With the introduction of the new Viper’s gear, I have decided to swap the stats on my Sinister set to Viper’s. Sadly this means the end of 6 Aristocracy runes which will be a pain to obtain now that dungeons are dead. I then wondered if salvaging ascended armor would give you the rune back. I tested it with one of my leftover chests from Fractals:

It seems that salvaging ascended armor does give you the rune back. I would assume this also works for weapons.

That is disappointing but not surprising. Maybe they could put an enhanced version in for like, 2g that guarantees the rune is returned. Thanks for making this info public.

I think you misread the post, it shows that you DO get the rune back from salvaging ascended armor pieces.

I do not know if it is 100% since I only tried once.

Yea, I didn’t pay too much attention when salvaging, but I think I got every infusion and upgrade back. Hell, salvaged a pistol and got a deldrimor pistol barrel too…..
