Arah speculation
I’m seeing a 5 copper completion bonus in our future * giddy excitement *

Longer, or duration of run time, isn’t likely to be the sole determining factor. Lots to consider, and a few discussions on it already. While AP4 can take a long time, it’s arguable thakittens level of difficulty warrants any greater reward due primarily to unavoidable minimum duration.

It’ll probably have the highest completion reward but likely not worth it for the majority of pugs.
I think the issue is that you need to compare the average players to the elite hardcore types. If you try to make it rewarding to the average group, those hardcore types will find a way to farm this path in 10 minutes.
I doubt an average pug will be able to find this rewarding, but perhaps skilled players can.
Still, there’s also the issue of drops. Essence just doesn’t compare to cores/lodestones or such.
As an asura, I do this all the time.”
Calling 1.5G for path 4, tops. Also calling that they won’t fix the waypoint problem in path 1, ever.
No lodes or cores; waste of time.
I think it would be a mistake to give Arah paths a significantly higher reward. P1/2/3 are all sub-20 paths, and path 4 isn’t far off. Though, I definitely wouldn’t complain
I don’t fully understand how the new ‘reward’ system in dungeons is meant to work, but I think it’s probably just getting over-hyped at this point, just like the previous patches that were meant to be super amazing.

Not for the average player :p

QFT. I’m wondering about the consequences of this discrepancy between normal players and hardcore speedrunners once the new reward system is active.

The skilled players will probably get punished and the person that wants to do Arah with his blue Cleric’s Shout Warrior will be rewarded one thousand times over. That’s just my guess, though.

This. And then we will called scumbags and elitists for being so horribly selfish as to want fair treatment for playing correctly.

I think dungeons will reward depending on
No. of bosses
total hp of all the bosses
average damage each boss does per attack
variety of boss attacks
boss regeneration
bosses’ rate of attacking
difficulty of mobs
bosses’ area of attacks
average time taken to complete dungeon
maybe other stuff too that I missed, but I doubt it will be based on public opinion of each dungeon.

If they were using public opinion TA F/U would be a cash cow lol

I don’t think that would be true, mainly because of:
1- anyone can take a long time in arah
2- why would you be rewarded less if you’re better, it only makes sense that you’re rewarded more, but then rewarding more if you do dungeons better would make the community anti noobs/all classes that aren’t warrior or mesmer more than it already is.

Do you think Arah P4 will finally be rewarding? (Like UW in GW1?)
From what I saw of it… There’s lots of possibility here.
- There’s 5 Priests … all of them Legendary? (Legendary mob drops > Champions).
- There’s even more Chests. I think we got a chest in part of it for not even killing any Boss… though I forgot what that exact activity was.
- Lupi is still part of it, and he’s super fast kill with Pain Inver….. Err, I mean Feedback
- for a first time pug, it can take 4 hours or more.
So I would personally assume… that not only would we get better Cores/Lodes than most other dungeons… we may (MAYYY) even get some of those new account bound Materials that you’re normally only supposed to get from beating those Legendaries in Open World zergs. That would be extremely interesting if it was the case since the path itself doesn’t really play favorites (there’s a lot of places where 4 Melee Warriors & a Mesmer actually face a lot more unblockable damage than a team of Engies & Rangers would)
I think the only thing that would make it more epic, is if there was also Priest of Abbadon. AND the Wraith summoning guy was actually the Priest of Dhuum and you had an Envoy of Grenth NPC there to actually fight him directly so that the Priest himself did a lot more than just stand there watching you play Whackamole with his stupid Wraiths. (Most boring fight in whole PATH!… even dumber than AC path 3) ….IE: when you defeated a Wraith, it would drop a Bundle which you would have to throw directly at either the Priest, or the Envoy depending on what was happening. (and they’d be moving around a lot themselves)

Yup. There is.

I did arah today for the first time. The entire group were new to dungeon. None of us had done it before. We choose path 2 and did a total clear because basically,..we’d never done it before and didn’t know what could be run and what couldn’t. It took 2-2.5 hours to do total clear. Obviously figuring golems suits and lupi etc took time and we could do it faster in the future. In the end when we finished..all I had was endless blue items, one rare and 2 fortune kites and the tokens. It was a fun challenge and a good laugh among strangers..but the rewards were rather lacking. I’m pleased their addressing this…even if it is over 1 year after release and finally adding a lfg tool.
