Are fractals now inaccessible to me?
When they were released, lots of people did levels 10-19 without any AR.
Of course if you are new you should try to get on a 1-9 team. If there isn’t any, try to make a team by yourself!
Try to ask in /map chat, normally there’s always people still willling to do low levels fractals (at least on my server).
BTW, are you playing on EU or NA server? If EU I won’t mind doing a low level run with you with my alt warrior (he’s lvl 2 or smt lol) someday
Success! I must have got lucky because I found a group which had 4 people from the same guild and thankfully they told me what to do.
Just had a taste so far but I enjoyed the ones we did and will definitely try and find another low level group.
There should be lots of groups doing the 10 daily.
You should be able to do those even with 0 AR.
I’m at personal 40 atm but no one is doing 39-47
I always have to join a 48 daily at the moment :p
I think your problem is not part of a guild. I’m level 49, Fractals, but I am responsible for taking beginners to Fractals, so I constantly Fractals level 10 to catch all experience.
My take on this is that you’re fine doing levels 10-19 without any AR. Just keep your health at full during the dredge boss and stay in the corner where stepped onto the platform when Maw does its agony attack. Take the time while doing these fractals to learn what the agony attacks are and how to avoid them.
Once you get to 20+, you will need the max recommended AR for that tier unless you can avoid the agony attacks. I say this from my experience with pugs and how annoying it is to keep reviving them over and over and over.
If you don’t have AR, and can’t dodge the dredge boss’ room wide agony attack, you will get downed. Depending on where you are, he may finish you off before you can be revived. You also put your team at risk to revive you. At Maw, stay in the corner where you got onto the platform. Without at least 15 AR for level 20-29 you will get downed as you can’t heal through it.
Once you hit 30+ then you should be nearing the max AR possible. This is unless you can dodge all of the attacks which is something most people who say you don’t need AR neglect to mention.
When the new fractal is released their will be a large influx of players looking to do fractals.
I’ll run a level 8 with you
There are always people doing fractals <20 because people make alts all the time. I’ve been leveling my mesmer in fractals and have had no problem finding teams for level 8 dailies for the past week.
About agony:
You don’t NEED agony resist until you hit level 20. Before level 20 you can heal through most agony attacks.

The most popular levels to run are 8, 10, 18, ,20 28, 38 and 48 because those have the highest reward scaling without crossing over to the next tier of difficulty.

Ok thanks for the help everyone! Just another quick question.
Whenever I go to enter a fractal, the highest difficulty scale I can go to is 2. So I guess this is the equivalent of my fractal level but if I join a group doing level 5 when I finish will my scale go to 3 or will it stay at 2?

Anything at or above your personal level will increase your personal level when you finish. Also the difficulty scale that you can start is based off your personal level. However someone of higher level can start anything up to their level. And if they are in the same map as you, you can start anything up to their maximum level as well.
eg. You can start a level 2 fractal. Someone else who has personal level 30 can start anything up to 30. If this person is on the same map (same instance of LA), then you can also start anything up to their level.

- You’ll be rewarded according to your personal level
- If your personal level is equal or lower then the fractal level then your level will increase
- You can only start a fractal at a level equal or lower than your personal level
- Even fractal levels over lvl 10 will feature a 4th fractal (Maw) which will include a daily bonus chest.
- You can get one bonus chest per day for ranges 10-18, 20-28, 30-38, 40-48 (ie max 4 per day)
- Increasing level of fractal will increase chance of good loot
- Overall rule for agony is fractal level-5, the more the diff the more the damage
- Maw has unavoidable agony (lvl 48 requires special classes or tricks to complete)

Mainly that the daily chests can produce rings starting at lvl 10 daily, and weapon skins at lvl 20 daily.
Also I would argue about “higher quality loot” at higher levels. I’ve gotten a lot 40-48 runs giving me only greens on the Maw chest, not to mention jack squat in the earlier chests.
@OP I suggest running the 10-18 daily (do evens only, you want that Maw chest), and get used to dodging agony attacks from bosses. Also, don’t get used to the facetanking mobs anything below lvl 38. Lots of mobs will one shot you i.e. dredge at higher levels. Use the time to learn their mechanics, know when to dodge, swap/utilize proper utilities per pull, basic dungeon 101 stuff.
