With the new laurels system, getting just one piece of ascended gear takes a minimum of at least 20 days(for the amulet, the ring is about 5 days longer). Basically finish the monthly and 20 dailies.
When it comes to getting ascended gear from FOTM it was so much more faster. In that same 20 days, I can get fractal capacitor(I actually got 2, 1 for my condition and 1 for my power build) and 4 rings(2 for each of my build). I also managed my ascended MF set in less then a week or so after getting my power and condition gear. For the ppl who are thinking I’m trying to show off, I’M NOT. Just trying to make a comparison. Even if one’s RNG is so bad you can surely get 2 rings from the pristine relics and 20 days for a beta fractal capacitor is really not too hard, so lets use this as a bench mark.
Whats happening now is that in the time I can get 3 ascended items, with the new laurels system, I only can get 1. To the ppl at who came up with this idea, COME ON GUYS U GOTTA BE KIDDING RIGHT? And to get second one for my other build, lol ok lets not go there yet. And lets not go any where near getting one for my MF set.
Now I know some are gonna take a look at this and say, “Unlike you most ppl who play this game have a real life”, cos 3 ascended gear in 20 days or less might sound like quite a grind. But you have to realize, that some ppl have a period of down time from their jobs or lessons and after that they are gonna be really busy. Which is why I liked it when grinding was an option for ascended gear. But with this system I have to play a minimum of 20 days just to get one ascended neck item.
Also I know that Anet is trying to take the “grinding issue” out of the game but really what your doing is taking the grind in FOTM and pushing out to other areas, which as everyone knows is really what they are trying to achieve with the laurels system and making ninja changes to a few elites in FOTM making them hard or impossible to do at higher lvls. Actually if you ask me, you guys took the grind and stretched over longer period of time. But don get me wrong, i’m still quite indifferent about this. The only thing that kitten me off is the amount of time needed for one bleeping Ascended gear with laurels.
Just bare with me for a bit more cos I got a second query. What in the world am I suppose to do with the remaining FOTM tokens? I got almost 2 bank tabs of rings, crafting materials and tokens from FOTM, that is just lying around. I asked this question like 3 or 4 times on this forum, alot ppl have asked this question as well. To the ppl at ANET, AN ANSWER TO THIS WILL BE FREAKING AWESOME.
At least tokens from other dungeons can be exchanged for gear and that be salvaged or thrown into the Mystic Toilet for some freak chance at sometime good. But none in the case of FOTM.
