Before i start i just want to make clear i LOVE this game as it is now but we can’t deny fact that with some things alot of people aren’t happy.
Since arenanet stated that they rework dungeons i wanted to throw out few ideas which will hopefully make this game better for all of us. As for other fellow players by all means please do comment agree/disagree but try make constructive posts with explenations rather then “u sux”
Now i know that you guys spent so much time and effort to make all this ( Dungeons ) and we all appreciate it but maybe some of these solutions could be better then they are now.
TOKEN/REWARD SYSTEM
Ill start with token system. At first it seemed to me like a wonderful idea, leave nothing to chance, chose what will you get for your effort, no boring dungeon grinding with 0 reward. Soon after i did few dungeons i realised this is wrong, something is missing, yea i killed the boss i feel good now but what is missing is that feeling when you open the loot and see those shiny icons with items you waited for days and now all your work is finally paid out, thats sucha good feeling but sadly there is no sucha thing in GW. Yea killing hard boss is nice reward itself but after few times you do it, it wont be enough…on other hand, loot and looting excitment, that chance and reward is what will make you do it over and over again. That system works perfectly in so many MMOs so why change that?
Possible solutions for this:
-Make dungeon loot drop in dungeons instead of tokens but with % chance
-Make tokens drop in dungeons with % chance but reduce dungeon item price
END GAME CONTENT
Now what makes MMOs live longer then others? Its easy, end game content and good, fun, balanced PVP. PVP so far is wonderful, yea could use some arena variety like duels, deathmatch, ctf etc but im sure arenanet will figure that out easy enough;) Which brings us to “End Game Content”.
Dungeons and raids are consider end game content in most MMOs outhere and if they are fun and done well it will keep players engage for long time. As it is now, after you reach 80 what you can do is run dungeons which have exactly same rewards with different skins. The formula is simple, the more reasons you have to do dungeon the more time it will keep you engaged and as it is now there is only one reason to do dungeon in GW, armor skins…
Another problem is while other games have variety of end game dungeons and you do them all cause you need something from each of those, in GW you can get all from one dungeon and to get it you have to do that ONE dungeon 70+ times. Bad thing about that is 1. you will get bored very fast, 2. you won’t even see half of these beautiful designed dungeons. Problem is even bigger since there is no difference in item stats so you cant make player go around different dungeons collecting pieces of his final, unique gear/setup.
Possible solutions for this:
-Make dungeon items scaling with dungeon difficulty ( ill explain this in a sec )
-Make dungeon items soul bound on equip so people do it for profit as well.
-Make dungeons drop unique items with unique stats to make people do more then just one dungeon ( since there are no accessories in dungeons so far,you could start with that so each dungeons could drop one of these with unique stat/proc )
-Consider TOKEN/REWARD SYSTEM from above
Now about that item scaling. Idea is that AC the first dungeon drops items with stats as they are now on top items in the game slightly incrising so arah dungeon drops 20% better item stats. Now i know arenanet clearly stated that they want this game to be skilled based and not geared based, but since SPVP is already completely separated and you cant use pvm obtained items in SPVP, there is really no problem with that.
What would this do is bring continuance to the game. People would have to do easier dungeons to get gear so they can do harder dungeons. Also since there would be unique items in each of those dungeons players would do pretty much all of them to get something they need. People would actually have something to do when they hit 80.
As it is now you get lvl 80 in a week, you get 40 gold in another weak, buy best armor, go on last dungeon in game , get bored in a week and if you don’t like pvp you quit.
Well that would be all from me, i know these ideas arent perfect but together we could make almost perfect solutions for this game and therefore make it better for everyone.
