I think it will be brilliant to have the option to change our stats in SFTA. We can test different builds more effectively. Players can compare different builds before committing their hard earned gold. PvP build system that we have in Heart of the Mist will be more than adequate for SFTA.

Feel free to add other good ideas and your opinion about this idea.

I got a few more ideas:

  • A “bottomless hole”: A golem that can be infinitely healed as well as a golem of set health that is spawed with 1 HP
  • A golem with an adjustible Defiance Bar
  • An option to make the training golem indestructible (like the dummy in HotM) so you can infinitely rotate on it.
  • An option to apply food and utility to yourself for the duration of the Training for free.

The current PvP System would be a start but would be pretty lackluster in the long run since many stat combinations are missing as well as all HoT interrupt sigils. But I really like the idea.

An adjustible defiance bar is a spectacular idea. I would also love it if they had a system in-place for adding food and wrench buffs to players without having to waste one’s own food. These two are probably the most useful additions I could ask for, though I certainly wouldn’t mind knowing what my healing per second was or being able to test arbitrary gear setups.

I don’t want to know HP/s, what i’d rather know is effective healing/overheal/wasted healing.

An option that allows you to adjust the amount of DPS logs you get from the golem. It is now 5 (every 20%) but would be nice if you could higher that.

Yes more options at Special Training would be great!

For data: what you get after a PVP match is awesome.

+1 for allowing us to choose our food and utility too.

That’s why I added the Adjustible golem that spawns at 1HP. So you can see when you cap out on [5k|10k|20k] health targets.

Yes please!

I don’t know the logistics on how difficult it would be to add that functionality to PvE, but an easier way to add it might be to add a special forces arena to the PvP lobby since the functionality to change builds already exists there.

To be completely honest i think the best way to do that is to completely unlink it from all gamemodes and give it its own place. That may even allow for swpping between PvE | PvP | WvW balance since some skills work completely different depending on your gamemode. It could open up for a lot of options.

An option to practice orb pushing (KC core) and similar “special mechanics” under realistic conditions:

- Pushable Core
- Core retrievers
- “rifts”
- failure mechanic

KC for itself is not that difficult but two of our Druids would love to be able to practice this part of the fight without holding back the rest of the Raid.

It’d be kinda neat to be able to spawn the actual raid bosses there so you could practice the mechanics. Perhaps if there was another golem assistant that you could skip to a certain phase so if your group was having issues with a particular phase you could practice just that phase.

This is basically the “Raid Practise-Mode” the Community has been screaming for since the launch of raids (which is by now almost a year ago). I have no clue why they haven’t added that in the first place. Raids aren’t played in the linear fashion they are designed in anyway.

As every veteran player will be able to I can easily answer this question myself: They don’t have the ressources to pump out content like many players wish.
Have a look at the rates between new content, they are devastately long, same goes with bugfixing and other stuff. Considering the priority of issues in this game, the mentioned one is at the bottom of the ladder. Don’t ever expect a realization.

Took me 3 runs of the dungeon to get the bug.

Or do something like Taimi’s game because the area around the golem is rather small to “simulate” most boss fights.

I know I’m a programmer myself and I know that features take a LOT of time and effort. Especially in a piece of Software as big as GW2. Just sometimes it feels that had they given themselves another month of time it might have fixed a few more things.

Yeah it would need to spawn an instance area or somehow change the area there to accommodate the different arenas. If we could spawn the bosses in there you could then also test your group DPS during the actual fights so you can see what you need to do as a group to improve.

And the people that want to “easy mode” the boss can spawn the boss and give the entire party the entire slate of boons without having to produce them. They could then see all of the mechanics and practice the actual fight without having to worry too much. Obviously there’d be no rewards or progression, but they could at least see the fights and practice the mechanics so they would understand what to do.

I have no idea if this is even possible, but it would be really nice and the training arena could get more use.

Testing and practicing your own DPS rotations in a perfect scenario is still important to be successful but it is hardly the only thing that matters in raids. There are quite a few things which are debatably more important than your personal damage depending on the class and role we are talking about.
Nothing beats hand-on experience and practice during actual raids especially if you are just starting out as a team.

However, it can be hard to see and sometimes understand how much you are missing if isn’t pointed out to you in an obvious way.
I feel like many would be just as flabbergasted to see how much they are missing in the terms of applied buffs as a mesmer or the amount of well timed healing done by them as they were when it was pointed out to them that they were missing half the possible highest DPS during their golems tests.

Just a few ideas:
amount Buffs applied
buff reapplication rate
overall amount of healing
delay of your heals
amount of crowd control done
crowd control timing and speed
blocked and dodged damage
avoided /taken AoE damage

I would much rather have actual raid meters which would allow me to compare myself to others during the real encounter. To see where I need to improve and where I do well already. As raid meters seem to be unlikely and have so many outright oppose them I will take what I can get in the training area.
