I’m just going to post this because I don’t know if this has always been known and I’ve just missed it or something.

Well anyway that slam attack can be baited. It’s always the closest one to KC, so the first one you might just have to eat. But the rest of them you can just have a druid hang back to lure it away from the group. The slam happens after the donut/pizza attack after the pacman phase. When the group is running back just get one of the druid to hang back until they get a beam that connects them to KC. When the beam pops that’s when The slam will happen at your location.

every group I’ve been in has pulled that attack over to one of the glowing statues, so I’m not sure it really matters.

Unless you want to have people range dps until it lands?
But getting pugs to do that instead of dodging would be a chore, and for organised groups, just dodge/distort?

First of: just dodge it.
Second: DON’T let him jump away from the group. Place him beside the spawning statues. The group may stay out of the circle anyway as it’s really small and easy to avoid. Or they just dodge.

I much prefer Mesmer Distortion-sharing the slam so that people can precast and get their rotations going, but the general sentiment is the same as other posters: Always lure it right on top of one of the phantasms, and then just mitigate the attack.
