Arg! CoE Laser Grid!
Bring a Mesmer, set up a portal, jump halfway, use Blink to get to the other side, set up the other end of the portal. Done in less than a minute.
Put your character on the wall, then face your camera to it. You can now see the lines from different perspective making it easier to jump over.

Get a thief, and do it like Catherine Zeta-Jones in Entrapment. Thief can use shadowsteps to just “teleport” right through those lazers.
If you watch the lasers, eventually when it reaches the side with the waypoint on, 2 of the vertical lasers will disappear you have a few seconds to jump over the 2 horizontal ones, then wait, then carry on jumping but don’t stop.
Jump sideways.
15 char.
Way I do it is just jump straight on, hold forward and jump at the same time for the same amount of time.
Once you get the timing down. You just hold forward + jump, release. Hold forward + jump, release.
Get’s really easy and you can do it 100% of the time.

Just curious here, will Infiltrator’s Arrow (SB skill #5) work the same way? I’m usually on my guardian or warrior for dungeons and haven’t taken my thief to CoE yet.
And yeah, mesmer had occured to me…. now if I could just either get mine leveled or get the one or two people in the guild who play mesmers interested in dungeons….

Better to run through, set portal, waypoint back and then set the other end of the portal.
Can be done with a Portal Gun too.

Mesmer portals are nice to have, but I’m sure there would be times when there would be no Mesmers or no portal guns. Personally, I never take any Mesmer portals when it comes to that laser room (it’s a pride-thing).
With that said, I usually make it to the other side on the first or second try (and if I have to do a second attempt, it’s usually because I’m impatient to wait for my accumulated Swiftness boon to wear off and intentionally kill myself to remove it). The trick really is to watch the lasers. I’d follow Nekrosses.6059’s suggestion and wait for the right time to start jumping. Almost always, you’ll make it across. Lastly, make sure you don’t have anything that grants you Swiftness during that part. I know that’s usually the #1 cause of me dying on those lasers. Meaning that you should pace yourself and hope you don’t accidentally overshoot your jumps.

Don’t try with swiftness on xD
The laser room is easy. If you are dying all the time, it’s more likely because you have not noticed the pattern of the lasers than because jumping there is hard.

Jump sideways. Your speed will be almost the same as the laser’s speed.
I always go with Swiftness and try jump over two lasers. Now that’s fun!
One good jumper with portal gun makes it trivial for rest.

Pretty much this. I don’t like swiftness, it messes up my rhythm and I overjump. I never use any “exploits” there, like the safespots on the wall or portalgun etc, since everything eventually gets fixed and imo it’s always better to be able to do things the intended way. I never remove my armor, so I’ll get “punished” when messing up. I fail there once in maybe 1 out of 50 runs, 100% success rate is a bit much.
Someone should start a grid running service for a small fee.
Jokes aside, thief’s infiltrator’s arrow + shadowstep can instantly clear the grid.
Just curious here, will Infiltrator’s Arrow (SB skill #5) work the same way? I’m usually on my guardian or warrior for dungeons and haven’t taken my thief to CoE yet.
Yes. You just need to find the right spot to put your mouse cursor, then you don’t move, you do two shortbow #5 in a row and finish with the Shadow Step skill and it’s clear.
Remove your armor anyway until you get your marks because you’ll shadowstep right into a laser often.
Simple strategy:
Stand in the middle of the corridor, next to the laser grid. Aim your char for the wall exactly in the middle of the laser grid. Wait for lasers to get to your side, and then to start going away – the ‘safe’ window should close before you start jumping. Now jump forward, not all the way, but the increased space from jumping diagonally will give you enough time to get it right. Once you get to the middle of laser grid, just position yourself next to wall, in the middle, and the lasers coming back will miss you. You can do it in the middle of the corridor too, but its harder to position properly in between the lasers (chars hitbox is cylinder, and each laser has its own hitbox instead of one big pane hitbox, thats why you can squeeze between them with wider character). Wait for the lasers to completely pass (remember the safe window), and proceed to the other side in the same diagonal manner.
I ve also seen people jumping backwards (with swiftness maybe), making it an exact distance.
I do it like this (pic below) and I can’t remember the last time I failed.
Doing it diagonally allows you to jump without having to control your forward movement too much.
The main problem people seem to have is getting killed by the moving lasers because you naturally try to be in the middle of the gap between the moving lasers but the graphics for them don’t seem to match up with where the game thinks they are so you die, if you stand a tiny bit left of that the lasers will safely pass over you.
The clue is to get in between the moving lazers, there’s a zone you can get into. Once learned, it’s an easy trick. Good luck.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
I position the camera to the side of my character so that it looks like I’m playing Mario or any other side scrolling platformer. I hardly ever die on the lasers any more.
feel the rhythm
When the lasers come to the very beginning, the one before the first horizontal laser will disappear. You can then jump in and it’ll reappear behind you. Just jump over each horizontal laser while between the two vertical ones. I’ve also done it by hugging the right side wall and I’ve seen others simply stand between two vertical ones and going through unscathed. It seems to work randomly though.

The problem is doing it with an asura, then a charr, then a norn when you’re farming CoE 231 three times a day.
“GW2’s PvE is almost as bad as the PvP.”
As a mesmer, I do the exact trick as above. I’ve been through that a few times and have yet to have anyone take my portal. I was beginning to think portals don’t work there or something lol. I even had someone say, we don’t need a portal on this, as I waited for someone to make it to the other side with me, with portals active on both sides….
Haven’ t had a problem with this for a while myself, but it’ some thing I see a lot when I make groups, other posters have given good advice on the actual jumping’, but what I found by accident, is that you only need 2 to get across.
Have everyone go to the normal panels, and go to the 2 panels which are next to each other, stand between them evenly and you’ ’ll now be using 2 yourself.
This fix still requires 2 of you to get over, but I hope it helps
A lot of ppl doing it sideways. I always move the camera to an overhead position.
One thing that helps is to jump up and then push forward, rather than jump + forward, gives you more clearance so less likely to clip the the beam you’re jumping over.
Thief SB 5 skill works, means you can ignore the safe zone and just go after the two vertical laser sections and just use the 5 to cover the last half the distance. You could probably SB the whole thing in 2 shots, but running is good jumping practice.
Turn the camera sideways and play it like a 2D platformer.
Instantly becomes trivial.
Resident Thief
I did this path last night. Let’s just say our group can be newbie sometimes and gets frustrated easily. I was able to clear the lasers easily, there is a pattern to it. Everyone else in my group had a really hard time, to the point where they were about to rage quit. Luckily two people finally made it (after about 15 minutes).
Like others have said, there is a pattern. The lasers will start their pattern, then stop for a second, this is when you jump in. When they start going again you start jumping, following them. Watch out! There will be lasers behind you! Keep following the lasers in front, they will lead you out to the other side. It is simple enough.
People seem to get confused about trying to fit in between the lasers, this is not the case, get that out of your head!
