Arah story mode...sigh
Yet another thread on this.
Yes, Arah story is pure faceroll. Arah explorable however, is much more challenging.
It’s an odd place to be in, requiring Arah story (thus a dungeon run) to complete your personal story – and having people complain about that, and then also people complaining that it’s too easy to do.
It’s like they can’t make anyone happy.
haven’t done it since patch but i heard it was nerfed into the ground
This is just proof that people will complain about anything.
If they raised the difficulty or maintained with while having the new wp system I bet people like you would be here complaining about how utterly hard it is with the exact same thread title.
It’s a story instance, it’s not supposed to take you hours and melt your gear from deaths.

It’s part of the story mode. Why should it be challenging? The rest of the story wasn’t. Some people actually just enjoy the story and want to finish it. They shouldn’t be punished with a hard dungeon at the end. If you want a challenge quit complaining and go do explorable modes. That’s what they are for.

There’s a fine line between challenge and brick wall.
Just because some teams can power their way through it doesn’t mean a majority of the teams don’t get frustrated.
Bottom line is this is an online game. If the majority of players want this game to be easy then that’s how it should be. It’s called catering to your customers.
If your views don’t represent the majority of players then don’t count on your playstyle winning out in ANet’s patches. (If we assume ANet actually listens to its customers that is.)

Maybe it’s not an incredibly challenging encounter we want so much as an actual well designed final boss fight. Zhaitan in his current state is kittening pathetic. It’s not a matter of opinion, it’s a fact.
So i was at Arah dungeon for the sake of meeting my long last archenemy zhaitan and after a SHORT dungeon run i’ve nothing to say except pain in my chest and utter dissapointment. Many people says arah story is VERY hard and definitely worth a try when i ready with my gear, skills, and anything else. I heard many people talking about arah story mode with hot debate and even they complain about it they still have the fun and the challenge for it, even when i reach 80 and change all my gear to rare i still have a 2nd thought about going into arah “nah, i’ll go after i change all my gear into exotic” i thought.
But —-! there’s no utter disappointment in this game beside of this.. you can’t do this AreaNet you just can’t! You can’t build people expectation and image about Zhaitan from personal story from lvl 1 to 80 and CRUSHED the ending like this..I mean yes.. the design was nice, the flying was nice, the dragon defending was nice..but WHERE is the challange?? If you guys tried Arah story i DARE to say it was the easiest than ALL dungeon all there even easier than AC esp. the last part.
There’s was never a final boss this easy.. in EVERY game (well except a few strange ones) even console game final bosses is harder than this..omg this just pain to think about it…i’ve nothing to say anymore..
I liked the dungeon itself, but the last boss broke my heart
What bugs me the most is some of the waiting in the dungeon, and not to mention the lack of camera collision on the air ship is seriously driving me crazy
The end fight against zhaitan could really use a some more epicness as well I agree.
Arah storymode to me atleast feels pretty unfinished at best :/
if it is hard, then you cry that is hard to make a party and too challenging,
if it is easy then you cry again that there is no challenge
how you can make all happy ??? i know !… when the screen appears to enter dungeon, players should choose the level they want story 1-3
1 super easy
2 medium
3 super hard
with drops adjusted ofc
voila !
maybe same with explorable ?? tokens adjusted too

Keeping this bumped because frankly I’m sick of the developers being silent on the matter. How can they call this boss well designed? How can they be happy with this? A game’s final boss is telling of how committed the developers are to the overall experience. The pathetic nature of the Zhaitan encounter speaks volumes of what Arenanet thinks of their game’s potential.

And you never considered that just maybe there are two completely different sets of people here? And of course never even considered that they never tried to make anyone happy which had the necessary result of making or keeping everyone unhappy.
If someone is unhappy because you are making the last quest of a series of solo quests a quest that requires completing a 5 person dungeon then the only way to make them happy is to make the quest a soloable quest. Anet has not taken any steps to actually make the dungeon soloable so they haven’t addressed this group of people.
If someone is unhappy because they think the last boss is too easy then making the last boss even easier must make this group of people upset because you went in the opposite direction of what you knew they wanted.

just did this on my fifth toon ( other four were done before Jan 28 ). Thought I’d voice my displeasure to the change of the mobs after the Mouth of Zhaitan. Turning the mobs from Silver Bordered to white was FAR too sever an adjustment to the difficulty of this dungeon. It used to give a sense of urgency/desperation, and I understand with the Jan. 28th patch, some adjustments needed to be made to the difficulty due to the change to the waypoints, but —- well i’m certain it’s been stated before but this is hand holding to the extreme.
