The past 2 days I’ve seen more and more posts on the gw2lfg of people wanting zerker axe warriors now. I don’t really keep up to date with the latest patch changes like I should. So was there a patch change or something that made axes better than gs?

I was on the lfg eariler looking for cof1 runs and got invited to a group. I usually don’t even look at the text post anymore as I have everything zerker. I ping my gear and got asked if I have axes. I said no and I was promptly removed from the group because I only had GS.. Very odd.

No, but you always use your GS burst then switch to Axe/Mace for Eviscerate, the vuln, and the auto-attack, then as soon as you can, you switch back to GS for the next burst. It’s an endless cycle.

Last few weeks I was seeing more and more warriors bring GS and Longbow. Maybe they’re finally accepting as a group that GS to burst then Axe/Mace is the best way to go.

They’re still reading builds from before life steal food was nerfed. It’s the same as all the d/d eles that run around built for when sigil of battle had no internal cooldown.

Axe was always good since release.

This spike of adaptation was due to people who blindly follow builds without understanding them.

GS= you know the drill

axe main :

2= vuln usefull everywhere
f1= can crit around 10-15k ( having healing surge gives yo adren back for dps)
1= auto powerfull till you switch for 100b

warhorn offhand:

4= x4 is perma swiftness for entire dungeon.. speedrun not speedrun without it ,also for NPC
5= weakness on first group, slaver and crea part not that useless sometimes

cant w8 for this to be default for all wars

Glad to see people are catching on finally. It took months to get people to stop playing shout heal wammo builds. Took some more months to get them to run full berserker. And now they are finally using a proper dps rotation. Only about 6 more months until pugs are worth picking up.

Just to any PUGs who might be reading, take a spare warhorn and sword in your bag and swap to them for the run sections in COF. When you run up the bridge after the slave driver, pop warhorn for swiftness when the gate opens, use Sword 2 to leap, swap to GS for whirlwind, then GS5 plus an evade to rush through the first set of enemies if they’re activated already. Evade the turret fireballs then use Sword 2 again to land on the other side of the fanatics. And for god’s sake, don’t hit anything.

PUG warriors almost refuse to use their godkitten rush moves, and I beat them to the acolytes by like 5-6 seconds every time. Annoying.

Do you know good engineer or elementalist dps build that doesn’t revolve around spamming autoattacks?

I honestly have no idea what are you talking about but judging from your response I take it you were running improper guardian builds. What I was refering to, was a quantity of discussions I had about dps builds on these forums when almost no one had agreed that valor was useless. Nowadays, I’m seeing an increasing amount of 10+X/25+X/0/X/X builds on guardian subforum.

Yes, that sure is unfortunate.

That’s just one of many places you can shave time. It doesn’t matter there as much because only one person needs to get there quickly, but those same players that don’t know how to use their rush moves also don’t know how to shave seconds in all the other places in the run. Every little bit adds more time. There’s always downtime in PUGs with people leaving, entrance being contested, etc. Shaving that time when you can ensures you get as much out of your consumables as possible.

And really, why be content just going fast when it’s extremely easy to go as fast as possible?

I hope it never is. It’s like you’ve forgotten that banners are standard on speed runs, and like you’ve forgotten that when moving between events, you can pick up your banners and use the 3 skill for perma swiftness. Warhorn is just dragging your group down, run OH Mace instead.

This is because F1 longbow creates fire field for banners to give area might. Only 1 warrior should carry longbow.

Not needed. 4 For Great Justices and a warbanner, mesmer pops signet, everyone is at 25 stacks and fury for the duration of the slave driver with time warp or not. Same should go for the effigy. You’re just wasting adrenaline on the F1 skill (and thus DPS because of the 2 traits) unless you pop surge, but then you have your heal on cooldown when you could need it. I’d rather someone stop DPSing because they’re using a heal than stop because they’re downed.

Also, I wouldn’t even really care if they equipped longbow from the bag to drop F1, then put it back for the proper weapons, but I’m seeing people have longbow on swap.

100b burst including final hit > axe autoattack
in corner WW does great damage for little amt of time
out of a corner blade trail is also good considering activation time (2x hit)
axe auto attack > GS auto attack

fasthands trait swap

4 warbanners just for just a blast finish? what about the 3-4 might stacks it grants for the whole duration? it’s a waste of might stacks to go over 25. 3 might from each FGJ which should be 100% up time.

slavedriver should die <10secs / 1 TW in a speedrun. 4 warbanners or even 3 is inefficient if you don’t get to use it on effigy

If you’re relying on blast finishers, why not just pick up a banner and use 5>cancel (saves time) for another stack

-warhorn and longbow aren’t doing anything for you in combat and you aren’t stacking might in combat. Learn to swap between fights
-planning to drop war banners twice = 8 minute runs minimum. This is obviously not best setup
-this will only give the gate person 9 stacks of might

20/25/0/10/15.

100B → WW (swap mid attack if not next to wall) → swap to Axe/Mace for Vuln and superior auto attack damage → swap back 100B → WW.

Eviscerate = 1shot Acolyte.

Also should be carrying a sword/warhorn to travel the bridge quicker and trigger the event sooner. Combine this with Bull Charge and Rush on banners and you can save 4-5 seconds per run easily.

Elementalists are slowly getting out of their shells too. Doing 11k dmg with a healing standard bunker build just doesn’t give us an incentive to sacrifice our bunker for a few more k dmg as we are the class with the lowest hp+armor.
