So I just took my group through AC and we decided for kicks and giggles to give Kholer a shot. I was given to understand that he now summoned veteran mobs at 75%, 50% etc as you burned him down so we were ready to take them on. Instead, however, he kept spawning more silver elites and that unexpected bit of damage/hp wiped us several times. Was there another buff I missed somewhere?

you need reflections for the pull. and stack in a corner helps too.. just stay behind the reflection.. also the 200+ power food is really good for kholer or ac overall

Reflection isn’t required for the pull at all; it certainly makes it easier but it’s still very easy to dodge.

As for the adds, yeah, they do spawn with each 25% of his health you drop and you’re generally gonna wanna kill them as they spawn. Especially that godkitten necro.

I was waiting with trepidation for a new “Kholer-hammered-us” thread just so I could comment on it.

He wasn’t changed, he’s just awesome like that.

And despite his buffs, the Troll is STILL more dangerous than he is. XD (Sadly the Troll loses to Kholer now due to his adds, but the adds attack the party instead of the Troll by default, so you can actually wait in the central area and fight them there while Kholer and the Troll duke it out in one of the side hallways.)

I really didn’t mind the difficulty, since I had a group of 4 with one person under leveled for the dungeon, I was just confused because every post on the wiki and other guides said he spawned veterans rather than elites XD .

Thanks for the advice on beating him, we’ll definitely take those into account.

The wiki and guides say veterans because until recently — when Anet renamed them “elites” — silver mobs were called “veterans.”

I love Kholer so much. Thing is he must be the best boss in the game skill-wise.

He actually evades, tries to hit different persons, has a one hit skill with an easy tell so you can still make it out unscathed and all.

Sadly he isn’t that hard. We need more bosses like him
