How do you attune ascended rings to add more agony resistance?

First of all, you need to have finished the second of the fractals masteries. This gives you access to a vendor on a different island in the fractals lobby. This vendor sells an item called Agonized Essence: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Agonized_Essence

The mystic forge recipe for attuning is: Agonized Essence + ascended ring + one +1-infusion + one Philosopher’s Stone

If you have any infusions in your ring, make sure to remove them before attuning the ring as they would be lost. You can buy an infusion removal tool from the same vendor.

also: some rings are bugged so you can’t attune them. Link it in chat and if you see a +5 AR when you link it, that means you can’t attune that ring

you have to use the ring obtained after the Fractured patch…. any ring prior to that doesn’t work….

This is not true, I attuned both my zerker rings on my guard whom ive had on there for a couple of years now,

I did however remove the agony on said ring first with the extractor, then attuned it.

Azizul, it is true that you can attune old rings. I also was able to attune both my zerker rings which I’ve had since before HoT

Fractured patch was 2 years ago. Rings obtained before then cannot be Attuned.

Just confirming this. Both my Red Ring of Death and Crystalline Band were obtained pre-Fractured (so before Nov 2013) and cannot be used in the mystic forge.

Hopefully this gets fixed in the December Fractals patch, as I, and I assume many others, have posted this in the bug reports forum.

It’s not at all about when you got the ring.

I was unable to put my two rings in the forge until I removed the agony resistance infusions on them already, then I could put it in just fine. The system apparently is just preventing people from wasting infusions.

and i did remove all the infusion prior to attempt of attuning the ring……. still, it does not appear in the mystic forge selection… mine is Celestial, in case people are asking what stats…

Like it was said before, pre-fractured rings won’t work. Cause even if you do remove the influsions, link the ring in some chat, guild or say, and put your cursor on it. You will see that the ring you linked HAS a +5 agony resistance infusion. That’s how rings worked pre-fractured.

Currently, you can’t attune any of the old discontinued rings like circle of light, yakkington’s ring, and snaff’s gyre
