Are Arah speedruns/farm also coonsidered as an exploit?
I too would really like official word on this. There are multiple dungeons where most PUGs are using similar, shall we say, tactics. Will people be punished for this? Should we report them?
I have avoided joining any dungeon groups from fear of the group doing something I could get banned for, but I’d really like to start earning dungeon tokens! You have stated that you are going to ‘fix’ these problems, but that only makes me feel like I am missing out by not participating in these easier runs while they are possible.
So please, be clear about it. Tell us if this kind of run is fair play or not!
Its an exploit where you keep jumping over things to pass all the mobs, or it could just be a very hard shortcut.
Although a very hard shortcut is doubtful. The method you get through the shortcut just looks like your cheating the system. If we players needed to activate the shortcut by placing rubble or something on the secret button, then sure its a hard shortcut. However right now it looks like an exploit.

I hope its not meant to be because I don’t join dungeons for jumping puzzles and shards. Right now, if you want to do Arah, you can ONLY join these shard groups. Its really frustrating for those of us who haven’t done the complete explore mode yet.
Oh, the exploration mode of Arah will not fail to impress:) Its quite amazing and interesting what Anet did. It truely feels like a dungeon;)

Actually I think Arah is quite sad. The mages wipe the party more then the boss encounters. I really have no idea what direction Anet wanted to go with their dungeons. The experience is all over the place. It should be a challenge to get to the bosses but the experience should be more enjoyable. The boss fights should be the hard mechanic, not getting to them. Boss fights as they are now are boring, flat and not even challenging. I am not just talking about bumping up their damage as a quick fix but we need an over all change in mechanics. Since this game breaks the holy trinity and players are supposed to be self sufficient we are now started to see a break down and exclusion of player types and classes because Anet designed a faulty system.
TLDL Anet falsely advertised the dungeon system and is quite broken as is. I don’t blame these players for speed runs to get some decent gear as these dungeons are extremely boring and unbalanced getting to and fighting boss encounters.
No the mages dont…? If your team knew how to single target, res team players fast, spread out, know how to dodge, then the mages wont be a problem.

This question does need to be addressed. I certainly don’t want to be punished for this. I always hope I can talk the group into finishing a run through with me if I go farming a few times with them. It is sad not enough people want to finish the dungeon on explore but it is better than nothing. Even the one and ONLY time a group even agreed to try and finish explore with me (after begging and we still lost one) they still used the ‘hug the wall’ method and jumped. I’m not sure I even know how to get to the other part without jumping as I have never done it…
P.S. We made it to ‘giganticus lupicus’ with 4 people. We just couldn’t do it but the thing couldn’t kill us either. Thanks to whoever those 3 people were that agreed to try and finish with me.
Yes any word on this? I did a few runs and felt skipping most everything and farming 2 mobs and resetting the zone is an exploit. I stopped after 3 different parties did it.
They need to fix it so you can’t jump over the wall at all and need to actually do thekittendungeon.
Most likely you will not be punished and it will be fixed.
Bug report it with screenshots, and as much detail as possible.
Avoiding mobs are not an exploit or a bugg. With mobs you got 2 options. Fight or Avoid. That’s how it’s always been. The rule doesn’t change just because it’s a dungeon.
And exploit is where you do something that isn’t applied in the dungeon. Like skipping an entire event by jumping over a wall och bugging the NPC.
But regular mobskipping isn’t. Of course if you bugg the mobs or make them dissapear in a manner that isn’t intented it could be said that you are exploiting it.
For an example. The Magg path in CoF:
The event where you are protecting him while he plants a charge to blow a door, the mobs that spawns there are not unkillable but you will die if you try. By kiting them a k a avoiding combat you are not abusing or exploiting this event. But if you where to trigger something that made all those mobs go away while the charge timer still loads you are indeed exploiting this event. A common exploit was the double elementalist ressurection or jumping behind that door. Fortunate this exploit has been removed.
I did Arah yesterday for the first time. Yes we did skip mobs, but we did not exploit or bugg the system. We mainly used Mesmer portals to avoid some on the roads.
This is regular mob skipping not bugg / exploit.
Mesmer portals arent (or shouldnt be) jumping walls probably is (or kitten well should be), cosnidering i did CM recently and they’d actually removed a rock which made it possible to skip past some nasty mob packs, and that wasnt even jumping Over a wall…..
