming out of chests gives them no incentive to try to kill everything.
Pretty sure in the State of COF exploit thread they said it was indeed and exploit and they where working on it if you look around. the question really is what and when are they going to do about it.
Not an exploit, but probably not intended.
Bypassing content by jump mashing against a wall isn’t what we wanted you to do.
We’ve known about this issue in particular, and are actively working on it.

But are you going to do anything about the people doing it over and over or are you just going to close the hole eventually further teaching exploit quick before its gone that people seem to have already adapted.
I would like to see exploit punishments so people stop doing it every chance they get when a new one is found.

Here is the thing though, I havent done Arah yet but in COF there are actually ledges you can get on and jump to, you dont have to jump mash to do it.
The thing with cof and arah are different.
Jumping thing in cof bug the kitten out of fights and tokens.
Jumping in arah just allow you to bypass trash mob. (a big chunk of trash mob)

And more importantly, people stop actively pursuing. I only see people announcing arah shard speed farms and cof speed farms in Lion’s arch, no one wants to do all the way…i really need a dungeon guild.
It is God’s decision that i fight.
As knight of honor, as protector of the sin. I sacrifice myself, for the blood of criminals.
Yeah I have never seen a so called exploit….I understand some people feel cheated by other people doing these “jumps” but the one in Arah isn’t even hard. I mean you just jump and you’re there. There is no skill or trick required. And trust me anyone doing it is suffering because it is BORING.
I mean the game has jump puzzles in it for heaven’s sake….these people have been trained to do this….and it is not even hard to find at all.
The problem is at the root…..the hours required to do these dungeons and the rewards given for completing them do not even out.
I have no need for exp or money. I only need the tokens. I would love to kill all the mobs and go through the dungeon as intended but no one wants to do that so there are basically no groups who will run it with you.
You have to give people incentive. I like a challenge but how about making random mobs drop 1-2 tokens so that everyone is not thinking…“God how can we skip these…”
At this point people aren’t in the dungeon for a story…they are there to fight and get rewards…
we want to kill things…just give us an incentive to. Most level 80s have 20+gold and have no need for experience. We want a challenge/fight and we want a chance to be rewarded for each encounter. Not “kill for two hours and get 4 shards” that crap is mind numbing.
Oh and I am only talking about Arah…I have not done the other one.

I do hope that Arena Net live up to their earlier promise of punishing those who exploit the game to the fullest extent possible. I took my time exploring the game world and found the journey to be incredibly captivating. I still haven’t even seen every zone yet!
Though I’m reluctant to enter dungeons. I want some of the gear pieces that are available from the various tokens earned within, though I feel indirectly punished for being a honest player when I see people in full dungeon attire (some of whom even brag about cheating to get it).
I agree, Garenthal. It really cheapens it for those of us who want to play the game as intended.
Jade Quarry
I don’t know of any ways to cheat to get it…and even with the speed runs it would take a ton of hours to get a full set.
Even if you had the same crew running them over and over without end it would take 90+ hours and then you would hate the game so much you would probably quit.
Not to mention the exotic gear is not “leet loot”…the stats are just above most of the rares I have.
It is mostly just cosmetics. I do understand feeling cheated if you do it the right way but don’t worry I have yet to find anyone who will do the dungeons straight up…they do story or speed runs…that is it.
By the time you get to the level to do the dungeon I mentioned hopefully the rewards/work will be more balanced and I can almost promise that speed runs will be dead.
Problem is if they don’t fix the root of the problem there won’t be anyone to do the dungeons with.

How would you even know that those players earned that gear legitimately, running the least or non exploitable/buggy parts of a dungeon? Simple fact is you cant, you are just judging people to judge people.

He specifically said “(some of whom even brag about cheating to get it).”. hypocrite!
I don’ think people should be punished for doing it this way because you really don’t have a choice right now. Everyone runs it this way. I have not found one group that wanted to do it the whole way through yet, so your forced to do it this way or not at all.
They will just have to fix the other giant easily jumped hole in the wall, and maybe untether trash mobs in dungeons and most speed runs would be solved. Probably easier said than done.
Exploits should be punished.
End of question.
Players should not get the idea that they can capitalize on whatever new exploits there are until they get fixed. They should be afraid of using exploits, because they already know that there are consequences to their actions.
Anyway, that’s how I would like a game company to do things. How Arena Net handles such things is still up in the air. They actually seem kind of relaxed about exploiting. It’s kind of sad.
The reason people skip content in arah is simply because the whole design is bad. If you don’t skip the dungeon paths could take 2+ hours and a lot of people simply don’t have that much time. I don’t mind challenging content but arah is more about quantity and less about quality when it comes to difficulty.
Seems like i’m getting a lot of use out of this image lately.

well now you have me curious
the image is from altered beast, at the very beginning of the game the wizard in the picture commands you to Rise from your grave! Which is sort of what happened to this thread.
