Examples:

The Ruined City of Arah- Hunter and Crusher, Brie and Lupicus’ kicks.

Ascalonian Catacombs- The Howling King

Caudecus’s Manor – Sure Shot Seamus and Frost

I would assume this is a bug, considering how many bugs were introduced in the last patch. There’s probably one range called “cone” or something that accidentally got changed, maybe it was intended for a Heart of Thorns boss being designed or something. Pretty bothersome considering the animations now are completely different from the hitbox. Start filling out your bug reports!

CM p1 Frost also got a radius increase and it seemed like they removed the cooldown so now its firing that frost gun 24/7 non stop.

It seems like all straightline beam attacks are effected by this. I discovered the basilisks in open world are also effected. Which makes me think this is an unintended bug.

We know there adding new TYPES of attacks in HOT. Is it possible there also reworking the data on older attack types in order to make them more relevant to the fights there in?

I doubt thats whats happening in this case. Its really inconsistant to have a straightline beam animation which hits you in a 180 degree arc. I thought maybe that was the case until i noticed it effects every attack like that.

Yeah I can’t imagine them wanting to change a bunch of old attacks because the incongruity between the attack and the animation. Just seems like a terrible move I don’t think they’d make.

I do think it’s likely that they’re working on a lot of back end stuff. Either jumbling up their reference values or even working in the functions themselves without fully grasping the full scale of where and what those tweaks would do. maybe they can now adjust the arc of an attack with their own values instead of hard coded, but when they made the change it defaulted to 180 and why we’re seeing so many larger attacks /shrug, just all guesses but I’d put money on it being from them working on the back end of the game.

It seems to be a general thing, but to have a complete list you can add Malrona’s Venom Spray (TA UP).

Offtopic question: Have any of you find something strange with the hitbox of some bosses? like they are smaller or not aligned with the model.

I think lupicus kicks have a wider hit range too.

In my runs it felt like something was weird with lupi’s kicks, good that I’m not the only one who experienced that. The increase isn’t as big and noticable as Brie’s beam or crusher’s smash though.

Thanks, Dusk. I hope they let us know if this was intentional or not — I’d hate to see another Alphard situation where the boss is broken for months while we’re unsure whether or not they ever intend to revert the behavior.

That was really frustrating from a player perspective.

I was leveling up and got hit by a Basilisk’s petrify and its beam was also really wide. It uses the same effect as Operative Belka.

For sure, the Shadow of the Dragon in the very last LS release has had its hitbox changed.

From what I could tell, it’s now very small and at the tip of his (always moving) head.
So if you melee, you can’t hit it. You pretty much have to use ranged skills that are targeted to ever hit.

I forwarded this along to them and they’re aware of it, though they have refrained from commenting on whether or not it is a bug yet. If I learn more I’ll pass that on, but for now I think the best we can do is wait.

I can also confirm that this has been fixed. Tested with Seamus, Effigy (CoF 1) and Howling King.
